Spenser Confidential (2020)
Not a comedy
This film is not a comedy. How can it be with so much violence from beginning to end? Fist fights, decapitations, dog mauling, women beaten up, bad cops, knives in the back, cats killed, and that all happens in the first 1 hour and 10 minutes. I really want to continue to watch it to the finish, to find out who/what/why behind the crimes and coverups, which is why I wish the movie could have stuck with the mystery and suspense aspect, without all the blood and over the top violence. Or in the least, do the violence off screen. As far as the actors, Winston Duke was interesting, and of course, Alan Arkin did great.
Immanence (2022)
Not very good!
I tried to give this film a chance, but no can do. Too many problems: 1) a lot of talking 2) uninteresting characters 3) filmed in the dark the entire movie?? 4) I cannot stand the actor Eugene Byrd (Davis) in any project. Something about him really turns me off. He has the same attitude/demeanor in every role he's given. 5) Not enough action or suspense, a boring script. 6) None of the actors are very exciting to watch. Even Michael Beach which is one of the reasons I decided to give this a try. 7) This suppose to be a science fiction story, but it didn't measure up at all to what I expected.
The View (1997)
Incredible, not so much.
How does the producers not see how wrong a host is for the show? Besides a bad attitude, lack of professionalism and likability, Ms. McCain is a liar. In fact, she has been caught at lying on several occasions. Example, her falsely stating her neighborhood in ruin is the latest one of her fabrications topping the whopper cake. Yet, TPTB keep her on the View, even as she diminishes the enjoyment and creditability of the program through lies, hyperboles, and offending again and again, all the while riding her father's name and victim playing.
Harbinger Down (2015)
Not bad, not that good, either
Starts out with a shaky camera, then as the picture stabilizes, the dialog and characters disappoint throughout the rest of the film. Worse of all, the majority of the movie has nighttime, dark scenes, making it hard to make out what you see.
The Rhythm Section (2020)
Not entertaining, very disappointing.
Problems: (1) Starts with a 30 minute drawn out boring scene of a sobbing, depressed, drug addicted street woman. (2) Shaky camera, out of focus picture quality, and dialog that you can only make out half the time. (3) Terrible acting, or should I say overacting? Characters and emotions you couldn't care less about.
Crossbreed (2019)
Can't believe I stuck with it the entire running time
This movie is supposed to be reminiscent of the 70's and 80's, but it fails in every cinematic way possible. The characters have no character. The dialog and acting is terrible and wooden. Also, too much profanity. The leading stars barely in the film. Maybe 5 mins total at best.
