2024anime-008(4/7/2024)

Season 2 2024anime-008(4/7/2024) No matter how serious the plot becomes, this work never forgets to throw in a gag. Even the villains end up becoming endearing after being unreasonably defeated by Mash, which is quite mysterious. It seems that the charm of the other characters is also enhanced due to the existence of a 'bug' character like Mash. The final battle was intensely fought, and it unusually had fewer comedic elements (?), making it more enjoyable for those who are not fans of the gag elements than the first season. It seems that the original work has recently concluded, so I think the anime will end after a few more seasons, but I look forward to its continued production.

2024film-013(4/5/2024) I watched it on "Friday Roadshow" as it was its first terrestrial broadcast. It had been released during my exam period when I couldn't go to the movies, so this was my first time seeing it. I watched it without much prior information, so I enjoyed it as it was a bit different from what I had expected. In "Weathering with You," the previous movie made by Makoto Shinkai, the director, there was some criticism regarding the characters' selfishness, but I think this aspect was improved in this movie. Suzume did act in a way that could be seen as selfish from a human perspective though. Nowadays, with frequent earthquakes both big and small in the real world, the content is sensitive, but the movie is of high quality, so I definitely want various people to see it.

2024anime-007(3/23/2024) At first, I wasn't entirely captivated, but before I knew it, it had become one of my all-time favorite works, something I deeply cherished. I hadn't read the original work, but the battle scenes are beautifully animated and simply the best. Each character is distinct and well-developed, making it a truly engaging work from start to finish. I hope the second season is produced soon. I've also started buying the manga diligently. While the First-Class Mage Exam arc was certainly interesting, my favorite part was undoubtedly the few episodes where the four of them, including Zain, travel together. I think those episodes were the best crafted. The addition of Zain to Frieren's characteristic encounters of once-in-a-lifetime moments created an indescribably perfect atmosphere.

2024-012(3/22/2024) This is the kind of comic book movie I always wanted to see. The use of the multiverse setting is seamless and very watchable. It makes me very sad that the DCEU has ended, just because of that. I'd like a sequel to be made in the same way as the Snyder Cut. (I really want to see Wonder Woman 3 too btw.) The situation where a massive disaster is caused by the sheer desire to see one's mother would probably only resonate with those who have lost their mother or a loved one. I personally really liked the interactions between the slightly different personalities of Barry(am I spelling the name right?) and Barry from different timelines, so I found it enjoyable.

2024film-011(3/10/2024) It seems to be harshly criticized by the public, but it wasn't as bad as the criticism suggests. However, it's also true that it wasn't incredibly interesting either. From my perspective, it felt like the plot was too conveniently set up in favor of the villains. I think about half of the critics are just going along with the general trend and criticizing it without much thought, so I hope those who are interested will watch it without too much prejudice. The ending suggested that there could be a sequel, but given the current reception, I'm a bit saddened by the thought that a continuation might be unlikely.

2024film-010(3/7/2024) I rewatched the first installment in preparation for DUNE2. I recall being overwhelmed by the impressive scale and music when I saw it in theaters. Even watching it through streaming services, the impact remains strong. Given its roots in relatively older SF novels, I noticed familiar elements from recent SF films, but what stuck with me most was the overwhelming sense of scale rather than déjà vu. However, the film could have provided more explanations for its settings, so I recommend researching further on platforms like YouTube for those interested. Particularly, the lack of android-like machines similar to Star Wars may raise questions, which I suggest exploring for answers. I've heard great reviews for the sequel overseas, so I'm eager to catch it in theaters when it's released soon.

2024anime-006(3/4/2024) I rewatched a series that I had once started but lost interest in and dropped out, as it was reputed to be interesting. The result was that I enjoyed it reasonably well. It's set in a fantasy world, as expected, where a middle-aged shut-in named Rudeus starts a new life for himself. What sets it apart from typical overpowering stories is that the drawbacks of his previous shut-in life occasionally come into play, balancing out the successes and failures nicely. The animation was also consistent, making it enjoyable without stress. However, there are quite a few explicit scenes, especially in the beginning, so those who are uncomfortable with that should be cautious.

2024film-009(3/4/2024) It was a movie I knew nothing about, but I was invited by a friend to watch it. With no prior information and not expecting much, I ended up enjoying it more than I imagined. While most of the plot developments were predictable for someone who often enjoys suspense or thriller movies, it was still enjoyable to watch as if checking off answers. Despite some unresolved and odd points, overall it was a good film, making it a decent recommendation as an introductory movie for those starting to explore suspense and thriller genres. However, be cautious as there are quite a few graphic scenes, which might not be suitable for everyone.

Season 6 2024anime-005(2/26/2024) I finally finished watching the sixth season of "My Hero Academia", which I had not been able to watch yet. I watched this season in preparation for the seventh season of the anime airing in spring and the fourth "My Hero Academia" movie being released in summer. The dystopian atmosphere filled with despair in the latter half was really tough. Although a glimmer of hope finally emerged towards the end, connecting to the next season, this season was filled with relentless challenges. It's still tough to see Deku crumbling because of his personality trait of not considering himself, huh. I hope he will be rewarded in the next season and beyond.

2024film-008(2/24/2024) I've finally reached "The Dumpster Battle". Having been produced as a movie, the animation was filled with spirit and was incredibly captivating. It felt more like a continuation of the anime rather than a standalone film, so it was appreciated that they inserted flashbacks at key moments without excessive explanation. Since I haven't read the original manga, I'm not sure if these flashbacks also exist in it. I've been a big fan of Yaku from Nekoma High School since just before watching this movie, so I was delighted to see him shine in this installment as well. I'm really looking forward to the continuation, but I wonder if they'll continue it as a movie or an anime?

2024film-007(2/16/2024) I was able to relive the changes in human interests and concerns according to age in a short period of time. In childhood, everything seen is novel, and interest is shown in everything without concern for others' opinions, simply engaging in innocent actions. In adolescence, interests become focused on sexuality, and Bella, especially with her screws loose, indulges in her desires recklessly. Adolescence is faithful to desire but also emotionally fragile and incomplete. As the transition from youth to adulthood occurs, there is a heightened thirst for knowledge. I honestly didn't find the first two-thirds of the movie very interesting, but the moment Bella's transition to adulthood came, the movie became much more intriguing. Overall, it was a strange and quite disturbing film in my opinion.

2024film-006(2/15/2024) I watched this film for the first time. Just like one of my favorite movie, "The Greatest Showman," which was made by the same production team, the music in this film was also wonderful. Although I'm not a big fan of jazz, I still found this film interesting. I really liked how the first encounter between the two characters was depicted from both perspectives. While the trope of two people with a terrible first meeting gradually growing closer is quite common, the way it was presented felt very clever and well-executed. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are both incredibly talented singers. The ending is also beautiful, as it doesn't leave the viewer with any strange feelings of unease.

2024film-005(2/7/2024) The story of two men who rode their prides in racing cars to live their lives to the fullest. It turned out that it's been unchanged for decades that there are people who unnecessarily intervene in the world of sports where people are fighting purely. The clear distinction between those who genuinely love cars and car racing and those who treat them as mere tools was portrayed vividly. In many cases, wives with husbands in dangerous jobs like race car drivers were often portrayed as opposing their husbands' work, but in this work, the wife consistently supports her husband, making them a very lovely couple.

2024film-004(2/5/2024) This movie is based on true events. It made me realize that the equality we often take for granted in our lives today is thanks to pioneers like them. I learned that the historical reality of segregation and discrimination against Black people, which I knew, was even more unfair and inhumane than I could have imagined. The 1960s was a pivotal period of transformation in overcoming such discrimination, where individuals with extraordinary talent and leadership fought for and achieved equality. To prevent the repetition of such discriminatory history, it is crucial to pass on stories like this film to people living in the present through visual works and other mediums.

Season 1 2024anime-001(1/19/2024) I wanted to watch the movie of this anime series releasing in February, so I saw this for the first time. During high school, I was part of a soccer team, but I wasn't very active. It was enjoyable, but watching this anime made me think that it could have been even more fun if I had been more dedicated. I particularly like stories that shine a spotlight on the countless dreams that have fallen behind the shadows of those who have succeeded, and I teared up watching the relay of emotions. Although the journey is long, it seems like it will be enjoyable to catch up to the most recent season before I go and watch the movie.

Season 2 2024anime-002(2/1/2024) I love how, like in the first season, there's a dramatic elements also on the losing side, and the series values and treats all introduced characters with care. It goes beyond powerhouse schools like Date Industrial High School and Aobajousai High School, focusing on teams like Ougiminami High School, which can't be called powerhouses but are portrayed well. The show manages to evoke emotions even from these teams, making it remarkable. The suspenseful endings leave me eager for the next episode, creating an addictive quality that keeps me hooked, perhaps even more so than the first season.

Season 3 2024anime-003(2/1/2024) I was so captivated that I ended up binge-watching the entire Season 3 in one day after finishing the second season. The cliffhangers at the end of each episodes made me want to keep watching continuously. By the time I finished all of it, I found myself in tears. I'm not sure if I can handle Season 4 with burnout, but I do want to watch it eventually. I initially thought Ushijima might be a more unpleasant character, but turns out, he's just naturally aloof. His genuine pursuit of skill and the respectful attitude towards skilled players make him unexpectedly cool. With this, I've mostly completed my movie preparation.

Season 4 2024anime-004(2/17/2024) Finally finished all the preparation for the movie. This season received lower ratings compared to the previous three seasons, mainly due to personal reasons, primarily because of Hinata's actions being too conspicuous and irritating in the early episodes. However, from the middle to the end, it was enjoyable to watch, so the rating is generally good, but the initial frustration couldn't be overcome in the first 1-5 episodes. However, once the match arc began, the hot developments typical of "Haikyuu!!" unfolded repeatedly, making you want to cheer for everyone, regardless of whether they were on the opposing side or not, and the urge to see more couldn't be stopped. I can't wait to go to the cinema to see the continuation.

2024film-003(1/31/2024) The narrative depicts power struggles within the court surrounding Queen Anne in 18th-century England. Queen Anne, grappling with numerous miscarriages and early deaths of children, appears visibly distressed. Everyone in the court exhibits a chilling madness, creating an unsettling atmosphere. Emma Stone's acting skills shine once again, showcasing her adeptness in portraying characters with unhinged traits, as seen in her previous role as Cruella. I look forward to watching the currently acclaimed "Poor Things". Olivia Colman as Queen Anne and Rachel Weisz as Sarah deliver outstanding, mad performances alongside Emma Stone.

2024film-002(1/30/2024) Having read only the early parts of the original manga series, I watched this adaptation already familiar with the storyline. It became the first movie I saw in theater in 2024. I've come across comments suggesting that Anna Yamada, who portrayed Asirpa, looks too mature, compared to the original manga, and while I understand the sentiment, I actually liked her portrayal. Anna Yamada's performance was charming, and Hiroshi Tamaki's acting was disturbingly (in a good way) spot-on. Fantastic! I earnestly hope for more careful and successful live-action adaptations of manga-based works like this movie.

Season 1 2024tvseries-002(1/14/2024) Revisiting the groundbreaking Season 1 of Stranger Things, which took the world by storm. I aim to catch up to Season 4 before the release of Season 5. The story unfolds in the 1980s in an American town after the disappearance of Will Byers. In the first half, most characters slowly approach the truth from personal events. However, as the story progresses, the individual narratives of each character converge into one compelling overarching story. Winona Ryder's performance is wonderfully unsettling, adding an eerie touch. Despite knowing her circumstances, her portrayal remains frustratingly captivating. On the other hand, Mike and Lucas from the "Losers" are a bit too impatient, making them less likable in my opinion.

Season 2 2024tvseries-003(2/8/2024) First off, the two members of the Wheeler family are just too unlikeable... Nancy, who's incredibly promiscuous, and Mike, who's a super brooding introvert. Especially Mike, watching him was just uncomfortable, sorry. Lucas seemed to have matured properly from Season One, but Mike's been throwing tantrums like a toddler since Eleven's been gone, and it's annoying. His attitude towards Max is just too terrible to be funny. I've written nothing but negatives above, but as a story, it's still intriguing. There are more suspenseful twists than in Season One, making it thrilling to watch.

2024tvseries-001(1/10/2024) It marks a significant milestone as the first creation in the Marvel Spotlight series. "Echo," also known as Maya Lopez, returns home, tracing her roots and confronting the formidable Kingpin to sever ties with her dark past. The series exudes a dark, street-like ambiance reminiscent of the earlier Netflix Marvel productions, offering a grounded and well-crafted narrative compared to recent Marvel works. The show's user-friendly approach aligns with the objectives of a spotlight series, making it easily accessible, as reinforced in the first episode. The desire for a longer run is fueled by appreciation, with Maya's unique family adding a flavorful touch. While Biscuits is charming, personally, I grew fond of Henry towards the end.

2024film-001(1/6/2024) This was my first movie of the year 2024. It's a heartwarming tale of Mi-bo, who constantly thinks about fish day and night, expressing his love for what he enjoys with the support of those around her. The story beautifully portrays how Mi-bo, through her passion, captivates those around him. Though Sakana-kun is now widely known in Japan, his life has been more adventurous than one might imagine. Experiencing various events, meeting different people, and creating miracles through his amiable personality have brought him to where he is today. It makes you appreciate the importance of cherishing the small moments in everyday life.
