Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024)
A brilliant ADAPTATION!! wasted on negative reviewers
Geez, reading some of these negative reviews makes you think whether they have bothered to watched the Netflix series at all. The visual was amazing, the casting was almost spot on with a couple of exceptions, but overall, really really pleased and loved every moment of this adaptation. If you want to watch a like for like, then just watch the original animation instead.
This series really captures the essence of the original animation - friendship, humour and how each character develops over time. There are true moments that brings tears to my eyes. Highly rate Aang and Zuko as the 2 best characters and their acting so far.
Enjoy this with open mind instead and ignore the negative reviews. You can give these people a gold bar and they'll still think it's worthless.
Cannot wait for Book 2, in the meantime, I'll rewatch again as I binged all 8 episodes in 1 go and may have missed some of the details.
******* Update
Omg!! Some 1 star ratings because they saw the trailer and the skin tone of Sokka and Katara were too pale and not enough diversity, so they decided to give the low rating without even bothered watching the series, this is just another level of ignorance and says it all. They are certainly open to their opinions, but it's like having a sniff of your food without tasting it and just throw it away, unbelievable.
Jinjjaga Natanassda! (2023)
Agree with the other reviewer.
Agree with the other reviewer's comment, how the rating so high?!?! 7.2/10?? (July 2023).
I have always rated Korean dramas and movies above most of the Hollywood rubbish released recently, but KDramas of late have been really poor - poor script, poor acting, just not the usual standard when I have started (and enjoyed) watching KDramas.
My wife and I have recently re-watched Hwarang again, THAT is one of the best KDrama and binge watched it in a week, we just can't stand these recent ones, the lack of character building, plot has more holes than a sieve and it's so hard to watch the whole series. Has Korea followed the West to churn out any rubbish just for Netflix??
Anyway, 5 mins into episode 6 and I'm off to have a shower, I'm that bored. We'll just have to pick another old KDrama again, Queen for 7 days? Cyan Landing on You? Kingdom? Rooftop Prince?
I'm happy to watch any of those over and over again to get my KDrama fix.
Sinsawa Agassi (2021)
Was this paid per episode??
This drama was unbearable, I could not endure this until the end, or either that, I would rather end my own life first
Was the writer been paid by each episodes? There was no need to drag this to 52 episodes, the script and the dialogues from each character just make you want to hate them by the end of it. The main character (Park Dan Dan) who literally cries in every episodes, while a multi billion won Chairman can easily be fooled when someone says they are pragnant with his kid. What!?!
I started quite like the drama, it just got worst and worst. I won't go into other details, you may feel different!!
I didn't finish watching this, so I'm still alive!!
Down to Earth with Zac Efron (2020)
Yes, more seasons please. Why have a dig at Darin?!?
Absolutely, love both seasons so far, educational and inspiring. Opening our eyes to some of the world's problems and what we can do to help, even if it's by the tiniest amount.
I find both hosts to be respectful to the people, and the cultures they come across.
I'm not really sure why people are criticising Darin in particular. I think the guy is genuinely passionate in what he believes, and I admire that. People criticise his believes and the information he airs in the program, that is good believe and the information he has, he never claims to be an expert in any of this. Also, I have seen reviews saying his information is dangerous. Surely you, as a reader/viewer wouldn't just listen to someone on TV and do what you're told?? Any intelligent people would do some research themselves and make a judgement yourself.
Both Zac and Darin are core to the 2 seasons so far, they are as they are. Looking forward to more seasons, and if this was released on Blu-ray or 4k, this would definitely on my buy list.
Keep on producing many more seasons!! Loving it!!
Resident Evil (2022)
So not quite Resident Evil, but great story and acting
I can see why the RE die hard fans are unhappy, but it doesn't deserve the low ratings that it has received. You've seen the trailer, so it was obvious that this has a different storyline to the original.
I enjoyed the very first RE movie, but all the subsequent movies were just money grabbing franchise with expensive budget and mediocre acting/story line.
This series give a fresh line of story, the main casts has given decent acting and story line is fresh and riveting. Enjoyed the 1st 3 episodes so far. Compare to whatever that big budget zombie movie based in Las Vegas (can't even remember the name as it was that bad), this is way better.
Just hope more balance reviewers. Mine 9 is just to balance the poor review ratings, maybe a 7/8 realistically.
Sit back and enjoy this great zombie series, it might not be the Resident Evil you expect, but it's well worth watching.
Cobra Kai (2018)
Brilliant continuation to the movie
Don't have many words, but well worth watching. It's has a good story and reminds me of the original movie. Highly recommended.
Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020)
An enjoyable family movie, with heart and laughter.
I don't normally write reviews, but this movie deserves a lot better rating than the 1s (What!?!?). My 10 is to balance out these negative reviews :)
2020 has been a disaster - COVID, problems around the world, and worst of all, 95% of Hollywood releases so far have been diabolical.
I feel this movie has a lot of heart and deserve better rating. Great fun, great laugh, and brings back the missing ESC for this year. I'm glad I have watched this....twice so far!!
Just grab some take-away, get together with your usual ESC buddies and have a great movie night!!
The Karate Kid (2010)
Don't compare it to the original!!
I don't normally write comments/reviews about movies, but I thought I add my piece to justify this movie. I know 10 is a bit high, but it's just to balance out the low ratings (1?!?!) that others have given.
The movie certainly doesn't deserve a full 10, I would give an 8 or even a 9 maybe. I thought Jaden Smith's acting was good, very talented for his age. I have always been a Jackie Chan fan, but his recent movies have been a bit of a let down, however, he played very well in this movie.
Anyway, I'm rubbish with writing review, go and see for yourself. Don't compare this with the original (which tbh, I was never really keen on). This is a movie that you will enjoy the story, the visual that captures China beautiful scenery and a pleasantly surprised (talented) casts. One of the best movie that I have seen this year.
This will definitely be on my BD collection (pre-ordered). Well worth the money.
