We Were Soldiers (2002)
Best war film I have ever seen.
I cannot understand why the user rating on this is 6.9....that is ridiculous. This was an excellent film in every aspect. The acting, cinematography, editing, musical score, story and locations were all top-notch. I enjoyed this film more than I did Saving Private Ryan(also gave a 10 star rating).
I was intrigued by how much Colonel Hal Moore(played by Gibson) really cared about his soldiers. You can really see the pain he endured when his "BOYS", as he called them, were getting killed off during the battle in the "Valley of Death."
The final attack of the film to finish off the Vietnamese was brilliant. Incredible movie with an incredible production team behind it.
Breakdown (1997)
Entertaining Film.
Breakdown is one of those films that really makes you think that in the middle of nowhere, something like this can happen. The only flaw in this movie is when Kurt Russell's character lets his wife get into a truck with a total stranger in the middle of the desert. If any husband does that, he should be awarded a medal for "Moron of the Decade." Aside from that little flaw, this was an action-packed, well-acted film with great locations. Kurt Russell (Jeffrey Taylor) really made this character seem like he was really living it. J.T. Walsh, Kathleen Quinlan, M.C. Gainey provided strong performances as well.
The ending was absolutely superb.
Death Proof (2007)
What was Kurt Russell thinking?
Why Kurt did you agree to do this ridiculous movie by QT? This has got to be the worst movie I have ever seen. The only good part of this movie are the five minutes where Stuntman Mike (Kurt Russell) kills the character of Rose McGowan, and then plows into the car carrying 3 of the most(obnoxious, retarded, bimbos cinema has ever seen) head on at 200 MPH. That is why I am giving this a 3 and not a 1. That part was spectacular.
The dialog is so absurd, girls talking about nonsense throughout the entire movie. Even the continuity of the film was bad. It almost seemed like QT wanted the continuity to be bad on purpose to give it some kind of QT effect that his fans would probably call brilliant and a genius at work.
Wosrt movie I have ever seen. Even Kurt Russell could not save this travesty.
Dark Blue (2002)
Better than Training Day.
I was completely blown away by the message of the film. I felt it was better than Training Day. Very strong performances by Kurt Russell, Ving Rhames and Brendan Gleeson. The rest of the cast was pretty solid as well. Does anyone in the Police Department investigate dishonest cops? Ron Shelton did a great job with the direction of this film. Eldon Perry played by Kurt Russell undergoes such character development throughout this movie, realizing what kind of a human being he has been, not just as a cop, but to his wife, his son and himself. I thought the ending was incredible. I don't want to say what happens, but what a great time and place for Eldon Perry to say what he has to say.
This film also had to do with the Rodney King beating and the riots that followed the verdict. Rodney King is no angel, but those cops were not using standard self-defense procedures. You have to be kidding me? Beating a man down while he is handcuffed? The shame of this is is that those four ex-cops give other cops a bad reputation, which is unfair because there are some good police officer's out there that do have good moral values.
Faded Dreams (2007)
What a waste of a great athlete.
I enjoyed this movie very much and wish it could have a large distribution, especially among high school sports programs. It is sad to see such abuse perpetrated on such innocent children.
I would also urge the scouting camps to seek other resources than schools (and only a few of them at best) to measure a student's readiness for bigger opportunities. Perhaps they could have gone to the family themselves instead of taking the word of a few or one individual as to the qualifications of a potential athlete.
Where in the world was the principal of the school in all this travesty?
