Malevolent (2018)
Excellent jump scare however
I'm a hardcore spooky horror fan and have been watching scary stuff for forty years . Not much makes me jump, however this has a early on jump scare that frightened me, it was fantastic! So because of this I powered through - however, there wasn't much beyond this and I was fairly disappointed. Some good acting, which helps- but it wasn't original or scary after the jump scare. I wish more directors knew how to hold tension longer and there are some amazing scary films out there that do this really well. My point is, if they can do, why can't all directors? It's like, 'why bother unless it's good?
Somewhere Between (2017)
Er confusing
I can't work out specifically what's wrong with this series but I'll start with the script- very poor writing and dynamics between characters. Acting is not great but on the plus side it's a very interesting concept. And I think that's the confusing part- why half arse this series so badly but have potentially a very good story. I mean if the takes are bad - do them until there better! Get the actors to Act better- change the script to improve the dialogue. Just saying s'all. I was waiting for things to improve but unfortunately it actually got ridiculous at one point and I nearly switched it off.
The Couple Next Door (2023)
It starts off strong, however....
I was looking forward to this series and couldn't wait to see what it had to offer due to the exciting trailers. At first I was not disappointed as there was a sizzling buildup- however sub plots began to develop which left me wondering where this was all going. The problem was the sub plots didn't really go anywhere or have anything to to with the main event. Then we had to make some huge leaps in suspension of disbelief as it soon becomes absurd. All in all a good start but it could have been much better if the plot had been focused and not all over the place. So I'm afraid I feel a little disappointed.
