Breaking Bad (2008)
I have high standards
I binged breaking bad, worst mistake of my life, never binge a good show! Especially not breaking bad, binge it when rewatching, same experience. You can binge something multiple times, but you can only experience the show once. Anyways, on to the review.
What hasn't been said about breaking bad? It's an absolute masterpiece that pretty much everyone has watched. It starts off with an insignificant highschool chemistry teacher and ends with a ruthless drug lord (hopefully not spoiling too much here). But this is not only the story of a broken man, what many (I think many people anyway) fail to acknowledge is the team that worked on breaking bad, the progression of the writing. The first season is a pretty good crime drama about a chemistry teacher breaking bad, nothing special. However, when you get to the last season, every goddamn frame is a breathtaking painting.
If you're putting off watching this: I'm not going to urge you to watch it. Take your time, but still do watch it obviously.
Breaking bad is what art is meant to be, a birth and a death. It was made with passion, not an endless money grab like the sitcom. I know it's been said over and over, but death is what makes birth meaningful and beautiful. Season 1 was good, but you need to watch the finale to fully appreciate the beginning. Breaking bad is the story of a man, but do not mistake it for a tragedy. It is simply the legacy of a prideful man. We all want our stories heard, we all want to live on in others, we are all desperately human. I simply ask you to keep the story of breaking bad going, watch the show and be grateful for Vince Gillian's creativity.
The Boys (2019)
pretty damn solid
This show is damn solid, sure isn't no masterpiece, but I'm sure you'll enjoy watching. The heroes are absolutely terrifying and sadistic, even the "good" ones. Each and every character has been given so much care and depth it's incredible. The good guys aren't entirely good, the bad guys aren't entirely bad. Well, I mean they're still pretty damn diabolical, but still somewhat human at their core, weirdly. Sure this may seem obvious for good storytelling, but you'll be surprised how hard this is to do well. I mean they made a crazy murderous bitch into one of the "good" guys (kimiko). Plus the show just keeps getting better and better, especially the ending of the 2nd season. And I have no idea why anyone is comparing "invincible" to this show. Invincible relies on gore, this show's gore is the cherry on top. Also, go drink a Fresca!
Realism 8.7/10
Story 8.5/10
Acting 9/10
Societal commentary 7/10
Overall 9/10
It's really amazing how normal ordinary people can fight against a literal god that can shoot death lasers out of his eyes.
The Cuphead Show! (2022)
uninspired
I was incredibly disappointed watching this, the game has many adult themes, but this is completely aimed towards children. It's not even a particularly good children's show either, spongebob is way better. Sure the art style is utterly immaculate, but children don't know that! In my opinion, this is just wasted potential, it could have been a masterpiece. An amazing storyline alongside an amazing art style... sigh, it's just an episodic series that really have no overarching plot. I got bored and stopped watching halfway through, but I'm pretty sure there isn't some sudden good writing out of nowhere. I mean, they could of still made the episodic style work obviously, but I still think it's very limiting.
