Lost: Numbers (2005)
Season 1, Episode 18
10/10
Classic Episode Acquiring Most Unique Storyline!
19 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
In the "Numbers" episode of Lost, which is part of Season 1, the storyline revolves around the mysterious numbers, 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42. Hurley, a lottery winner who believes the numbers are cursed, experiences a series of unfortunate events on the island. As he tries to find a rational explanation, Hurley's backstory is revealed, showing the tragic consequences associated with the numbers. Meanwhile, Hurley's obsession leads him to discover that another survivor, Leonard Simms, had been haunted by the same numbers before his death. As the episode unfolds, the island's inhabitants confront the notion of fate versus coincidence, blurring the lines between reality and superstition, setting the stage for further mysteries yet to be unraveled.

In the episode, it is revealed that the numbers, 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42, have a mysterious and seemingly cursed nature. Hurley, who won a lottery using these numbers, believes they bring bad luck. As the story progresses, it is shown that the numbers repeatedly appear in Hurley's life, causing tragic events and misfortune.

The curse associated with the numbers is further explored through Leonard Simms, a fellow survivor on the island. Leonard, like Hurley, was haunted by the numbers and eventually went mad. Hurley discovers Leonard's story and realizes that the numbers have a detrimental effect on those who encounter them.

The episode leaves the nature of the curse ambiguous, blending elements of fate, superstition, and the unexplainable, setting the stage for ongoing mysteries and questions throughout the series.

Outer Banks: The Bonfire (2021)
Season 2, Episode 7
5/10
Meh..
20 May 2023
In "Outer Banks" season 2, episode 7, titled "The Bonfire," I felt a sense of disappointment, especially considering the potential I saw in the show through the preceding episodes. The episode's storyline failed to meet my expectations, leaving me wanting more, but not for good reasons. While the series had been building up excitement and tension, this particular episode felt lackluster in comparison. The pacing seemed off, and the plot developments felt forced and less impactful. I understand that not every episode can be perfect, and "Outer Banks" has had its share of compelling moments, but "The Bonfire" fell short of what I had hoped for. Nonetheless, I remain hopeful for future episodes to regain the show's momentum and captivate me once again.

Renfield (2023)
8/10
Gruesome...
15 May 2023
"Renfield" surprised me with its unique take on the classic character from Bram Stoker's "Dracula." The film explores the dark and twisted mind of Renfield, delving deep into his psychological journey and descent into madness. The portrayal of Renfield, brilliantly brought to life by the talented cast, was unsettling and captivating. The movie skillfully blended horror, psychological thriller, and character study, offering a fresh perspective on a familiar tale. The unexpected twists and turns kept me engaged throughout, and the atmospheric cinematography added to the eerie ambiance. "Renfield" defied my expectations and left a lasting impression with Nicolas Cage's haunting portrayal of a complex and tormented character.

Attack on Titan: Beast Titan (2017)
Season 2, Episode 1

Season 2, the destruction of a decent Anime....
15 May 2023
In the second season of "Attack on Titan," the introduction of the Beast Titan was meant to be a pivotal moment, but it failed to capture my attention as much as the first season. The Beast Titan, a mysterious and powerful humanoid creature with the ability to control Titans, is certainly an intriguing addition to the story, but for me, it lacked the impact and sense of urgency that made the first season so captivating. While some fans may appreciate the Beast Titan's presence and the deeper mysteries it brings to the story, it simply did not resonate with me in the same way.

The Mother (2023)
8/10
"The Mother" (2023) is Great!
15 May 2023
"The Mother" is a film that is often overlooked, but it showcases Jennifer Lopez's strong acting abilities. The movie follows a mother who struggles to make ends meet and provide for her family, basically her daughter, while dealing with the lost ability to see her in the first place due to it being too dangerous. Lopez's performance as a badass and yet grieving mother is both raw and emotional, conveying the character's pain and desperation with authenticity. The film delves into themes of poverty, grief, and the lengths a mother will go to protect her family. Despite its powerful message and strong performances, "The Mother" did not receive the recognition it deserved. Very well paced action throughout this film that had our family as a whole on edge. It is a truly underrated gem in Lopez's filmography.

General Enjoyability: 8/10

"The Shawshank Redemption"
2 May 2023
"The Shawshank Redemption" is a 1994 American drama film directed by Frank Darabont. It tells the story of Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), a banker who is sentenced to life in Shawshank State Penitentiary for the murder of his wife and her lover. In prison, he befriends fellow inmate Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding (Morgan Freeman) and uses his financial knowledge to assist the corrupt warden. The movie is widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made due to its exceptional direction, outstanding characters, and storytelling. Fear the Walking Dead: What's Your Story? (2018)
Season 4, Episode 1

Fear Becomes a Terrible Disaster After This Episode...
2 May 2023
In Fear the Walking Dead season 4 episode 1, a mysterious woman named Naomi meets John Dorie and they form a bond while scavenging for supplies. Meanwhile, Morgan Jones arrives in Texas and meets a group of survivors. The episode sets up a crossover with The Walking Dead. However, after the episode, the show begins to create inconsistent writing, uninteresting new characters, and lack of direction. The departure of main cast members contributed to the decline in quality, and the show became too similar to The Walking Dead, but in a terrible way.

Fear the Walking Dead made several mistakes in its attempt to keep up with The Walking Dead's writing, which ultimately led to a decline in the show's quality and popularity. In summary, by trying to emulate The Walking Dead's success, Fear the Walking Dead lost its potential and uniqueness, resulting in a decline in quality and ultimately, cancellation.

The Walking Dead is on another level than Fear the Walking Dead because it stuck to its originality and did not make drastic changes, resulting in a more consistent and successful show. The Walking Dead being my favourite show of all-time succeeded for 11 seasons, while Fear failed within its 4th season.

Bloody Hell!
29 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
While the third episode of The Boys is widely considered to be the show's first spectacular episode, it is perhaps best known for one particular scene: the gruesome obliteration of a giant whale. This shocking moment perfectly encapsulates the show's irreverent, subversive approach to the superhero genre. However, the episode offers much more than just shock value. It expertly weaves together multiple storylines, introduces new characters, and builds tension and intrigue around the corruption and secrets within The Seven. The result is a truly unique and unforgettable viewing experience that sets the tone for the rest of the series.

Season 2 is the best part of "The Boys" it never pulls punches! Stormfront, a character introduced in the second season of The Boys, is portrayed as an insanely dangerous and powerful superhero who is aligned with the nefarious Vought International corporation. In the episode "Over the Hill with the Swords of a Thousand Men," we see Stormfront demonstrate her formidable abilities and reveal her true agenda by mutilating Kimiko's brother before killing him completely.

Left Behind (I) (2014)

Deep. Dark. Dreadful, Movie.
29 April 2023
"Left Behind" follows a group of people who are left behind after the rapture, an event in which millions of people suddenly vanish from the Earth. As chaos and confusion ensue, the remaining characters must navigate their way through a world turned upside down.

What sets this movie apart is its well-written script, which expertly balances action, suspense, and drama. The characters are well-drawn and their motivations are clear, which adds depth and nuance to the story. The film also features standout performances from its cast, particularly Nicolas Cage as the lead character, Rayford Steele.

Overall, Left Behind is a shocking and thought-provoking film that explores complex themes such as faith, morality, and the human condition. Its well-written script and strong performances make it a standout movie that is sure to leave a lasting impression on viewers and especially myself.

Yellowstone: Daybreak (2018)
Season 1, Episode 1
3/10
Bad Start...
29 April 2023
The premiere episode of Yellowstone, a television drama about a powerful Montana ranching family, has received mixed reviews from viewers and critics. While some praised the show's gritty atmosphere and strong performances, I found the pacing and character development lacking.

The episode introduces the Dutton family, who own the largest contiguous ranch in the United States and are facing threats from land developers and other rival groups. While the show promises to explore complex themes such as family loyalty, political corruption, and the clash between rural and urban America, the premiere episode fails to deliver on these promises. The pacing feels slow and disjointed, and the characters are not given enough time to develop or establish their motivations.

Overall, the premiere episode of Yellowstone was a disappointment for myself as a viewer and earns a 3/10 rating due to its lacking pacing and development. However, some fans of the show have noted that it picks up steam in subsequent episodes and becomes more engaging as the season progresses.

Rick and Morty: Pickle Rick (2017)
Season 3, Episode 3
9/10
The last "Great" episode of "Rick and Morty"
29 April 2023
"Pickle Rick" is a highly acclaimed episode of the animated series "Rick and Morty" and is widely regarded as a turning point for the show. The episode centers around Rick turning himself into a pickle to avoid family therapy, only to find himself in a series of dangerous situations that require his pickle form to navigate.

What sets this episode apart is its clever use of humor, action, and storytelling to explore complex themes such as family dynamics, addiction, and mental health. The episode also features standout performances by the voice actors, particularly Justin Roiland as both Rick and the pickle version of him.

"Pickle Rick" in my opinion is the final great episode of the series because it marked a shift towards more self-contained and experimental storytelling, as well as a focus on character development. It also showcased the show's ability to seamlessly blend humor and dark subject matter, which has become a hallmark of the series. Overall, "Pickle Rick" is a standout episode that solidified "Rick and Morty" as one of the most innovative and thought-provoking animated series of its time.

Best Episode of Season 4!
29 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"The Weight" is widely regarded as one of the best episodes of "The Sopranos" due to its masterful storytelling and its exploration of the characters' inner conflicts. The episode focuses on the aftermath of the death of Ralph Cifaretto, a character who was widely disliked by both the other characters and the audience. Through a series of flashbacks and conversations, the episode delves into the complex relationships between the characters and their conflicting emotions towards Ralph's death. The episode also features standout performances by the cast, particularly by Edie Falco and Dominic Chianese. Overall, "The Weight" is a powerful and emotionally resonant episode that showcases the show's ability to tackle complex themes with nuance and depth.

Season 4 was rather disappointing due to the fact that this episode remained as the only one scoring higher then a 8/10. Thank god season 5&6 come back stronger.

The Last of Us: Look for the Light (2023)
Season 1, Episode 9

Decent Finish to a Fantastic Season!
29 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The Last of Us Episode 9, "Look for the Light," has been described as a powerful and haunting finale, with moments that are soul-crushing and thought-provoking. However, I have noted that the episode lacks intensity and emotion, feeling oddly paced and truncated. The episode's climax, which sees Joel commit a morally questionable act, has been praised for its devastating power, but also criticized for its ludonarrative dissonance. Despite these criticisms, the episode has been hailed as the best video game adaptation ever made.

The Episode was semi-lackluster and lacked intensity, failing to capture my attention unlike all the other episodes. Although it wasn't close to terrible, the episode wasn't great either.

The Last of Us Season 1 follows Joel, a smuggler, and Ellie, an immune teenager, as they travel across a post-apocalyptic United States. The story is about their journey to a militant group of Fireflies, who may have the key to a cure. The season finale sees Joel and Ellie finally meet back up with the Fireflies, and the story ends on an interesting cliffhanger that sets the stage for a falling out between the two protagonists.
