The Wrong Teacher (2018)
The title should be changed to "The Wrong Actors"
My girlfriend forced me to watch this with her. She now owes me - big time. Could be some of the worst acting ever, even by Lifetime's standards. I've seen better acting at my second grader's Christmas play. Whoever did the casting should "never work in this town again"...The ENTIRE cast was horrible. To think: these actors auditioned and (presumably) more than one person said, "Nailed it! You've got the part!" I've angrily scratched my head so much thinking about how that could have possibly happened that I made a hole in my skull and the pieces of my brain that got fried watching this garbage just fell on the floor.
Free Solo (2018)
Major marketing blunder & HUGE INSULT to Alex Honnold!!!!
Going to see this today, am very familiar with Alex Honnold, but a puzzling & troubling note: how does Alex NOT get top billing in a documentary about himself?? How insulting & condescending is that? Who the heck is Tommy Caldwell and who cares? Plainly & simply: no amazing, courageous, unique Alex = no documentary - again, Tommy who???
Steve Jobs (2015)
Horrible - don't let the high ratings fool you
If you want to see a film that goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about what a selfish, obsessed, self-absorbed jerk Steve Jobs was, then watch this film. Otherwise, don't bother. That point is made in the first five minutes. And the next five minutes. And the five minutes after that. And the five minutes after that. And all the way through to the final five minutes before the end of the film. No character arc whatsoever can be had. Nothing changes from "fade in" to "fade out". The one attempt to shift the arc at the end of the movie falls flat with ambiguity. Boring as hell. I have no idea why this film has such high viewer ratings and an above-average Metascore. The only reason I've given it two stars is because the cast gave a very decent performance.
