National Treasure: Edge of History (2022)
Enjoyable. Moves quick. Some bad puzzles though.
A couple of the puzzles the main actress solved were just too random, and not really solvable, in my opinion. That being said, I've enjoyed the show and the characters. It moves quickly, has a similar feel to the movies, and I like the feel of the main actress, her drive, and reasons for pushing onward. I like the storyline as well -- a group of women saving history from destruction by working across cultures (how intriguing and refreshing). Funny, read a review that was almost exact opposite. Odd. But that is life. Wish they'd spent a bit more time on the puzzle parts, not relying on the characters intelligence as an out. She is smart. But the clues still have to be better laid out. Of course, felt the same way a couple times in the movies as well, so there you go. Enjoy it.
Chefs vs Wild (2022)
Enjoyable cooking show with a tiny bit of survival thrown in.
Enjoy watching the differing characters of the chefs and survivalists and their trek through the wilderness. Interesting introduction to foraging. Beautiful landscape. Would like to go there. Kind of fun to root for the less asinine chef -- of course this is by design. One could argue this is a waste of resources, using the helicopter to fly in contestants and filming crew to the heart of a jungle, but that is true about many things. Definitely not a "woke" show as one review put it, as there is nothing woke about wasting resources for entertainment. I kind of view this show as in the same category as a zoo, introducing folks to a bit of nature, without the reality of death, decay, and disease. Still fun.
4400 (2021)
Watched 2 episodes so far.
I've enjoyed it enough to keep watching to see what happens. Acting is decent, though the government response is rather Trumpian, based entirely in fear and control. This seems to be creating a dynamic where certain forces of the 4400 are starting to manipulate them towards their own "epic" storyline --> "We have a divine purpose ... " kind of thing, which we humans will unfortunately harm others for our beliefs.
Cinderella (2021)
Enjoyable, though auto-tuned at times, which I didn't like.
There appears to be some misinterpretation of some of the messages in this movie. Here is my take.
It encourages young people to work towards becoming their best version of themselves. Only then can you take on true responsibilities. The prince's sister was clearly the better leader, her mind working on ideas to make life better. The prince still needs time to grow, and figure out his role in life. Sure, he could become a bad king, but why would we want that, just because it was his "responsibility" rather than his nature, such as his sisters.
There was no reason to put a label on their relationship at the end of the movie. These two have known each other way to short a time to be getting married, taking on the responsibility of such a relationship. I dare say, even travelling the world together is probably too soon. Any parent, conservative or liberal, would cringe at such a decision.
Anyway, enjoyable, but not a more than once type of film.
The Irregulars (2021)
Enjoyed the show. Wanted more.
I did not interpret this show to be a Victorian anthology, or Sherlock Holmes meets Supernatural. I viewed it as a group of young people supporting one another, overcoming past obstacles, and joining together to overcome problems not just for them, but for those around them. I enjoyed the characters.
Kung Fu (2021)
Kung fu -- a coming of age story
This is not the kung fu we grew up with. For one, this is a young persons coming of age story. It is also the story of an asian family dealing with the difficulties of life. Our heroine has just begun her journey into the spiritual. Her sifu has been murdered, and she has not dealt with her past. Now, she must balance her life, between family, past, and legacy, and do some growing along the way. And yes, it is possible to learn quite a bit of kung fu in 3 years when you are immersed, as she was. This is a different show than the original. And that is not a bad thing. Just different. Enjoy it.
Captain Marvel (2019)
Disappointed.
It seemed more like a video game rendition of a movie, than an actual movie. The lead actress wasn't given much to do. I liked the scene, immensely, of her being "only Human" when she was shown getting up and going again after a setback. I liked the concepts of the film. It just didn't work as well as it could. It may be the actress, but probably not. She was left with little more to do than look stoic and confused most of the time. Kind of like the Zoolander face. I must perfect this look. Ah well.
Charmed (2018)
Love this show.
I enjoy the occasional snip at current politics. I like that the CW is not afraid to take a stand. I also enjoy all the characters. Much better than the old charmed. Apparently others disagree. Oh well. I'll keep on enjoying.

There's Always Woodstock (2014)
Good music. Plot is what one would expect from title.
I enjoyed the young actress in the lead role. Felt connected with her, and wanted to watch her grow. What else can I say. I always wonder why some responded so negatively. oh well.
The Revenant (2015)
Depressing
Comes across as utterly depressing in its depiction of the negative side of human nature. If you want to be depressed, this movie is for you. Visuals are too graphic. Effects the viscera of the soul. Not much more to say. Would not watch again. That being said, the acting was good. Now, need a movie about people joining together to heal this kind of crap. I would say that the need for 10 lines of text is at times, not worth the effort. A review can be short, and express the opinion quite well. At this point, I am no longer reviewing this movie, but this review system. If I choose to write a review that is short, please respect that wish.
No se aceptan devoluciones (2013)
Excellent movie
It managed to touch me, make me cry, laugh, and leave feeling good despite a sad ending. The movie manages to keep you thinking the lead character is just a lovable goof, when in reality, something else entirely is going on. That was well done, and despite what a few reviews suggest, was excellent acting (played the part he was asked to with perfection).
I would watch this film again just for pleasure. I can't say that of every good movie I have seen. That is all that is important to me. Quirky. Fun. Sad. Only a few smaller roles that weren't acted as well as they could have been. A wonderful little actress. Great funny faces. Nicely directed.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992)
Campy 80's film
If you judge this film on what it is, an intentionally cheesy, campy, witty indictment of the 80's, then it is worthy of a 9. The best of it's genre, I believe, though not many films fit into its genre, so perhaps that's not saying much. Regardless, good for some nice laughs, entertaining, and I love Rutger and Sutherland playing it all serious like when everyone else is laughing it up -- though Sutherland did get to let go some smiles himself. It is campy. It is fun. And it built an idea for a heroine that spawned a very successful TV show. What more could one want? Oh yeah, and friends floating six feet off the ground wanting to come in, lot's of passing out, and one freakin hilarious death scene by pee wee.
