La sociedad de la nieve (2023)
A decent one
Society of The Snow
8/10
Two months. Seventy and one days. Stranded in the cold. No food. No heat. That you have to eat the dead. Sleep with no bed. Miraculously, some alived.
It is scarier than horror movies. The thrill is real. Crashed. Stranded. Even buried for a few days under the snow after a snow storm. I can only ask, "If any, could it be even worse?" RUG
Society of The Snow is an Oscar Nominee. And I Awouldn't be surprised if they win. I still got the shivers after watching it. Cried a bit in the last part when they got reunited with their families.
Sadful. Emotional. Tearjerker.
P. S. Do not watch it while you are eating.
Sayap-Sayap Patah (2022)
Perfectly done
Sayap-Sayap Patah
This movie was dense, stressful, and emotional. Surprisingly good. It levels up the movie industry of Indonesia.
I wasn't so intrigued by this movie at first. I thought it was just about a cliché adult love story that I usually avoid. Until someone said it wasn't. That's when I got eager to watch it.
Turns out that this movie is about terrorism. It tells about a group of religious extremists who murder innocent people. Also, this movie is inspired by a true story.
Overall it was a rollercoaster of emotions. It's worth your 100 minutes to watch this.
I would rate this movie 9 out of 10.
Gadis Kretek (2023)
Got that romance, drama, and action in one.
REVIEW GADIS KRETEK
I decided to watch this series because it was everywhere on X (formerly known as Twitter). Before that, I already knew the book, it was a hot topic once. The book-with the same title-was written by Ratih Kumala who happened to be Eka Kurniawan's wife. No wonder why I felt deja vu when watching the series, because it shares the same taste with Eka's plotting. They have historical writing style.
The series alone was mainly about cigarette. Dasiyah, as the main character, was a daughter of Mr Idroes, owner of Kretek Merdeka company, and she had a big ambition to make its sauce. But, women aren't even allowed to enter the sauce room. Then she met Raja when she was going to the local market with her father. Raja became one of their workers. Dasiyah and Raja fell for each other, but the universe seemed to not get their way. This, is when the story began.
I got to say the plot was really well done. It was a beautiful play, and well, the actors acted pretty natural, especially Dasiyah and Raja. Dian Sastro succeded to draw all the emotions. This series got all the romance, drama, and action in one.
I rate 8/10.
