I have a system as to how I rank things, with one of the most noteworthy mentions about Replayability. Yes, I will make up a word for this. There are great 1 time watches that might just be a 7. I'm old school. We either had to buy or rent movies. Re-watchable movies are important to me, even in the instant disposable world we now live in today.
7 is average. Average is good. Worth watching. 10 are special to me, so consider a 9 about as good as it gets. 8 is above average, 6 is below average, 5's and below are missing too much, have too many things about it to critic.
Movies that are not to my taste, I will try to judge on the merits of the story and how it was put together. I wont fault a movie cause it was not made for me. They might rank lower then what other deem them to be, but I wont give them a bad review because it did not fit my fancy. I don't watch many of those anyways, so expect a lot of 7's and 8s!
But ultimately my goal if you read my review is to settle your expectations so that you can get the most of the movie no matter what score it gets!
Don't forget the popcorn!

The Acolyte (2024)
Such a damn shame!
The Acolyte is great. Not perfect, but a damn good start of a good story!
But the critics!
Why does everything need to be Political these days?
Why do People complain that movies are not good when they try to be different, and then complain when they are all the same?
The Acolyte is a unique story. Without spoiling it, she is a character I have never seen before in any movie or book. They don't even make movies or shows about twins. Super rare. So take the twin idea and think of all the creative ways you could write a story on that? From what I've seen where they were going with The Acolyte, it could have been very special!
Does it have some flaws. Yes!
Why did fire burn down a rock fortress? Lame.
Why did a certain battle take out another certain group of people in a blink of an eye without even showing/explaining why/how that happened? Lazy.
These 2 flaws in the show could have been written/set designed better, and what you have left is a great way to start the story of The Sith. Ya. Where does that story start? The idea that all this evil could have originated from the Jedi is such a great way to start the whole Star Wars universe as we know it.
I think people hated it because people don't want to think anymore. They want to know who the good guys are, who the bad guys are, and not have to piece together complicated motives behind why the good guys make mistakes, and the bad guys become modeled by them. In The Acolyte, nobody is the good or bad guy, just circumstances, and people just can't see that to be a good thing.
Such potential wasted on simple minded critics who just can't appreciate the potential of where The Acolyte Story could have taken us.
Now is it worth watching knowing there wont be a second season?
That's hard to say. I think No unless they come up with a new story arch/show that can build on this. If your interested in watching this, try to leave your politics out of it, try to see where the could have gone, and you might just like it. But then feel robbed knowing your never going to see the end of it.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008)
Meh. Don't bother
This 'movie' does not fit well anywhere. Its set right in the middle of the TV show and if you miss time watching this movie with the show, both the show and the movie wont make too much sense. Its like they took 3 episodes and crammed it into a 'movie'.
IF you time it right, and your enjoying the TV show, then its OK I guess. They introduce a new character though this movie so I can kinda see why they did it this way. But its too entangled with the story of the TV show. In the TV show I remember it felt like there was some missing parts. This was the missing parts. So the movie made the TV show worse. And as a stand alone movie, its just meh. It could have been better if the start of this movie had started in a fresh location. Be its own place. Same story, different location.
All and all this movie and the TV show is only borderline worth watching. I'd only recommend it if you really want to flush out the whole Star Wars story. Watch it in order. And watch the whole thing with low expectations. Lots of watch time with low expectations is not worth recommending to see this.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008)
Nessesary but still a cartoon
A must watch for any Star Wars fan. Helps fill in some story with the Clone Wars. But it is aimed for 10 year olds. So its light and riddled with 'cartoon logic'.
I do like how they start each show with a sort of quote or proverb following with the show trying to show it. I think that is missing in cartoons these days. When I was young, I remembered everything I watched had a lesson to it. Now it seems people just want to be entertained. If I ever have kids, I'm sure I will encourage them to watch this.
If your on the fence with watching this, your not really missing out too much considering the time investment. But if you have seen this, its only the last few odd episodes that are really good. Their is a lot of this show that builds up to the end, however its only really the end that is GREAT! Now that I have seen this, someday if I want to resee this, I'll just watch the last few odd episodes. Because this is not a good re-watch, I can't give it a good rating.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024)
Good but not great.
7.4
IMDb needs to change rating cause there is big difference between numbers. Bad Boys is not an 8. It does a lot of great things well. Its a good movie. But there are some details that leave it kinda meh too. But its not quite a 7 either. Maybe a 7.5? But then I'd I have to round up to 8 or something stupid like that.
Bad Boys has all the classic modern day action you'd expect. But that's the problem. You expect it from them. So definitely good if you want to see a classic action flick made for 2024. But its got some of that 'cartoon logic' that just makes no sense. Its got some good humor to it. Good jokes. Sure. But its not a dedicated comedy to justify the 'cartoon logic' in my opinion. Some of the jokes seem a little to forced too. Like the idea is there but the landing is what it is.
Regardless though, good movie, just nothing memorable. The 1st is still the best.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)
Mad Max is just a side character in Furiosas life!
This is technically Part 1 from the 2015 Mad Max Fury Road movie. Somehow this made Part 2 better even though it came out after it.
Weird no?
But they pulled it off!
Mad Max Fury to me was all about Max. I mean, that's what the movie was about. Mad Max. Its in the title. Saving the girls was just the thing Heros do. But Furiosa just turned this story about her. Its been her story the entire time. And Shes Dangerous!
You have to continue along with some cartoon logic, let it go, and its a hell of movie to experience. They really dial into the darkness of the environment they are in. Pure chaos! A great visual medium of this dark hypothetical post apocalyptic world we humans seem to enjoy fantasying about. Enjoy it for what it is!
Definitely worth watching again. But first, got to back and watch part 2!
The Last of Us (2023)
Its got its moments, but clumsy in others.
I don't hate it. But its way over hyped. Its exactly what you'd expect without delivering anything you would have expected. OK, its not trying to be a gory show like The Walking Dead, and that is what I actually like about this show. But I'm not sold on the girl.
Now I've never played the games, so I don't know what really to compare it too, but she's not it. Too many cuss words. Dial that back a lot please. Otherwise, because its not a 'gore show', she has to talk tough to sell her character, and talk is cheap.
I could easily have not watched episode 3. It was the longest episode that added very little to the story. I don't have a problem with 'filler episodes', showing other peoples stories. I wish they did more of that with The Walking Dead. Their story is OK, I did not mind it. But they did not have to show us things I did not care to see. They could have cut the intimate scenes out and I'd be OK with their relationship. They could have trimmed that show to normal length and it would be better.
All in all, I will continue watching the series, but there is nothing here I find worth watching again.
One Time Watch.
El hoyo (2019)
Great Message, Poor Editing
This movie has a jump cut feel. Its only an hour and a half, they could have let moments sink in a little long to make it better. The scripting could have been polished a bit, but maybe that's a translation issue?
Otherwise the movie watches like it was a written as a book. So even though the look and feel of the movie is not bad, it could have been better with some polish.
Now. The Message.
This is parody of a sorts of Society. Of our physiology. Its not about today, its been this way forever and will likely be this way so long as were still considered human. If you cut though the choppy speediness of the scripting, they really do try to squeeze in as much of our darker nature as they can. And that is what makes this movie good!
The parody element of this movie, if you get it, is really quite unfortunate. I mean that in a good way. But what I mean is this movie is meant to show us the dark side of ourselves. Rich or Poor, its human nature where ever you are to be who you are and see others as they are. If you looking down, they are beneath you. Lots of studies prove this. Looking up and asking for help is never going to get a positive result. And those that come from the bottom to the top will become the top. It is just who we are as monkeys in a money society. You can feel bad for it, but you can't change it.
Fallout (2024)
Its good but not as good as the games
I don't know what to say. There are parts about this show that really nailed it, and I mean they nailed it! And there are parts that don't. I can easily overlook many of the little things as the big ones definitively overshadow it. But its missing one key thing: Fallout did not hooked me in.
I've played all the Fallout games long before it was made popular on the consoles. I did not play the new one that failed mind you. Overall, Fallout is probably my most favorite Game Franchise ever made. So why does it feel like it came short somewhere?
I think its because in the games, you do have to use your imagination. In cinema, your kinda expected to show it. Now I don't think the dark side of Fallout needs to be shown like the Saw movies, cause that would put a lot of people off. The games were limited to cartoon graphics, and cartoon puns. It was a perfect combination. Fallout the TV show is trying to blend 2 different story telling mediums and somehow falls a little short in that.
I don't think I'm making a good point here. Its just something I feel. Put another way, I'll probably one watch this once. But it does not have re-watch interest for me. But hey, maybe my expectations are too high and I just got to let it play out more. Its just the start. Lets see where Season 2 goes and maybe I will have to change my mind about Season 1.
Barbie (2023)
Its fun, strange and controversial
I really did not want to watch it. But people kept talking about how controversial it was. Usually movies like that I like. A movie that inspires you to think. It seems like in one way or another, a lot of movies are doing that these days and I think that's great!
But Barbie...
I don't know who to root for. Its a Battle of the Sex's. Nobody can win therefor everyone will lose. Our history. Our Today, its all messy. I doubt our future will be any better. And that's why I think people were complaining about the end. Like the movie was supposed to give us an answer to our problems.
Barbie did not create this problem, even though it has a controversial history, and it sure wont solve our future. Regardless, in the end, we are all out for number 1. Most of the time we will fall very short of that and that is just life for everyone.
So if your on the fence about seeing this one, watch it!
Just don't expect it to solve any of your problems. And if your lucky, maybe you might for a moment have some sympathy for what the other sex has to go though. More importantly, deep down inside, were all the same. So lets not be rough on each other OK?
Killers of the Flower Moon (2023)
I don't see the hype
Its long winded!
Its not all bad. Its not a classic Hollywood movie. Sure its got a star actor that does a great job at but I don't agree with the critics saying its his best work yet.
As for the story, I'm not sure how accurate it is. It might have some inspiration from the real world, but somehow it still felt kinda made up to me. But maybe I'm not as aware of the history of Oil and the Natives. As far as I thought, they were pushed out and never seen any oil money. Pardon my ignorance if that is true.
But even if its historically accurate, its a slow movie. The pace of it reminds me of old movies. Maybe if they used vintage glass, it might have helped, but it has a very clean digital look to it that took away any nostalgia. There were some post editing decisions that I also though were 'too over the top' that distracted me. Overall it just did not hook me in.
You wont be missing anything if you don't see it. But I'm sure there are those that will like it. This is not a recommended watch.
Poor Things (2023)
Definitly not for most people
The reviews and previews of this movie do not accurately portray what this movie is really about. It is not for everyone, even though it has a place for some. For most by far it will be quite uncomfortable!
Let me say that again: You will find this quite uncomfortable.
I don't believe in spoilers so I can't tell you exactly why. I have to give the movie a 10/10 for creativity, but the content of this is quite twisted. If you do want to watch this movie you will find out soon into it what it is about. The whole movie will be about that. That is probably not something your going to want to keep seeing. So be prepared to have something else to do if you don't wish to finish this movie!
But it is an interesting idea at least. I can see why some really like it. There is nothing else quite like it. In the area of Arts, and a story that touches on things not quite seen anywhere, it is good for that. Its just not going to be for most people. You've been warned!
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
Not an 8, but not quite a 9 either. 8.5!
I think people don't know how to appreciate movies anymore. Is this the best MCU movie ever made? Probably not. But its not bad by any stretch of how some critics perceive the direction of the MCU.
Don't forget that this is an on going story, not a one off thing. If you have not seen Loki, then your missing a huge part of this movie. You have to think of this as one big story told over many movies and TV shows throughout decades. There is nothing else quite like it. Star Wars. Star Trek. Could even through Lord of the Rings. You have to see this movie as a small part of a larger story.
In this one, you have an 'average guy' that defeated the most powerful being in all of time. More powerful then all the Avengers combined! They do it where no one thinks could exist. What such creativity! Can you imagine?
And that is probably why at the heart of why MCU, and Disney, is 'losing' favorably. They are creating stories people don't understand. Pushing the boundaries of what is normal and average. Average people want average things. Look at car colors as an example. We once wanted a variety of colors, now everyone wants to blend in and become the same. They choice black or white, or something in between.
Tall Poppy Syndrome. Look it up.
Keep growing tall MCU/Disney! I get it and I want more of it!
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Its good. Worth watching. But not the best.
Its good. But I liked the way Infinity Wars ended better. Time travel stories are hard to like because anything can happen by just messing with it. And that's what they did. They used time to fix a problem. Now I get it, Time is a thing. Its worth telling stories about. Its just so hard to do well.
Besides that, the story is OK. Classic superhero stuff. Its still a good movie. Certainly for what its worth, its a good finally to everything leading up to this movie. Its nice to see the paths of all the superheros coming together to fight the ultimate evil. Or so we think.
Thanatos is powerful. But hes not Loki powerful...
It (2017)
Grossly underrated and misunderstood.
First, It is not 2 different movies. You have to see them together as one to see the whole story.
Second. Its not a Horror Movie. Its not trying to scare you, its trying to show you what It is. Do you know what It is?
It is Fear.
Fear is a construct of our minds. It only exist if you give it power. Fear is unavoidable. Fear is the first emotion all biology develops. Its the chemical reaction to avoid death. Every living organism needs this to survive. Fear is the perfect de-motivator as death comes in many forms including Change.
But Fear is subjective. Fear is a Singularity. What is on the other side of It is a mystery. That mystery is a mind block due to the chemical reactions going on in your brain. So you can't see though It when your feeling It. But It is subjective. If you can understand something well enough to stop feeling it, and go through the Singularity. We've all conquered a Fear or two, and when we do, we are free from it and enjoy whatever comes to you after. Sometimes that feeling can be profoundly blissful and relaxing.
The movie and story of It covers all the bases. All the fears you can imagine are addressed in one way or another. The story also shows what happens when you stand up to It and how its way easier to do face It together in groups. It exist on the individual level, as well as though the many. We all see the News on TV. We all fear many things together.
All of Mans achievements are battles with Fear. It takes groups of people that come together to calculate and push though that Singularity to get to the other side. And there are Heros and Leaders that have to persevere so those that those that follow might have it better. All movies made have a character that has a challenge they need to overcome. Every one of them has to face Fear. It is our greatest challenge, and though it, our greatest rewards. Assuming It does not actually kill us!
Everyone, the Actors and the Production team that put this together did a great job. They did the Book written by Steven King good. Rarely does a book translate well into video, and I think this is a good example of one. It might even be better then the book!
If you have seen this, or about to see this, watch them together as one long movie. Maybe over 2 days if you have too. And try to spot all the kinds of fears that exist. Try to see how they conquered it. And try to learn something from this.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Aged like the finnest of wines!
This is the best TV show in all of the Star Trek universe. By itself, its a good Sci-Fi. But its not by itself. It has history. And what a way to bring it all together!
I need to say I'm not a 'Star Trek Nerd'. Growing up, it was what 'Dads' were into. It was OK, even pretty good, but not my generation. Frankly I enjoyed Voyager more because it was the least like Star Trek. Voyager was my introduction to the franchise.
So when someone said that Seven was a Captain, I really had to see for myself. Needless to say my mind was blown when I seen her take control of a Borg Cube!
They did a fantastic job bring the band back together!
Season 1 8/10
What a great way to start. The plot is quite relevant to the news were having this last past year and a half. Everyone is talking about AI. AI is everywhere, and it would be weird if Star Trek did not have a spin of it too. All in all, I liked what they did with this! I was hooked and the binge watching was in full force!
Season 2 5/10
Its good where its good but bad where it is bad. Anytime you introduce time travel, nothing matters. The only thing that matters is the start and the end. Everything in the middle can be twisted to all degrees in so many ways and still come to the same conclusion. But to be fair, its a concept that does deserve the attempts to create stories with. I just think they fall short most of the time. In this case, you just roll with it, it does start and ends well.
But that's not the bad. Its like were watching the draft of Season 2 that did not get polished up. There are countless little things that just don't fit well as a good story. I do get at time you have to do something just to move the story along, but this season had dozen of such moments.
The good news, it attempts to go into Jean Luc past and uncover some physiological traumas. But I felt they did some dragging and they never really showed or sold me what did actually happen to his mom. Between this and the amount of screen time Rios got in his side story, and how it ended, I think they could have made this season 7 or 8 shows instead of 10 and been better for it.
Season 3 9/10
Now were cooking with dilithium! The Stage is set, the crew is back together, and we have yet another save the Federation against all odds plot, and they have to do it with the old ship. Nostalgia is all over this season! This one is for the Boomers!
All 3 seasons have that 'end of the story' feel. What I mean is it does not drag out for season after season waiting for the big moment. It starts big and stays big. Its going to be hard to see how they can keep pushing big ideas, but I have little worries about the next couple of seasons. Star Trek Picard is pushing hard at being the best Star Trek has ever made!
All in all when you go back to rewatch it, just skip Season 2 and its a great!
Now the 4th season is not out yet and I have some speculations.
(edit - found out there is no season 4 but Ill leave my thoughts about it as is.)
First, I Jean Luc Picard is aging. All the respects for the legacy he has left behind. Truly legendary in the entirety of TV/Movies. Everyone knows who he is, Star Trek nerd or not. What a guy, and what a roll did he play! Well done!
But I have noticed his vitality diminishing from season 1 to 3. His time is limited and I can tell he is trying to pass his baton to the next. I think that's part of the reason for this show. To leave on a good note. But I fear, and what might be best for season 4 is for him to 'slow down' and not be the main character. Put the emphasis on his son, and of course Seven. Jean should be a guest star to tie up some story bits.
His time is near, and I hope its well planned out where he has his final episode while he still has the vitality to leave the last impression to the world before hes gone. I don't want to see him become that frail old man. He earned his time here on earth, he had a good go, and I want to remember him for what and who he is. Not the dying guy. Please don't push him past his abilities. Yet, I hope hes still a part of this in some way for some time yet.
But who knows what full body scans/AI CGI that will exist long after his time? Who knows, maybe a digital Jean Luc Picard will remain and be in 1000's more TV and movies for the next 100 years?
Maybe in some way, Jean Luc Picard will be the first immortalized human in our history whom will live long and prosper in the hearts and minds of all future Star Trek fans for Generations to come!
Prometheus (2012)
You will need to bring some context to this movie to like it.
The first go I had with the movie I thought it was alright. I did enjoy it, but it did have some questions that were not answered, with a few piece of logic you have to put aside when watching any scifi movie. Then I got to the vert last scene. I only caught onto that little piece of history till the very end.
So this had me checking out the viewer reviews here on IMDb. The very top one here written by gogoschka-1 with no numerical rating is what had me going back to watch this movie from a different perspective. You really have to read it to fill in some of the missing context. It all made sense now.
Is there the odd detail I would I would consider changing? Maybe? I hear there is an extended version of this movie that is much better. Maybe I will hold off my thoughts on tweaking this move till I see that.
In the mean time, I do think this movie is easily underappreciated. I think you should read the review from gogoschka-1 and then watch this movie. It makes me think about its meaning well after. Its in the tittle of the movie. Most of what this movie can be easily missed if you don't know what your looking at. So that is why its getting some lack luster reviews from many.
Pain Hustlers (2023)
I think it could have been better then it is.
Its close. They got the story. Its just missing a certain polish. Like they under budgeted the editing. The sound design is not where it should be. So often during the movie I'm thinking about why I'm hearing bad sound design. I think this movie could have been way better.
Otherwise, its a good story. The story starts the protagonist with good motivate to do what she needed to do. But towards the end, she flipped too soon. Love it or hate it, everyone has a self preservation instinct. People will do bad things, knowing they are doing bad things, and still wont give in till a certain degree of pressure is on them so long as its very economically beneficial. And before it gets to that point, there is a lot of self destructing behaviors that come first. This movie did skipped a lot of that.
So in the end, is it worth watching?
Ya. Why not. But if you skip it, you did not really miss anything. I sure don't have any interest in watching it a second time, which is too bad because if they nailed the edit, it could have been a great movie.
Old Dads (2023)
Polarized ! Just the way Bill intended it!
If anyone is too slow to figure why Bill is so angry all the time, this movie is meant for you!
The World we live in. No common sense. Everything is Political and Sensitive. The only people that might be able to talk about it so publicly are the Comedians, so I hope to see more of Bill!
If you a Bill fan, this movie is awesome. But if you not, then its going to strait up offend you. Who cares, it will give you something to talk to your therapist about.
Otherwise there is nothing over the top to make this a great movie. Well done for Bills first go at Directing. Its his story and hes telling it his way. I like that.
Contagion (2011)
Now this is a pandemic!!
I can't believe I'm just seeing this now in 2023 after the Plandemic of 2019. Definitely watched this one with a bit of judgment.
The good news, they did a wonderful job showing how scary a virus of this magnitude could be. I could not help but think this is exactly like a zombie movie, only nobody needs to be bit, or they don't need to have their faces falling apart. But the rest is there. Hordes of people afraid for their lives chasing anyone or anything that might have the resources to survive. The Limbic Brain, when it kicks in, can do a lot of damages!
But I had to give it a 7. The ending just sort of ends. Kinda out of the blue. Your watching, its good, then its done. And they totally forgot the run on Toilet Paper. No mass panic can't be complete without the fight over TP!
I'm probably one of the only people who have not seen this, but if your curious, its still worth a watch. It does not sugar coat the drama, so if your squeamish this might not be for you. Otherwise enjoy seeing what the News tried to sell you in 2019 and be grateful they are wrong. But that proves another problem we should be afraid of too...
I wonder if they will make a movie about that...
Don't Look Up!
Downsizing (2017)
A rare and unique story undeserving of its reviews
Wow! Bravo!
This. This is a movie. It takes you scene by scene down a journey that is very hard to image if you never thought much of it. I mean, can we really have empathy for this story? How can we relate?
This is why I think the reviews are hit and miss. If your not willing to invest your curiosity and be at awe to where this story takes you, you can miss the point. Its riddled with brain food. So much to consider, so much to reflect on, on both ends of the spectrum. Its just as dark as it is full of light.
Imagine if it were that easy. How many problems could we solve?
But even if we could, could we ultimately solve the biggest problem of them all? Is it all moot in the end?
Between then and now, we are all somebody. We all have a story. Some have better ones then others, and this story probably would rival any. So enjoy this story, cause stories so unique are so hard to find in Hollywood. Try to really put yourself in his shoes and think and feel as you think you would if you were seeing this with your own eyes.
My recommendations is don't watch the previews, don't read the reviews, and just dedicate yourself to this experience with no expectations of what you think your going to see. Maybe even enjoy a little herb to bump it up a little? Sit back and be prepared to be wide eyed bewildered and impressed with the creativity in this story!
Dolittle (2020)
Needs more refinement and it could be exceptional!
I really don't want to give this movie a hard time but I have too. It feels rushed. Like it was edited for YouTube. Fast and pushed.
The story, OK, maybe its for a younger audience. But it was light all around. Trying to be funny, and it it certainly has its good moments, still felt forced. They should have let the movie breath a little. Cut out some of the lines that don't need to be there, and let the good lines have time to settle in before moving onto the next.
The good? Well if you break it down into smaller parts, one liners, its actually kinda good. I do see potential for a second movie to be made, and if they slow down and polish the edit a bit, it could be better then the first. A rare thing. But that just goes to show how close they could have been with this one.
No One Will Save You (2023)
Visual Masterpiece. Scene by Scene THRILL if you just let it be as it is.
What this movie ends up being, if you look at in a certain light, is Aliens... Wait!
I can't spoil the movie for ya!
I have a comedic voice over impression idea that might have a certain interest if it were to be made. I'll give you a hint:
What if the aliens are the good guys the entire time?
Who's really the monster in this movie?
Kay! That's enough!
I do like this movie. The only part that bugs me, and I have to pre-frame this by saying it does move the story forward. It puts you in scenes that were really well done for that moment. But watching mistakes took the 'scare' out of it, and could not help but notice a comedic addition to the story that who knows, might be a cool movie.
Anyways, enjoy the movie. It does answer questions you will have, so be patient and just go for a ride with where it takes you!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023)
This is the reason we watch movies!
Did not expect this to be good. Honestly, I never did have a thing for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles growing up. So going into this one I was expecting to come out of it saying I seen it. I did not expect it to be bad or anything, just different.
Now I must admit I smoked a little something, and I must admit the art directions really aided in that. But I had another watch, and I really studied the movie. Only being 1 hour and 30 minutes long, watching the cuts, they really tightened everything up. Its fast pace and well scripted. So easy to miss things the first time as 'everything is in focus'. Lots of Easter Eggs, lots of character reactions that happen so fast that you need to watch it more then once to see it all. But its a good casual movie. I will definitely be watching this again again.
BlackBerry (2023)
Still Rock'n the BBQ10!
I love it. I love what it meant. 10 years, 2 batteries, and I still can't imagine going to a 'smart' phone. I sure wish they were still around, I could use a better weather app! Lol
Blackberry. Why oh why?
You invented the industry. But it sure was short lived. In hindsight, I really do not know what could have saved you. I don't know how much of this movie is true, but it sure portrayed you were always struggling with something internally. Maybe with a bit of better historical luck, you'd still be around?
As for the movie itself. I think it would only appeal to those that have once been a Crackberry addict. There was something special about it when everyone else was on other phones. That same addiction is present with anyone using a phone today, but its does not have that special thing that the Crackberry had. The addiction was exclusive. Crackberry addicts know what I'm talking about. As for the rest of you, you might want to pass on this movie.
The best part about this movie is how well they brought back feelings of nostalgia for those days. The days before the internet. When people spent time in rooms interacting with one another. Those were the days.
The worse part of this movie is how forced some of the characters were. Not quite overacting, but not quite 'real' either. The chemistry was not there. A lot of scenes just felt to forced to me. Like good enough, 'were not trying to make a good movie, were just here to tell a story.' A story I'm glad to see, but not one I wish to see again.
In the mean time, still pushing my Blackberry for as long as I can!
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
Warning! Tear Jerker!!!
Who would have thought Marvel could come out with a watery eyed gem! Advised to maybe watch by yourself so you can feel the story!
Guardians of the Galaxy is easily my favorite story line in the Marvel universe.
Volume 1 had everyone angry and pitted against each other due to each of their own respective painful back stories. But came out as a team. Solid. Volume 2 was what you'd expect. The team doing their thing. Good movie. But expected. But Volume 3...
What can I say about Volume 3 other then it insured the deeper meaning of friendship. The meaning of shared circumstances that unites us. If nothing else, we are all the same when we've gone down the same road. Empathy. You can't fake it. You can't fake the bond between friends that have been though the thick of it together.
But Volume 4? Where is it going to go from here? With the bar set so high, well... I hope to find out. But only if they get it right. I will remain patience and enjoy the first 3 Volumes in the mean time!
