Wish (2023)
When you wish upon a star...
When you wish upon a star... is the signature song of the Walt Disney company, the basis of the movie "Wish", which appropriately marks the 100th anniversary of Disney Animation!
I appreciated the deep, inner Spiritual meaning of some scenes which made me teary. Beautiful! I love this movie! Highly recommended! For me, it is worth watching more than once!
Note: There are extras during the end credits of Wish. At the very end of the credits, there is an additional scene.
In addition, here in the Philippines, it is a pleasant surprise to see the Tagalog version of the theme song of Wish, entitled "Aking Hiling", sung by Zephanie, shown before the movie started. As a bonus, here are the lyrics of the original song:
When a star is born
They possess a gift or two
One of them is this
They have the power to make a wish come true
When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires will come to you
If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do
Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
The sweet fulfillment of their secret longing
Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true.
Voltes V: Legacy: Deadly Consequence (2023)
Learned what Boazanian word "Homsak" means.
At long last, I finally learned, in this episode 57, what the Boazanian word "Homsak" really or actually mean. :)
I have heard that word several times in various episodes, often spoken by Prince Zardoz and his generals when they comment about General Zuhl as "Homsak".
It simply means in Tagalog "ugok". :)
This was verified by Zuhl himself when he asked Mark what "ugok" mean. Mark explained that it means "bobo", and it also means "idiot, stupid" (in English). :)
I have 3 questions to the other viewers and hopefully will know your answers:
1) What are the other Boazanian words have you heard?
2) What episode(s) were those words spoken?
3) What do you think those words mean?
Voltes V: Legacy - The Cinematic Experience (2023)
a longer review than what I wrote in clickthecity
10/10 stars!
Super loved this when it was anime in 1978.
This live action adaptation is great too!
I was teary eyed when its theme song played at the first time the volt in button was pushed.
And cried when a beloved character died (good that I watched it without a companion).
To show their appreciation, the audience applauded when the movie ended.
I heard this movie was made from the portions of the first 3 weeks of episodes (15 episodes) of the incoming new tv series which starts May 8, 2023.
Tip: do watch it till the very end of the credits to see the teaser of its continuation in the tv series (too bad, I had no idea, I already left by that time). :)
Shichinin no samurai (1954)
"Seven Samurai" is one of my Top 5 Feel Good Movies!
"Seven Samurai" is one of my Top 5 Feel Good Movies! It took me a long time deciding to trim my choices to only 5 Top Feel Good Movies among over 100 movies I have seen, because there are many movies that made me feel good. "Seven Samurai" is one of those Five. I watched "Seven Samurai" twice. The first time I watched it, I told the man beside me that its my first time to watch it. I asked him if he had seen it. He said, "Yes, ten times!" I asked, "where?" He replied, "in Japan"!
If you liked "Sanjuro" very much, you'll also like "Seven Samurai". If there will be another screening in the future, I would love to watch Sanjuro & Seven Samurai again and invite my friends who haven't seen those (and even those who have). Its that good even though its black & white and you have to read the English words at the screen's bottom center.
I watched 6 of the 21 Akira Kurasawa films shown for FREE in the last 2 weeks of September 2010 in 2 theaters. I rated Seven Samurai=10, Sanjuro=10, Rashomon=8, Yojimbo=8, Ikiru=8 and Throne of Blood=8.
Bonus on "Sanjuro": Sanjuro is the sequel of Yojimbo. It is rare that a sequel is better, and for me, Sanjuro is better than Yojimbo! If I had known Sanjuro is very good, I should have watched it twice instead of just on the last screening.
Tsubaki Sanjûrô (1962)
If you liked "Seven Samurai" very much, you'll also like Sanjuro!

Sex and the City (2008)
Three reasons why I watched it despite the low weighted average rating
I don't want to waste time watching unsatisfactory films, even if its for free, so I consulted IMDb.
This movie has a very low weighted average of 5.4 which means many were not satisfied with it. That is a signal that I should not watch, but there are inconsistencies which made me watch it on May 13, 2010 which is the last day of the showing of "Sex and the City" in a cinema here that shows "not so old movies" for only one week at a price of only around 11% the ticket price of a new movie. This movie was a new movie on June, 2008.
Three reasons why I watched it despite the low weighted average rating:
#1) It had a high US Gross box office sales of $152,647,258 (and worldwide gross of $415,252,786) which means many watched it. Maybe some who watched it recommended it to others or several people watched it more than once or some were forced to watch it with a fan.
#2) "10" had the highest number of votes, among the 10 possible vote choices.
8,255 18.9% for "10" votes
3,175 7.3% 9
4,802 11.0% 8
5,644 12.9% 7
4,788 11.0% 6
3,617 8.3% 5
2,146 4.9% 4
1,734 4.0% 3
1,659 3.8% 2
7,877 18.0% 1
#3) I read the comments of those who voted "10". Most were written by fans, but I found 2 (there might be more but I'm already convinced with those 2) who were not able to watch the TV series (like me) and yet liked the movie very much so they rated it 10.
Here is My 100% Honest Recommendation:
Please watch it. You'll probably like it like me and its not a waste of time. As a bonus, you'll also learn a little something worthwhile. I rate it a 9 but rated it 10 here in IMDb so people who read only comments of those who vote "10" can also read it.
