The Foot (2023)
The Foot Forever
Although the sound and lighting were off at times, this is an astounding directional debut from Rhys Bell. Written to entertain, the relationship between Theo and Elijah is a constant focus and comedic relief for the underlying message.
The performances were incredible, particularly Thomas Bishop's representation of a self-assured, but at times insecure Bigfoot hunter. Every moment was believable, and his work made you fall for Theo from the very first scene. You cared about what happened to him.
Many stories have been written about wanting to please parents who otherwise dismiss your dreams and goals. But this short film continues on the many that have come before it in a heart-wrenching way, without the ending you hope for, and without the ending many people hope for with their parents.
A gripping 18 minutes of laughter, hope and pulling at heart strings. 8/10, would recommend.
