Movin' On: Will the Last Trucker Leaving Charlotte Please Turn Out the Lights (1975)
Movin' On of the 70s was a truck driver show
The show was based on the premise of Sonny Pruitt, Independent truck owner and driver and his swamper, Will Chandler, a law educated driver partner.
They long haul loads around the country, helping those in need along the way.
Sonny controls the loads and Will handles the paperwork end, such as the legal log books as well as any legal problems they may run into during their travels.
I have the complete set of Truckerflicks.com version. However, the quality is not that good on most. Also, these are not made from the original prints, as others have stated, but instead are made from recorded copies taken from airing. This is evident by the logo in the corner from the TV station airing and the voice over announcing upcoming programs in the ending credits. Additionally, at least one has text that pops up along the bottom to stop calling (seems the station was running a contest during the show). The coloring is poor, almost washed out during most of the episodes.
There is a 20 episode collection available from another site that has better quality but you don't get all the episodes. The episode "Ammo" is not right in the set. It stops playing and skips back to the menu at the same spot every time losing about the last 10-15 minutes of the show. The color and clarity is much better in this collection, though.
Also, if memory serves, the theme song wording changed from the first to the second verse of the song with the change from season one to season 2. The words, "living like a gypsy, always on the go..." changed to "a good hot cup of coffee is waiting up ahead..." yet all collections I have obtained contain only the second verse.
Both companies distributing this have only the later version, though. It seems as if they picked one opening sequence and just use that and then use the show from the commercial break after the opening credits on.
It is a shame that collectors have gotten the original, higher quality copies of this program before they could be used to produce high quality product for others to purchase.
Second in Command (2006)
Not an accurate movie
This is probably one of Mr. Van Damme's worst movies in my opinion. I wouldn't even grade it a good B movie! As a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Navy, I was shocked at the poor attempt to recreate US Military uniforms. The officer uniform he is wearing when he enters the hotel at the beginning has Enlisted service stripes (that go approx 1/4 the circumference of the sleeve) instead of officer stripes indicating rank which totally encircle the sleeve. The jacket itself has such large lapels that the ribbons and his Seal insignia are not even visible. Actual uniforms may hide the first ribbon, but the Seal insignia is quite large and very visible when worn on this uniform.
In addition, when he arrives at his new command after the attack, he is greeted by a Marine in one of the worst uniforms I have ever seen on a Marine! If a Marine were to wear his uniform in that manner, he would not be a Marine for long! It is very apparent that the US Military did not get consulted for this movie!
Errors glare like this throughout the movie. I am a 20+ year retired veteran of the USN and quite able to accurately known what uniforms should look like!
Emergency!: Understanding (1973)
Trivia
The rescue squad's license plate is 999007. In this episode, when the squad responds to a bank robbery, a police car in the background has a blue license plate with number 999008. In addition, the squad's license plate is black with yellow lettering, the police car plate is blue with yellow numbers. Why the difference in coloring? The first episode of this season show Johnny and Roy "working" on the squad at the station with the engine gone. They swap wrenches, etc until Boot steals a screwdriver. However, notice the license plate during this scene. There are several large areas missing paint and rusting on the plate. In later episodes of this season the license plate looks new and all the paint is back and shiny. No comment on what happened to the plate nor why it was replaced. Figuring since it was the first episode of the season, maybe something happened at the lot during the off season?
Emergency!: Helpful (1972)
Error between Helpful and Boot episode credits
I purchased the Second Season being a devoted fan of Emergency when I was a kid. I watched all episodes in a few days. Helpful credits list Jamie Farr as a member of a cult. I never saw him in the episode and I searched for him. I finally gave up.
Then, while watching "Boot" I saw him in the episode as a cult member who Dr. Early "pretends" to remove a curse so his hand will work again. His name was NOT in the credits for this episode. Somehow the credits between the two episodes got his name mixed up. I wonder if it was an extra scene that was shot for one show and then used in another instead.
Anyhow. . . watch "Helpful" and "Boot" and you will see this is correct.
