Scam 2003 - The Telgi Story (2023)
Entertaning but not satisfying
We can all agree that it is hard to top something like Scam 1992, but this show unfortunately does not meet those standards.
Don't get me wrong, I was quite entertained throughout and was keen to watch the next episode by the end of each one, but there was a different feeling when watching 1992.
The show starts well, with a story that is quite simple to follow, not very technically, but it becomes just political by some point.
1992 was able to balance the scam, politics, and media well together, but this felt off, and the filmy dialogues in this series just remind you of Bhushan Bhatt, tbh.
I don't feel like we see the lavish aspect of the main character when he gets success, unlike Harshad, who got a very expensive high-rise. Nor do I feel the downfall; it just feels meh.
The timeline is kind of all over the place, jumping years just like that didn't really work.
The characters get you thinking who is who, and I'm not convinced by their relationships, unlike 1992, where we can see actual chemistry.
But we can agree that they don't really show much about the scam; they just focus on politics, which isn't that interesting at some point.
See, it was entertaining to watch the show, no doubt, but it doesn't stick with you. Rewatchability is low, unlike 1992, where there isn't much memorable in terms of dialogues.
The environemnt, doesnt really do justice - i forget where i am in the show in terms of location because they dont really give time to showcase the scenery or landmarks.
Sure the scam amount is very large but it doesnt feel "big" enough. 500 cores feels much bigger than it is.
For those who watched 1992, I still recommend you watch this, but you won't get the same satisfaction.
Jawan (2023)
Kichadi without pressure cooker
Om Shanti Om + Fan + Dhoom + Main Hoon Na + Chak De! India
If you combine elements from each of those movies, with social causes, you will be presented with the movie Jawwan.
Started off well, keeping the audience engaged, but the more i watched the movie, my iq kept dropping.
There are just too many subplots to keep track off, and directors think having long action sequences with loud music in the background is what makes a movie a hit.
Personally, none of the side characters performed any well, you just went to see the movie for SRK.
I think the hype and love for the actor has caused people to just be overexcited by his screen precess, and they will write and applaud the movie like it's one of the best things they have watched.
I left without watching the ending, but the film after intermission is just mind-numbing. Furthermore, I would rather watch any old Hindi movie that has must better emotions, acting and story line.
Rocky prem kahani is a much better watch, despite being pretty bad itself.
Also, the movie has too many dark themes, which is not advisable to watch for a "pg13" movie.
SRK will continue to present such boring films because he has mastered this formula for a hit movie:
Loyal fan base + add south elements to the movie + action sequences which we have seen a million times and release the movie in 8 different languages to really collect that box office numbers.
I personally think Raees was srk's last good movie and one should skip this, honestly.
Rather watch Billu barber if one wants to enjoy SRK screen presence.
Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga (2023)
I was gonna stop after 30 mins and i should have
You probably saw the hype and great reviews which made you decide to click on the movie on a Friday evening after work.
I have several issues with this movie, the first being what's up with the flight attendants wearing such short skirts? I mean the costume design folks must've seen a real life example right?
The first 30 mins of the movie made me cringe so badly that I started to reevaluate my lifestyle choices. The cringe romantic dialogues should not have been included in the first place, yet we have them. It's 2023 ppl, make better dialogues!
The rest of the film included me pressing the fast-forward button because it doesn't really forward the plot in any way.
The logical in the film seems to have been left behind at the baggage area and didn't it make it to the plane.
The main hero should definitely take up some acting lessons, as it would be for his own good.
I will admit I enjoyed the plot twice, but that is no excuse why I had to bear the whole movie just for that.
The VFX is quite nice and that's my take.
I feel like if they started slow and brought the pace up it would've been much better instead of starting at a fast pace (lure the audience in) then flashback into something slow then back again at the fast pace etc.
If you want to watch this movie, pls leave the logic out the door and bear the cringe dialogues.
If you have seen the movie, I'm sure you understand what I am talking about.
An Action Hero (2022)
Don't believe the hype
Um, we already have seen these types of movies multiple times.
The plot itself if mediocre at best, and the best part for me was the cameo of Akshay.
The action scenes were great, but we have already seen hundreds of time, so I found myself fast-forwarding the movie too many times.
None of the characters had real dept to them, it felt like they were just reading the script and that was it.
I fail to understand the hype and great reviews for this film, I'm sure any 90s action movie would have done a much better job.
Just because most shooting takes place internationally, doesn't mean the movie is going to do good.
Some humours scenes, that's it.
HIT: The First Case (2022)
Saw the great reviews on IMBD, but personally it was okay at best
"HIT: The First Case" is a disappointing crime thriller that fails to deliver on its promise of providing a gripping and engaging storyline. The movie follows a police officer investigating a missing person's case, but the plot is convoluted and lacks coherence.
The acting is mediocre at best, with the lead actor Vishwak Sen delivering a lackluster performance that fails to elicit any real emotion or investment from the audience. The supporting cast is forgettable, with most of the characters being one-dimensional and lacking depth.
The cinematography is uninspired and fails to add any real value to the movie. The soundtrack is forgettable and does nothing to enhance the viewing experience.
The pacing is slow and sluggish, with the movie dragging on for far too long. The climax is underwhelming and fails to provide a satisfying resolution to the story.
Overall, "HIT: The First Case" is a forgettable movie that fails to deliver on its promise of providing an engaging crime thriller.
The lack of creativity and effort put into the movie is evident in every aspect of the production and the ending wasn't the best.
Phas Gaye Re Obama (2010)
Went in with big expectations, let down for sure
"Phas Gaye Re Obama" is a poorly made movie that attempts to be a satire on the kidnapping industry in India. However, the execution is sloppy and the humor falls flat. The plot is convoluted and hard to follow, with too many subplots that add nothing to the story.
The characters are one-dimensional and lack depth, making it difficult to care about their fate. The acting is mediocre at best, with most of the cast delivering wooden performances. The dialogue is uninspired and fails to elicit any real emotion from the audience.
The cinematography is bland and unremarkable, with no memorable shots or visual effects. The soundtrack is forgettable and does nothing to enhance the viewing experience.
Overall, "Phas Gaye Re Obama" is a forgettable film that fails to deliver on its promise of being a satire. The lack of creativity and effort put into the production is evident in every aspect of the movie.
I only decided to watch it after reading many positive comments about the movie but it just didn't work for me. Also for those saying its comedy, there was only one part of the film that I and a good laugh, that's it.
Farzi (2023)
It was good, that's it
I personally think shaid performance wasn't the best in this series just because I see him on screen, not the character he is trying to play.
Also, the story literally picks up from the first ep and I don't know why there was such a rush to do so. It feels forced at times and I think they could have done things much slower and gotten rid of unnecessary chase scenes.
I did enjoy the show as it was something new but I probably won't be watching season 2.
The acting by the rest of the cast was mediocre at best. I personally wasn't convinced anyone of them was playing a character.
I've seen shows on Netflix that no one has seen that have 10 times better acting than these guys.
The story wise it was good, with plenty of loopholes (watch it with an open mind) but I think the acting was a big issue for me not so much the plot of the show.
I Think I Love My Wife (2007)
If you're watching in 2023, you will have a great time!
Honestly, saw small clips of it on TikTok and found them hilarious so decided to give the movie a try - since I had nothing better to do on a Friday evening.
Overall movie is great, Chris rock absolutely nails his role, the plot is very easy and simple to follow - it's entertaining that wants to keep you engaged.
The plot does slow down by the end but you won't be bothered since the comedy is absolutely hilarious which surprisingly still holds up till today since it was done in 2009.
Definitely watch this alone in my opinion (not with the fam) and you will have a great time
I've got 38 words left for this review so.
