Kuolleet lehdet (2023)
Mediocre .. only good reviews because it's from Finland
To me this is a bit the case of art over substance. I mean it is interesting how if you zoom in you have all ingredient for even a three hour big time thriller and to see it cooked down to what it is. It is not much of a spectacle. It pushes some buttons and the actors do well. But yet I couldn't help to check my watch every now and then even during this short running time. This was my first Kacki Karusmöki film and I am not sure if I will watch more of it. To me there are lot more interesting films to watch before revisiting this. How about some facial expressions at least. Kind of felt a little lazy to me. It's a little bit like Jim Jarmusch but with a huge amount of Asperger's. Or David Lynch minus a chromosome.
River (2021)
3/10 is by far too high of a rating
I'm not even joking. I wouldn't even call this a movie at all. I mean sure. Someone held a camera and things moved in front of it, but that's basically as close as it gets to something related to a film. I tried to find anything at least, but there is absolutely nothing. Courtney Gains is like a D actor already, but I still don't get how he agreed to this. At what point did anyone think that this is somewhat of a story that makes any sense. Didn't anyone notice that there is no plot in there ? Really bad dialogues and the matching acting to it. The way it's filmed it could have been done in a day. Maybe two to get from one place to the other. But then you just have shaking camera all the time. 1/10 is the correct rating for this abomination.
Past Lives (2023)
Doesn't always have to be action and big budgets
I really start to dig more and more Chinese movies and shows. Just watched Beef recently. It is really impressive how they improved in the last years. I didn't even know they know anything about films. But I guess nowadays you can learn everything from everywhere with the internet. Another idea would have been to make this story with three guys. Sometimes I have difficulties telling them apart, but since we only had to deal with very few Asians it worked pretty well. I also think that the Jewish friend from the female lead was pretty cool. He added another layer to the whole. Maybe I will even watch this movie a second time.
Deadliest Mums & Dads: A Merciless Mother (2022)
How is a 12 year old a true crime specialist?
I just came here to comment on the 12 year old ginger kid who is supposedly a true crime expert. Haha. That's funny. Show was cool up until that moment. This true crime segment is really a thing and I think it's a little weird. It's kind of watching snuff movies. Like gawking for sensation. I mean I watch it myself lol. But go away with 12 year old kids as experts. Go have hobbies and a real job.

There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane (2011)
Not nearly as good as it says
I was looking for twists or some other things in here but this turned to just be a drunken and high person driving a car and killing a lot of people. I even found that in a list of paranormal or mystery documentaries. What a joke. And a bunch of people who just like to hear themselves talking and not accepting the truth. I first thought maybe someone else was also in the car or something. Like some sort of kidnapping or whatever. It's really boring and could have been told in like 20 minutes at max. Maybe she was just over with everything. Taking care of 99 kids. Doing everything. That one old lady even said her husband was like her oldest child. Like come on. Maybe she just lost it. A husband who doesn't really do anything.
