Silo (2023)
Best Sci-Fi show since The Expanse!!!
It starts slow, but builds up (although slowly, but that I prefer) to straight 10/10 episodes at the end.
I have not read any of the books, but just downloaded on my Kindle the other books, I can't wait one year before I get to know what happens.
This is the best Sci-Fi series since The Expanse, even better than Andor , which will only be 2 seasons.
Amazingly written, acted, with great work from Ferguson and Tim Robbins. And the music is fantastic, it's perfect for the series, intense and very suspense. Atli Örvarsson did an amazing job here (he did great in Defending Jacob also, but here its masterclass)!
If you prefer fast and easy action series, with something happening all the time this is not for you, but give it a try, from episode 5 its straight 10/10 episodes, and the first 5 are 8's and 9's.
Luther: The Fallen Sun (2023)
Dumb, dumber, dumbest!
Imagine Dexter season 8 made into a movie and you might get an idea how bad and dumb this movie is. It's actually worse! First half is kind of ok, but the moment they travel to Norway (with an imaginary ferry, cars with summertires, one body in the trunk in each car that nobody cares, or notices. And Norway (being Iceland), lots of snow and ice, but both cars manage easily to drive all the way up with no problems! Silly! And cold? Ice covered house and walls but not a single breath is seen from anyone's mouth, obviously indoor filmed. And the phone!! Not only do they have super-fast internet connection up on the mountain, but a phone that survives minutes under cold water, AND send a signal to open doors! UNDER WATER!!
Good thing I could see this at home in my living room, if I had gone to the cinema for this I would have been immensely pissed of how bad movies could end up at the cinema
AVOID!
Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities (2022)
Good buildup, cliched ending, very disappointed
Episode 1
The story is good, the sound and settings are great, it builds up to something special, and ends everything it took 90% of the episode to destroy and make it like all the other crappy horror stories that doesn't really have a proper ending.
The ending is like a weak Twilight Zone ending, it's dumb, its cheap, where you, rather than being scared, or, entertained even ... just feel like you've wasted 45 min minutes of your life that was a cliche like all the worst and most boring horror stories.
I don't know if I should call it horror even, not a single minute that is scary. But it could have been, but the last 5 minutes are so bad that it's amazing that it got made.
Lets hope episode 2 is better.
Ms. Marvel (2022)
Loved it! Even if 50+ old guy!
After dreadful Obi-Wan Kenobi episodes and not a fan of any Avengers movie, I was not sure if I would even bother watching one episode of Ms. Marvel
Glad I did!
Alive and funny, warm and hilarious, it reminded me of "Into The Spider-verse", made with such an attention to details and love for the comics ... and genre!
My daughter at 11 feel asleep watching Obi-Wan (wish it was me), but she also enjoyed this, even if a bit younger than target audience! (Then again, I am some decades too old for the target audience so I guess it evens out!)
Hope the next 5 will have the same standard as this one!
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Well done series ... but after 3 episodes its more exciting to watch paint dry
After E1 (6/10), E2 (6/10) I didnt have high hopes for E3 ... but hoped at least it would improve on the first two. Boy was I wrong!!
Such a drag and boring episode.
The dialogues are worse than the worst from Star Wars I-III, and nothing happens. How can you make it exciting when you know Leia, Luke, Obi-Wan/Ben and Darth Vader all survives for future movies?
I love Mandalorian, but after The Book of Boba Fett. I don't have much faith in the Star Wars universe ... other than The Mandalorian.
Even my daughter fell asleep from boredom!
Nordsjøen (2021)
Good build up... awful ending
This movie is of two halves. First 2/3 is ok, slow build up, somewhat believable, but from "setting the sea on fire" and out its AWFUL!! Should have spent some more time and money on a better ending, seems like they ran out of money, or idead, probably both.
A Quiet Place (2018)
What a STUPID movie
How people can find this movie smart is beyond me.
How hard would it be to record a scream, Place a speaker in the middle of a dam of petrol, or dynamite or other kinds of explosives and turn the volume to 11 (you don't really need it loud either, they can hear the smallest bump from 100's of 100's of meters away (km even?), but not a person breathing heavily in pain 1m away. Just make sure to be some distance away, since they are always, 5-10 sec away, no matter where you are, even if its only 3 of them. The moment they attack the Source of the noise, just press the trigger and BOOOOOM no more aliens.
Or to make the Movie 20 min longer, Place 10-15 speakers around and blast some Death Metal on full (or Red Hot Chili Peppers, that worked at Guantanamo) blast and all aliens would flee the planet in Seconds
AVOID!
I Spit on Your Grave 2 (2013)
What a waste of time this movie is!
I found the remake of "I spit on your grave" an OK revenge movie, with not too much "tortureporn" , but more focus on the revenge part. This movie though is pure and utterly crap!
Someone wrote this is almost as good as "Martyrs" - which for me was a great and original and pure evil movie, this though is just crap from first second to the last.
Awful acting, awful dialog, with a plot that has gets a 0 in originality, if you watched 5 horror movies in your life you know every next scene and what will happen.
The movie has so many plot holes and linear mistakes that it's amazing this movie was made at all, which its box office (an impressive $441) numbers is a good sign of how bad this movie is.
I really hope DVD/blue-ray sales of this movie doesn't make whoever made this movie more than its box office numbers, since 800+ dollars for this movie is at least 700 too much.
Avoid and beware, this movie suck!
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Long, noisy and boring
I had great expectations when I went to see this one. After 30 min I was thrilled, thinking this would be the best of the 3 Batman movies by C Nolan, then after 1 hour I was bored, just watching the watch to see how much more I had to suffer through this over pretentious movie.
Not to mention deaf by the way too (much) loud sound effects, and struggling to hear Batman's voice (warf warf) and Bane's metallic one.
And Bane?? Even Kick Ass would ... kick his ass .... easily, not to mention what Hit Girl would do to such a lame villain.
Hugely disappointing movie that I had looked forward to for months to see, good thing I didn't spend more of my money seeing it at IMAX. For ones, most of the newspaper reviews got it right, and film magazines as Total Film and Empire got it all wrong (they do more and more, just see what they wrote about "worst movie of the last 1 years" Kill List).
Kill List (2011)
Most overrated movie of the year
This must be one of the worst and most boring movies I have seen since Transformers 3 - what a drag of a slow moving, slow paced and uninspired characters. I was mystified for 20 min about how this would end, what happened in Kiev, why did people say "Thank you" when they were offed? But no answer to any of these, with an ending so cheap and awful I wanted to throw my Blue Ray disc out the window when I finished watching. And the ending!! Phew! What a crappy cheap ending! Such a shame, I had looked forward to this. Empire, Total Film among others raved about this. Oh boy did they get it wrong! Crap Crap Crap. Another proof that movie magazines sometimes just get it SO wrong, but usually not this bad as this movie.
Almost as bad as Cabin Fever! AVOID!!!
Ju-on (2002)
What a waste of time .....
How come great directors have crappy movies as "the scariest movie I've ever seen"? Why Peter Jackson said something good about "Cabin Fever" and now Sam Raimi do the same about this crap?
"Ju-on - The Grudge" is the most boring, non scaring, "trying to sound scary but sounds like an Arne Nordheim playing in is sleep" movie I've seen in a long time, at least since the dreadful "Cabin Fever". At least they have more in common with great directors praising their movies, both "Ju-on : The Grudge" and "Cabin Fever" are unbelievable dull, boring, stupid and without a single scare. Wanna be scared ? Just watch "Dawn of the Dead" remake, the introduction alone is 1000 times more scary than these 2 crappy movies.
Try "Ringu", "Dark Water" or "The Eye" instead of this crap (how and why its been made into an American movie is also unbelievable).
