Ride the Thunder (2015)
A movie about the so-called "Reeducation Camp"
The good part of the film is it gives the world an idea about the so-called "Re-education Camp". Ex-soldiers of South Vietnamese Army and ex-officer of Vietnamese government who were told to show up for 1 week of education ended up between a few years and 16 years in concentration camps where many died of hunger, sickness or execution. But the movie shows South Vietnamese prisoners in camp uniforms but in fact, no camp uniforms were given to prisoners. They wore in the camps what they wore when showing up for "one week of education".
But I find the format of the film is weird, it's part movie, part documentary.
The Greatest Beer Run Ever (2022)
2 cents from a Vietnam War witness
I was a university student in Saigon when American troops were leaving Vietnam. Because I was not in the US Army, I could not comment if it was a true story, but from a civilian's point of view, it was ridiculous for the US Army to allow an American civilian guy to go to the battles just to deliver some beers to his friends. If he did it in Saigon, while his soldier friends were talking a temporary leave, it would be more logical and realistic. But of course, if so then the story wouldn't make it to a movie. But I can tell that the night jeep trip from Kon-Tum to Pleiku that his GI friend took Donahue to couldn't happen in real life because it was very dangerous to do that during the war. The lone jeep would be ambushed many times.
