Unicorn Store (2017)
Amazing Film
Brie Larson was amazing, Samuel Jackson was fantastic, and the film was a lot of fun. Everybody knew she was a fantastic actress, but she's a terrific director too. And Kit's house was such a perfect setting -- it was like the house was another character in the film. Rush to your local ... um ... couch and watch this on Netflix!
Pixels (2015)
Fun for kids age 9, 15, and 51
I have a 9 year old daughter and a 15 year old son, and it's always difficult finding movies that I can take both of them to. My son, like most young teenage boys, likes the action thrillers. My daughter likes anything cartoony and cute. They both LOVED this movie! There was some humor that seemed aimed right at the 9 year old (...that the 15 year old didn't find funny), and there was other humor that seemed aimed right at the 15 year old (...that the 9 year old didn't understand). The violence was mild enough that it did not frighten my daughter at all. This old 51-year old even got a few grins out of it. Although it's no masterpiece, it's a fun summer movie that everyone in the family can enjoy. Nothing stupendously original, but a very pleasant way to spend a summer afternoon with the kids.

If Kids Wrote Reviews, This'd Be Rated Higher
I saw this movie with my 2 kids -- ages 3 and 9. Although I can't say I cared for it much, they LOVED it. I've never seen my daughter (the 3 year old) laugh so much or sit so still at a movie.
As a grumpy adult, I couldn't ignore the irrational plot line. My kids could care less, and they adored the clever funny dialogue and the silly slapstick comedy.
I'd strongly recommend that adults stay away. I'd also strongly recommend that anyone with kids go see it.
My rating of 8 is an average. I give it a 4, but both kids give it a 10. That averages out to an 8.
