Courage Mountain (1990)
Good movie!!
*SPOILERS* This movie is a sequel to the children's story, Heidi. Heidi, now a teen, is accepted to a girls' school in Italy. She decides to go, right when WWI is starting. She leaves neutral Switzerland to go to soon to be war-torn Italy. When her school closes to become Italian troops headquarters; she and her friends, Ilsa, Gudrun, and Ursula are taken from her headmistress's, Madame Hilary, care and put in an orphanage. This is really a dirty factory run by the evil Signor Bonelli and his wife. The girls escape one night, along with two new orphans, Clarissa and Giovanni. Signor Bonelli sets out looking for them and chases them all over Italy. The kids are headed over the Alp Mountains to Heidi's home in Switzerland. Meanwhile, the Madame Hilary has alerted and gone to Heidi's grandfather for help. He asks Heidi's childhood friend, Peter to look for the girls. Eventually it ends with a brutal fight on the mountain b/t Bonelli and Peter, because Bonelli found the girls and had tied them to climb the mountain & push them off the top. Of course the story ends happily ever after with all the girls returning to Heidi's house with Grandfather & Madame Hilary. A nice family movie that tugs the heartstrings!
The Sound of Music (1965)
I am Sixteen Going on Seventeen...
Where to start?! This is my favorite movie of all time. The acting and directing is sensational. The music and scenery is beautiful. Movies are truly not made like this anymore! I first saw this movie in 1990 when it was re-released on video for the 25th anniversary. I was 6 years old and I immediately fell in love with it when my parents bought it. My favorite character was Marta, the second youngest, because I looked exactly like her as a child. Plus she was my age! My favorites of the children were Marta, Gretl, Liesl, and Brigitta. My favorite scenes are 16 going on 17, Do-Re-Mi, when the Captain finds the children singing to the Baroness, Liesl and the Captain singing Edelweiss, The party for the Baroness, singing at the festival, hiding in the abbey, and finally climbing over the mountain to freedom. Christopher Plummer does a fantastic job of playing the Captain. He is handsome and very charismatic. Julie Andrews, of course, was the star of the movie and also was fantastic...but we already knew that! I think that Eleanor Parker's acting as Baroness Elsa Schraeder was underrated. She played her character perfectly. I actually liked her character, although she was called the "villianess." Richard Haydn was very good as Uncle Max, he made me laugh. I only wish that Charmian Carr, Angela Cartwright, Debbie Turner, and Kym Karath had done more acting as they got older. With the exception of Angela, the other three stopped acting to raise a family.
This is one of the greatest family films ever made! 10/10
Moment of Truth: Why My Daughter? (1993)
Good Movie, but sad.
I saw this when i was home sick one day and thought it was gonna be just another typical lifetime movie, which is fine because i like those movies. It was about an 18 yr. old girl, Diana Moffitt, who after her parents get divorced, gets into exotic dancing by a man she meets at a club(Antontio Sabato Jr.)This leads to prostitution and A.J. starts beating her up. Eventually, she gets in so deep, that she can't get out. When she turns up dead, her mother does everything in her power to seek justice. She knows it was A.J. who killed her daughter, but there is no hard evidence. Good movie, interesting. I felt bad for the mother and the daughter. This was a real story too. Diana Moffitt really was found dead in the late 80s. The real A.J. Treece was sent to jail. **** of *****
