Too Old to Die Young (2019)
It didn't end
I love his work, apart from Only God Forgives, but it didn' end. What the hell?
Sam (2017)
Weird
What a weird movie. The cinematography and editing are terrible. It is a lot of fun, though, and the leading lady and the best friend are very good actors, and you can tell the lady is having a lot of fun. Weird movie that goes in a weird direction.
House of Demons (2018)
Edited by a Blender
Most of the cast is trying, especially Whitney Moore, and there are a few interesting shots here and there. Some decent lighting. The story could have made more sense and the ending could not have been completely tacked on and removed from everything that came before.
That said, the editing is what kills this movie flat out. It's a completely disjointed mess that is jumping between something like ten ongoing plots at once. My friend and I gave up trying to count how many there were. He gave up on the film completely about thirty minutes in. Basically avoid this one.
Final Flesh (2009)
Masterpiece
Why has no one reviewed this yet? If you love Wonder Showzen and read about how this was made you will love this film.
The originator of this film apparently sent out four scripts to four different companies that make custom fetish porn (that's a thing, I guess) and made the scripts as nonsensical and non-sequitur filled as possible. The actors and the directors were not aware this was hilarious. They got paid. It is hilarious, but only if you're in on the joke.
I honestly had to pause the movie several times because I was laughing so hard it hurt. It is difficult to believe that the people you are watching would even attempt to take the material seriously.
The movie is divided into four parts and the third is definitely the one section that drags the most. The last part, part four, is indisputably the greatest, and you will know why it was saved for the finale very quickly.
This may be the funniest film ever made. Actors paid to create anyone's deepest fantasy unconsciously becoming pawns in this one madman's insidious scheme to make a movie. Brilliant.
Humans vs Zombies (2011)
Fun zombie film
I caught the world premiere of this film at Splatterfest last night in Houston, and was really surprised by how good it looked. The direction, editing, lighting, and quality overall is really amazing considering this is another low budget horror title. The acting is mostly good, save for some predictably cheesy moments. I have to say Chip Joslin gave Nick Frost a run for his money as the funniest fat guy in a zombie film. There are a few moments when the sound was an issue. Without giving too much away, one actress is speaking to the group in a tunnel and the audience simply couldn't hear a word. However I'm sure these problems will be fixed by the time it goes to DVD and, from what I heard last night, TV on the Chiller channel. Anyway, if you enjoy zombie films (or expertly crafted low-budget films) then this is one you're not gonna want to miss. -Brock
