Realistic to a fault but cute

Warning: Spoilers
The beginning of the story is quite generic and a little boring but as the story panned to the present, it almost became a little too overbearing. The problems were normal and realistic at first and I think thats great to educate the audience and gives them a more based perception of a marriage rather that the happily ever after usually portraied.

However, srks character did become annoying at times and unrelatable. There chemistry together always patched things up though and srks charm managed to shine through. At the end of the day, although realistic, I would've liked a more solid ending instead of a "I promise to be better" as in reality (following their que), this usually leads to the same pattern and can be a sign of future abuse and problems. I almost wanted the ending to be sad after srks behaviour and lack of maturity or some sort of repercussion.

Different and Charming

The story is different to the usual tropes of Bollywood stories during the 90s. SRK plays a likable and relatable character yearning for success without consideration of his values while Juli does a similar role, they are inherently different in their personalities.

Although the antagonist performed decenty, a lot of the characters from his end didn't have much depth including his wife and secretary. They lost their importance through the story and seemed more side characterish than initially portraied.

Essentially the story is about growth and how SRK and Juli realise the value of love over the materialistic life they desired. However the story did not explore that growth thoroughly and skipped over it for the most part.

Nonetheless, the story was fun and entertaining throughout. The characters were likeable and interesting. The chemistry between SRK and Julli always is a pleasure to watch and the songs were a lot of fun. A nice watch.

Engulfing and Inspiring

Modern concepts, old audience. The movie captures the image of a marriage perfectly (although i am yet to be married) and the struggles alongside it. The propagation of life as it collides with ones relationship and many mistakes that we can learn from.

I was hooked after the initial setting, not knowing wether to expect a moral but compromised ending or a taboo satisfying one. Every actor performed brilliantly in bringing out the inner layers if their characters. Although I was a little weirded out by Abitabh (he is usually the macho serious guy), I grew to like each and every character. But could never hate Shahrukh no matter what character he plays (this one almost had me).

The chemistry between Shahrukh and Rani was great, maybe even better than s x k. The dynamic between the 2 couples were perfect and always interesting to see them interact. The humour was just right while being serious when necessary. Although at times, Shahrukh's jokes would get a little too intrusive but the reciprocating annoyance from the rest of cast would extinguish my own.

Overall I think this is one of Shahrukh's best movies. A rollercoaster of emotions on every turn and an engaging cast that delivered a great performance.
