Last King of the Cross (2023)
Cultural Melting Pot in Action
This Australian TV series has taken the world by storm, and it's not hard to see why. The storyline is incredibly captivating and the characters are so well-developed that you can't help but become emotionally invested in their lives.
One of the standout aspects of the series is the portrayal of ethnic gangsters. It's a topic that's not often explored in mainstream media, but the show does an excellent job of shedding light on the issue while still maintaining a gripping and engaging narrative. The ultimate test of brotherhood that the gangsters face adds an extra layer of depth to the show and makes it all the more intriguing.
Tien and her gang are equally fascinating. Her tough and commanding presence on the screen is hard to ignore, and I found myself wanting to know more about her backstory and how she became the formidable leader that she is. The portrayal of Vietnamese gangsters is a welcome addition to the show and adds an extra layer of diversity to the cast of characters.
Overall, I can't wait to see where the show goes in season 2. I'm eagerly anticipating seeing more of Tien and her gang and how they will fit into the larger narrative. This Australian TV series is definitely one to watch, and I highly recommend giving it a chance.
Mr Inbetween (2018)
Standout in humour & violence!
"Mr Inbetween" is a darkly comedic and gritty crime drama series that follows the life of Ray Shoesmith, a hitman for hire who tries to balance his work life with his personal life. The show is created by Scott Ryan, who also stars as the main character, and it's clear that he brings a personal touch to the show with his intimate portrayal of the character.
What makes "Mr Inbetween" stand out is its unique blend of humor and violence. The show has a darkly comedic tone that makes the viewer laugh even in the midst of intense, violent scenes. The writing is sharp and witty, with clever dialogue that never feels forced or contrived.
Ryan's performance as Ray is nothing short of excellent. He brings a sense of authenticity and depth to the character that is both engaging and compelling. Ray is a complex character who is both likable and frightening, and Ryan manages to walk that line perfectly.
The supporting cast is equally strong, with standout performances from Damon Herriman as Ray's friend and fellow criminal, and Brooke Satchwell as Ray's love interest. The show also features some great guest stars, including Matt Nable and Mark Boone Junior.
Overall, "Mr Inbetween" is a gripping and well-crafted crime drama series that delivers on both laughs and thrills. The show is a must-watch for fans of the genre, and it's clear that Scott Ryan is a talent to watch in the future. I highly recommend giving this series a chance.
John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)
Hella of high octane watch!
I absolutely loved this movie. While Keanu's acting didn't stand out to me, the action sequences from all the other characters were absolutely superb and thrilling to watch. The Asian fighter character was especially cool, and while her acting wasn't my favorite, her action movements were incredible.
I have to say, the choreography and execution of the fights in this movie were some of the best I've seen. The attention to detail and dedication to creating realistic, thrilling fight scenes really shone through.
Overall, I had an amazing time watching this movie and was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. If you're a fan of action movies, I highly recommend giving this one a watch!
