House of the Dragon (2022)
Sleep-Inducing
Having watched three episodes, I can say with confidence that this show is a snooze! Even the "action" scenes (which are few and far between!) are dull. Mostly, boring characters sit around and talk about their uninteresting problems. The actors are fine, the production is lavish-but the show is just inert. Will the show get better after these first three episodes? Don't know and don't care! This show is not compelling, engaging, or even entertaining! I was a "Game of Thrones" fan (well, until that awful final season!), but "House of Dragons" really isn't in the same league as GoT. Disappointed!
Emergency!: Quicker Than the Eye (1974)
Mark Spitz, Thespian
This is an okay episode of this entertaining series, but it's saddled with two non-actors giving terrible performances. Mark Spitz is one of the greatest swimmers ever, and he was the star of the '72 Olympics. He wisely steered clear of pursuing a career in acting. Watch this episode to see why. Mrs. Mark Spitz is very pretty, and that's all you can say about her work here. The producers of "Emergency!" cast the couple in the show for their celebrity status, but it was a mistake to give them these very "dramatic" roles. I hate to say it, but I was laughing as Suzy Spitz was pleading for her baby's life.
Annabelle Comes Home (2019)
Mediocre
The cast is not impressive, the story is kind of stupid, the scares are strictly "by the book." This flick isn't really a "stinker," and there are worse ways to spend 90 minutes, but it's very forgettable. Could have used more Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson! I don't expect we'll be hearing much from the substandard young cast members!
Invisible Child (1999)
Dreadful beyond words
Mind-boggling! What were they thinking?? "The Invisible Child" is even WORSE than it sounds! I can't believe I watched the whole thing. I *thought* that Victor Garber was a pretty good actor--but in my mind, he will always be "tainted" for having appeared in "The Invisible Child." I feel sorry for Rita Wilson, and if I never again see the child star who played the non-invisible daughter, it'll be too soon. This is not even in the "so-bad-it's-funny" category. Watch it, if you must--but you'll be sorry you did. This is one of the dopiest scripts to ever reach the (small) screen. The Lifetime channel shows a lot of junk, but "The Invisible Child" really takes the cake.
