The Bog Creatures (2003)
Reminds you of a high-school video project
Well, to spoil it all for you... the only nudity is in the first 15 seconds or so. And you see exactly what the bog "creatures" look like about 5 minutes later. There was no suspense, and I think it would be way out of line to call this a "horror" flick. Some good points... the acting was decent, and some parts were quite humorous. My favorite part was the ending... Get through all of it, and you'll know what I mean. Bottom line? Not completely terrible, but not really too watchable, either. 5/10 from me...
Swimming Pool - Der Tod feiert mit (2001)
Not worth your time, unless you like bad acting
This movie had me gagging about 10 minutes in, and it had nothing to do with gore. The acting was SO HORRIBLE by about 99% of the actors that I think I seriously could've done better. There was really no plot, but hey, if you like half naked people trying to act but failing miserably, this movie is definitely for you! ***SPOILERS***SPOILERS***SPOILERS*** Ok... seriously, I have done bench presses before. If you have a large enough amount of weight on the bar, and you can't lift it off your chest, chances are slim to none that you would all of a sudden be able to fling it off into an attacker's face... especially with only ONE arm. That chick must be pretty buff. Too bad she still died. Rating: 2/10 and that's being nice ;-)
Lost Voyage (2000)
Give it a chance...
I was kind of bored with this movie at the beginning. The acting by some of the characters isn't the best, to say the least. However, after about 30 minutes, things start to pick up. It wasn't a bad movie. The special effects, especially at the end, had me gripping my pillow without realizing it. ;-) Not many movies can garner that much suspense, but this was one of the more unique Bermuda triangle movies. Just wish it would've had a better plot... 6/10
National Lampoon's Vacation (1983)
Funniest movie ever!!!
This movie is completely hilarious!!! Great acting, nonstop laughs, and the best comedy I've ever seen... Chevy Chase is at his best! This movie reminds me of all the family vacations I've taken with my loved ones over the years. I've seen it about 15 times, and will watch it anytime! A definite must see... 10 out of 10
Brigham City (2001)
Was this "made for TV"??? Ok, but not great...
I didn't mind this movie too much... the only problem was that I was half asleep until there were about 20 minutes left, and things FINALLY started to get interesting. The acting is very well done, but I felt very un-informed throughout much of the movie. The characters have NO background, and there seem to be way too many loopholes in the plot. I think it could have been much more suspenseful if the director had tried a little harder. It almost felt as if I was watching "Murder, She wrote" (I'm a huge fan of that show, though.) I'm giving this one a 6/10, for just being, well, kinda boring... ;-)
Donnie Darko (2001)
What is with this movie???
Ok, I was really intrigued by this movie. I thought it was an interesting division between comedy, horror, and just plain drama. One of those movies where the ending keeps you talking about it for days to come. I was surprised by the acting... Jake Gyllenhaal did a superb job as Donnie Darko, and with back-ups like Noah Wyle and Drew Barrymore, the movie drew you in to the characters. I thought that it was a great idea for a horror- type theme, even though the director did not go that route. The bunny was the freakiest thing I have ever seen, and what made it worse was that it didn't DO anything... reminds me of the stuffed animals I used to be scared of when I was a kid, because, in the dark, they looked like monsters. A good film overall, but just slightly strange the way it flip flopped back and forth between happy and just plain scary... 6/10
The Others (2001)
Edge-of-your-seat suspense...
I LOVED this movie! It kept my attention the whole time, which is rare for movies nowadays. I loved Nicole Kidman's acting, and even the children were totally believable in their typical brother/sister relationship. This movie is superbly done, with a great setting. The movie is almost completely done in the dark, so this is one to watch at night, definitely... The twist at the ending was a total surprise. It was one that makes you want to watch the entire movie again (which I did) and tell all your friends about it (which I have). If you like ghost stories with twists and turns all the way through, this one's for you! Enjoy! 10/10
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989)
Funniest movie ever...
This movie kills me every time I see it. I always like to watch it after a hard day at work... doesn't really matter if it's Christmas time or not. Chevy Chase is great, as usual, playing Clark Griswold, the slightly dorky, clutsy father. If you love Chevy Chase and are just in the mood for tons of laughs, check out this movie. In fact, check out the rest of the National Lampoon movies too! :-) 10/10
Zoolander (2001)
Not the best, but funny at times
Ok, I guess my review can't stand for too much, but I did manage to get through about an hour before realizing there were better things I could be doing with my time... There are some really funny parts, but they're few and far between. The only cool thing was the fact that there were a whole bunch of cool people in the movie... Will Ferrell, Andy Dick, Owen Wilson... But seriously, don't watch this movie if you are a busy person, like myself. You will end up wondering why you didn't just go to sleep instead.
A Clockwork Orange (1971)
Lots of violence, humor, and sex....
If ya like that sort of thing, like nudity, violence, sex, then this movie will be quite enjoyable :-) I found it to be extremely funny in some parts, and very gruesome in others. I was told that it was a "weird" movie, and that was right on. This is not a movie for the faint of heart, and definitely one to NOT watch with your parents... or your boyfriend/girlfriend, for that matter. :-) One worth watching, though. Truly a flip from the norm... Rating: 9/10
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001)
Better than expected...
I wouldn't say this movie is totally crap. I'm not big on the whole "Jay and Silent Bob" thing, but there are some really funny parts to this movie. I loved Will Ferrell and James Van der Beek (like who doesn't???), who joined others, such as Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, in helping bring on the laughs. One word of advice: Don't try to drink anything while watching, it could be hazardous to those around you! Rating: 8/10
Soul Survivors (2001)
Call me stupid, but...
***SPOILERS*** ***SPOILERS*** Ok, to all of you who seem to think this movie "makes a whole bunch of sense," please fill me in. I like to think of myself as a partially intelligent person... That was, until I saw this movie.
I thought it may be good until about 30 minutes into it, when everything I thought was happening seemed to not be real anymore. I had so many questions, and no one who was watching it with me had any clue either what was going on.
Questions.... Is Cassie sure she's not the dead one, that everyone else survived but her??? Are people chasing her, or is she just a paranoid schizophrenic??? Is her boyfriend really there or is he dead??? And why in the hell does she wake up in bed with him at the end??????????? HELP!!! *Note to producers of this movie: Flashbacks are okay, unless there are flashbacks and flashbacks OF flashbacks.....of flashbacks.
To conclude, I was just happy the stupid thing was over. I had a headache from trying to understand how the directors (or anyone else, for that matter) managed to get this piece of crap movie approved at all by ANYONE. If anyone thinks this actually made sense, I think I need them to send me an outline or something... Rating: -infinity out of 10 (Believe me, that's even too high)
Breeders (1997)
This movie sucked.....
Just to let everyone know, this is possibly the WORST movie I have ever seen, and I've seen pretty much everything. If you're thinking of renting it, DON'T!!! It's not worth the cardboard container that it came in....
Office Space (1999)
One of my all-time favorites...
If you work, or have worked, in an office, you MUST see this. This movie personifies everything you could possibly hate about work... the demanding, uncaring boss(es), the fax machines, telephones, psycho co-workers, working on Saturdays, boring work... just even coming into work at all. I loved this movie. I'm only taking a point off for the bad musical selections... I would've chosen something with a bit more class myself. That said, check this movie out if you have been living in a hole in the ground and have missed seeing it. 9/10
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Definitely one to catch in the theater!!!
To sum it up quickly, I thought it was awesome! The costumes and makeup were great, and I loved the fact that there were so many good-looking guys in one movie. (Hooray!!!) The only reason I'm giving this a 9/10 is because I didn't understand why the dudes in the black riding the horses (I forgot their names) couldn't find Frodo and his friends, even when they were right in front of them. Possibly cuz they had no eyes? Dunno... anyway, I'm not a major fan of fantasy movies, but this one completely rocked! It could've been five hours and I still wouldn't have left my seat for anything!
Liar Liar (1997)
Funny from beginning to end....
I saw this movie when it first came out and my brother and I have been quoting from it ever since. If you like Jim Carrey, you will love it. He is hilarious- as a fun-loving dad, a jealous ex-husband, and as a lawyer. I thought the movie was very creative and never lacked energy. Great acting- even "Max" who was such a cutie!!! 9/10
