Oh, the humanity

The movie is stupid and bad beyond concepts. The acting is unreal. Mario van Peebles should be banned from making films or acting anywhere in the world!

This is beyod bad

For something to be THAT bad it has to be intentional. I cringed for an hour and a half to those dialogues, to that "religiousness awakening", to those actors who seemed to try their best to forget acting. OR - and that's where my dilemma begins - maybe that was, as I stated at the beginning, intentional. And if it was, it asks for a justice action.

Oh, boy...

The movie is awful. Bad acting, over-dramatic attitudes, incredibly schematic characters. I have no idea how rara avis like Chiwetel Ejiofor accepted to star in it. Charlize Theron, a great actress in the days of yore, is the worst thing that could ever happen to this movie. Aside the screenplay. Or the directing. Or many others.

Hm? So, the black becomes white and the white becomes bad?
16 April 2017
Far of being racist, but why the political correctness to the extreme? What should have happened if the bad guy from the movie (Denzel) continued to be bad in the series? Black guys aren't allowed to be bad anymore on TV and on the screen? They're only introspective, serious, well behaved, naive but honest, well- meaning, understanding guys? Really? There are some great actors there, besides Denzel Washington, who may be very uppset about the limitatons imposed by the networks. It is a well known fact that the bad guy is the most complex character, and almost always the most less-forgettable. It's sad that politics dictate. The show is bad. Not because what i've wrote above, but because IT IS bad. Sorry for Paxton - it is his last project. I'm very curious what will become of the show now.

Oh my God

Yea, oh my God. I can't believe Tarantino's name appear somewhere at the beginning of this movie. Awful? That's an understatement. And I'm not talking about the cast - they did their job well. It is more subjective than that: I visited Bratislava few years ago and I don't know if the footage took place there, but mark my words: Bratislava is one of the most civilized and developed cities in the former Eastern block. Any war there? But excuse me. Kids gangs haunting the streets? You must be kidding me. I don't know why those bloody Americans don't place their plots somewhere in that south-central L.A. Or in Buffalo, for example. 'coz this movie is an insult to Europe - Amsterdam is about drugs and Eastern Europe is about poverty and misery. Get a life, take a trip here and look around - you'll see why this movie is full of crap.

A good war movie
23 May 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This is a movie of a forgotten history. During the winter of 1944, the Romanian army was struggling to capture Budapest from the Nazis. After the war, the entire merit of capturing Budapest went to the Soviets, but, in fact, they entered the city only after the Romanians assured the objectives. This movie was regarded as "politically incorrect" in communist Romania soon after it hit the screen. True WW II Romanian veterans know what sacrifices implied the conquest of Budapest. But the communist power later confiscated the victory and they attributed it to the Soviet Army. "Am fost 16" ("We were 16" or better "There were 16 of us") is a story of a platoon whose mission was to keep a strong point in the center of Budapest - they did it heroically and suffered great casualties due to inferior number and infrastructure. The characters are very credible and the actors are among the best Romania had at the time. Sebastian Papaiani, Alexandru Repan and Iurie Darie still are among the most loved ones. The plot is consistent even if some dialogs are obsolete. A good movie, I'd say. Regarding the proportions, I can compare it to "Saving private Ryan". It's an 8/10 in my opinion.
