Monster High (2022)
No.
Maybe the reason I (and a majority of long-term Monster High fans) hate this show is that we feel betrayed. We grew up with a beautiful masterpiece that did nothing but preach about how we shouldn't change ourselves for others and how we should love ourselves. Also, I understand how the characters look more diverse and whatnot, but they are MONSTERS for a reason. They aren't supposed to look like 'normal people' because they aren't. It feels like they betrayed us by changing how the characters looked and sounded.
And I know it seems like I'm overreacting but it is just difficult watching the thing that practically raised thousands of young kids change for some random parents complaining that it 'scared' their kids. It feels like everything they used to preach about is a huge lie.
The Box (2009)
Very Stephen King-esque.
The Box is an (in my personal opinion) very well-done movie overall.
Some positives I have are mainly involving the aesthetic and general cinematography, when I first watched the movie, I genuinely believed it was based and/or directed by Stephen King because of the creativity in so many of the different scenes throughout the film, along with the almost borderline gore. Additionally, I did enjoy the cinematography in the film with all the types of angles and symmetry.
Though the only complaints that I have are; The movie did feel as though it felt a bit more rushed toward the end of the movie, especially with the explanation of the lore, and the actors wouldn't be my first choice even though they did do a well job.
The End of the F***ing World (2017)
Beautiful 1st Season, Horrid 2nd Season
Do not get me started on this show, it was so beautifully done. I mean the creativity a person has to have to create this absolute masterpiece of film. The way it shows both James and Alyssas lives in such perfect detail, I really felt like I knew each of the characters extremely well, like I was living in their heads. Along with the amazing character writings, the plot and story line were gut-wrenching and impeccable. Each plot point carrying it along to the next beautifully. Along with the poetic but calm dialogue is dark and refreshing to hear whilst still keeping a serious but comedic outlook on the entirety of the show.
Though even if the first season is beautiful the second season felt like wasted potential.
The Big Bang Theory (2007)
Eh
The Big Bang Theory started off well, though the last few seasons left me with a few (dozen) questions.
In the later seasons some things got repetitive, or just seemed to not get enough screen time in general, also some things seemed a little bit useless. Some criticism I have:
Leonard and his mother, it is extremely obvious that Leonards mother was very abusive, which I did not find amusing mostly because of how both Penny and Sheldon (the people who were supposed to respect and love him the most) both chose to ignore the underlying issue of very obvious abuse and still continued having a well friendship with his mother along with never defending him when his mother went out of her way to insult him.
Leonard and Penny, at first, they seem like a cute couple who love each other dearly but when you get a closer look it is obvious, they are not meant to be, this is because they are constantly in disagreements because neither of them are good at communicating to each other their feelings. Also the joke "He/I wore her down", does get repetitive after a while.
Additionally, I think Howard and Amy should have had more screentime together.
Overall, just because they look good together most certainly does not mean they are good together.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)
Fantastic
I believe that Wakanda Forever is one of the better Marvel movies;
for the most part, because it is (To my knowledge) the only Marvel movie that is mainly a WOC & a majority female cast. I also think it is written wonderfully and shows all types of WOC, not just stereotypes. Additionally, the CGI is extremely well done, it made me feel as though I was in the movie itself. Also, the fight scenes were seemingly very accurate, well the whole movie seemed to be extremely accurate in all of its writing, character-wise (especially with the representations of African cultures) and violence-wise. I think this movie is such a good face for Marvel because it shows young girls (especially POC) that girls and women are equally as important to justice as men (even if it is all fictional).
