Kaabil (2017)
Good movie must watch
KAABIL is a well made action thriller. It's very interesting to see a blind man (played wonderfully by Hrithik Roshan) seek revenge in an unusual, unexpected, fun way. It's not a film to be judged critically since it's just a fun action movie with plenty of thrilling twists and turns in the plot.
Hrithik is the first and foremost reason why KAABIL works so well. Every other actor does a decent job, but he delivers his career's best performance. There's one emotionally intense scene in the first half in which you wish to cry along with him. He never makes you feel he is able to see anything with his eyes.
The action sequences are stylish and thrilling to watch, while the dialogues and emotional scenes too are excellent.
KAABIL is not without its share of flaws. The first half is a bit slow when it comes to the basic theme of the film. In the second half, the songs create hindrance.
But the climax definitely takes you by surprise, and you need to see it to believe it.
KAABIL is an entertaining action thriller. Watch it if you still haven't.
Aashiqui 2 (2013)
Good movie
Aashiqui 2 starts of beautifully with a captivating song that you will find yourself humming as you walk out of the theater. Many things hold the movie strong. This was the first time I saw the lead pair Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor and i was mighty impressed. Aditya with his semi-dashing,semi-conservative looks does a great job portraying a conflicted singer who is past his prime and turned an addicted alcoholic. Shraddha who plays a budding singer whom Aditya promotes exhibits great talent playing a charming and loving girl. The lead pair move the strings in your heart with their powerful performances. The audio of the movie is superlative, the background score is good and two- three songs stand apart. The songs and great acting are the highlights of the movie.
On the flip side the second half kinda drags with belabored scenes along with a few scenes that lack common sense. The movie should probably have been half an hour shorter. The ending is unconventional as well.
Agneepath (2012)
Good
The best thing about the movie was it was on a constant roll, never trying to fill in stuff. From the moment we witnessed the small Birju with all his intensity and the menacing Kancha, we knew something special was in store. This is the first time i have found Sanjay dutt this scary ,even more threatening that his Khalnayak Role. Rishi kapoor proves once again why is the versatile hero of bollywood. Nobody could have done that rauf lala role better.
But the person who has lent his heart and soul into the film is hrithik. He has expressed so many moods and emotions in one movie, this may be his best role till date. There are so many subtle tender moments in the movie with Hrithik alternating between vengeance(Kancha), comradeship(Gaitaonde)and Joy ( seeing his sister). However at times i felt certain scenes were overdone to intentionally create a dramatic effect. Ah but thats bollywood.
Cocktail (2012)
Good
Homi Adajania's 'Cocktail' has a Winning First-Half, but an Average Second. It begins wonderfully & offers some hilarious moments, but in the latter hour, the proceedings not only become serious but also very dry. Nonetheless, a decent effort!
'Cocktail' is about 3 friends, of whom each, falls in love with one another.
'Cocktail' rides on an excellent first-hour, with each sequence working big-time. But as mentioned, the second-hour is average. The proceedings appear dry. Imtiaz Ali & Sajid Ali's Screenplay is good, but could've been tighter in the latter hour. Homi Adajania's Direction is highly efficient. Cinematography, Editing & Production Design, are top-class. Music by Pritam, is terrific.
Performance-Wise: Saif Ali Khan is a fine actor & the actor once again pitches in a sincere, believable performance. Deepika Padukone is fantastic, her performance stands out. Diana Penty does quiet well, although her role lacks meat. Dimple Kapadia & Boman Irani are impeccable. Their sequences are simply hilarious! Randeep Hooda deserved a better deal.
Lion (2016)
Nice
Lion
'Lion' showed a lot of promise. There was potential for a very powerful story, had heard a lot of good things about it (as seen from many positive reviews and a high rating here) and there is a lot of talent involved. A lot of my friends had said how much it touched them, as have many reviewers here, and it seemed like my kind of film.
Fortunately, 'Lion' was a film that had great potential and mostly lived up to it. Cannot say that for many recent viewings, with a few too many wastes of good concepts and potential (along with wastes of talent, that is a bugbear of mine because it feels like somewhat of a slap of the face) so that there was a film that did not waste it was refreshing and restored a bit of faith. It is a very good film, albeit it was very nearly a great film. That it wasn't the great film all the way through than when it started is something of a shame, but there are so many great qualities all the same.
It is an uneven film sure, starting with the negatives. The second half is not as strong as the first half, it is not as compellingly paced and the clarity of storytelling is less good, some of it feeling vague. That is not to say it is unwatchable, it is still touching in spots in a film that is quite the emotional experience.
Baby (2015)
Nice
Neeraj Pandey's 'Baby' is a another winner from the Writer-Director. An Engrossing Film, that serves as an impressive espionage action thriller. Its well-paced & also well-acted! 2015...has clearly got its first winner!
'Baby' Synopsis: A group of Indian Patriots, track down Muslim Terrorists, who are planning a series of bomb blasts.
'Baby' has a decent first-hour, where the drama & the brutal action-sequences leave a mark. But, its the second-hour, which is a complete knock-out. The final 40-minutes especially, when our heroes capture the kingpin & plan to get him back home, offer nail-biting moments. Despite a long running-time of over 158-minutes, 'Baby' makes very good use of its length!
Pandey's Screenplay is strong all through. The first-hour isn't without its moments, but the Second-Hour takes the narrative to an all time high. Pandey's Direction is equally competent. Cinematography is lavish, it captures the exotic locales of Istanbul, Nepal, Dubai & India, admirably. Editing is a bit loose at times, but is otherwise crisp. Action-Sequences are raw, but effective. Background Score is superb.
Kabir Singh (2019)
Best movie.
His movie is about a guy who has uncontrollable anger and nobody has been able to control his anger being a top medical student. He does things for a girl which is totally unrealistic and extremely open. The girl seems to be so dumb to accept anything and everything he says and he does. They seem to be madly in love that the scenes are mainly about being intimate without having any meaningful conversation.
The guy and the girl wants to get married but are not able to do so due to family pressure. Families seem little logical here. The guy's family has not been able to control him for any of his actions.
In latter part, psycho has gone crazy after girl has been forcefully married by her parents. He gets into more and more trouble. Family gets little bothered now. There is a happy ending for such a dark story which is unacceptable.
Bãhubali: The Beginning (2015)
Nice
I was eagerly waiting for this film and I was not disappointed.
Baahubali is one of the most visually impressive films that have come from India. Everything about this film is good - Story, direction, beautiful cinematography, haunting score and amazing visuals (though they lack some details at some places).
I didn't know who Rajamouli was, basically because I am from North India and I don't follow south Indian cinema. But I am sure he is someone you should know about. SS Rajamouli is amazing. He has made something that we can be proud of. I was sure that the VFX would be good however I had a doubt about the story. Rajamouli proved me wrong with this film. The story and the execution is really good. Story takes elements from Indian mythologies (specially from the life of Lord Krishna) . You can not expect more. He took a big risk and made it big. This is what we need, good quality cinema. Salman fans should learn something from it.
English Vinglish (2012)
Nice
Many will know I have been following Bollywood films over the last few years with keen interest, with one of the prime reasons being, why not? We have dedicated halls and screens which are always showing the latest the industry has to offer, very often having same day premieres, and I cannot fathom having to close this option off for the lack of language ability. English subtitles is a boon, and my only option to understand what's being said on screen. English is of course the plot element here in this film, written and directed by Gauri Shinde, who has made a film that's strong in heart, and powerful in performance.
I'm talking about Sridevi's comeback to cinema, having retired some 15 years ago to raise her kids. And this leave of absence surely helped her in her protagonist role here, but more on that later. For those unaware, like I was previously, Sridevi is arguably the best actress Indian Cinema has produced over the last few decades, and it is only today that I fully understood why. Her performance.
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001)
Best movies
Karan Johar's Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is one of the most ravishing, grandiose and melodramatic Hindi films ever made. It is incredibly unrestrained and stormy in its emotional quotient, and yet so watchable, enjoyable and at times even pleasurable, that you can't but applaud to this spectacular show. It is one of the few films where overacting seems superb acting and overly melodramatic proceedings, despite being very cheesy and occasionally clichéd, become quite bearable. It combines realism and surrealism, comedy and heavy melodrama in a very unique style, which makes for an altogether colourful picture which is fun to watch.
The film is about relationships in family, about loving your parents and your family, about pride, values and regret. The well defined and written characters are used to create and present all these qualities. Even the least emotional scenes are accompanied by orchestrated violins, heavy piano and strikingly sad pictures on-screen. The film shows both the bright and dark sides of happy families, and while it never breaks new ground, never looks totally authentic, it is always entertaining in spite of its flaws. It depicts both the Indian traditional world and the western modern world and tries to bring them together in many instances.
Ghulam (1998)
Must watch late 90s
Never be fixed
I first saw this in a theater in the late 90s. Revisited it recently. The film is an unofficial remake of On the Waterfront. While this one aint no masterpiece like the original, it has lots of action n thrilling moments. The most iconic one is the train sequence. The final showdown between the hero n the villain is a solid one too. The performance by the lead actor Aamir Khan is the highlight. Rani Mukherjee looked stunning throughout n very nice in the last scene with her black tshirt. Deepak Tijori's sideburns n his jacket is a big lol. The film does have its flaws.
The boxing match looked clearly rigged n not at all an official championship one. One of the fighter is not landing punches or defending himself but jus stayingin in one place, hands behind the rope n suffering punches by the opponent. The house/bldg doesn't have any safety hedge or any grill around. The jackets worn by the bikers are pathetic. Some of the side characters who played the bikers looked uncles n not at all youngsters.
Siddhu, a tearaway and ned, is a boxing champion. His elder brother is the accountant and henchman for a slumlord. The slumlord is a former boxing champion who rules the local community by terrorising people, extorting money from local shopkeepers n hoteliers n sometimes by match fixing. Siddhu convinces a social worker who reminds him of his dead father, into an ambush, preventing the social worker from persuading the local people to sign a police complain against the slumlord. Siddhu assumed that the slumlord's henchmen were only going to have a talk with the social worker to pressure him into not convincing the local people to file a police.
ImMATURE (2019)
Great
The Story of the series follows the schoollife of Dhruv and his friends , Kabir and Susu as they try to become mature in the eyes of the world. It is the story of their first bike, first drink, first 'gundagardi' but above all it is the story of Dhruv's first love. The series which has been nominated for The Best Web Series Category at CanneSeries 2018, At Cannes Film Festival is a journey of the schoollife of the backbenchers. But , above all it is an wonderful teenage love story. Wonderful creation by Apurv Mistry and Sameer Saxena, this series will strike too many a chords deep down your heart. And the show stealers are Omkar as Dhruv and the beautiful Reshmi Agdekar ('Dani' from Andhadhun) as Chhavi Upadhyay, Dhruv's crush and first love. Just see this awesome series if you want a journey down memory lane and want to experience pure Indian teenage love ( not like 'Punch Beat' or 'SOTY' which presents too edgy a representation of the Indian School Life to be true). Go and watch this awesom series, with its beautiful cast and acting and I can guarantee you, you're gonna love it and what's more, you'll not be able to forget it easily- just as you cannot your first love❤❤❤❤

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023)
Must watch great
There's one popular franchise that I can't seem to like, it's the Hunger Games franchise. None of the films gave me something wonderful and so special that it left such an impression on me. This new release doesn't deviate much from that. It is again a very weak film that fails to develop a story in a captivating way. This actually occurs during the middle of the film, where most of the action scenes take place. The film as a whole always seems to drag on, but part 2 is much better than the rest precisely because it escapes this tiring pace that doesn't go anywhere. Part 3 is where it gets even more tiring. The film always seems to be coming to an end, but it never ends. The beginning and middle seem not to be connected with the end. It feels like you're watching two movies and it ends up being even more unbearable. There are many problems in the development of the story as a whole, especially those of some important characters. It's a mediocre film that doesn't deviate from the franchise's standards. It's not the worst, it's not the best. It is a film that becomes forgettable.

It was a great adaptation, the most faithful one since Catching Fire. Rachel Zegler is a great singer and a great actress. The songs are very important to the story, every song contains an important part of the movie ESPECIALLY the one she sings laying down by the lake.
People need to actually pay attention to what they're watching.
