Das Signal (2024)
Had potential
It is not bad. I enjoyed the beginning. It does a good job at capturing the imagination. The first episode pulled me in and got me to the second. The middle portion certainly had its moments. The plot is decent and the acting is good. However, the plot does drag quite a bit. The other episodes was somewhat repetitive and even boring. The plot begins to show that it has a number of inconsistencies and even becomes somewhat incoherent towards the end. The conclusion is sweet, I don't want to put in any spoilers but nevertheless the ending is a bit anticlimactic. Overall I would rate it a 5.8. Should a second season be in the works, it will have to make improvements.
Resident Evil (2022)
It deserved a second season
Netflix, what a damp rag it turned out to be. It is losing interest of its viewers because of their habit of canceling decent programs after one season. The critics of Resident Evil are hung up on their nostalgia and they can't even see that this take is creatively imagined, written and well acted. Lance Reddick shows off a great deal of talent. I found myself watching and wanting to see more of his many characters. "Albert" and "Bert" are excellent displays. He certainly makes the series on his acting alone. The others do a good job as well. Nicely weaves two time periods. It deserved a second season.
Of the Devil (2022)
Dreadful
Bad script, bad acting, questionable camerawork and full of horror cliches. Some nice costumes and set deco. The main problem is the script. Forces the actors into totally artificial reactions to the point of humor. Unfortunately it's not a comedy and the film takes itself seriously. Whoever gave this film a seven rating is completely misleading. I don't want to give spoilers in the event someone wants to give it a try on a boring Friday evening when there's absolutely nothing else to do and you just can't fall asleep early. I would suggest it's better to was dishes. Overall don't waste your time.
Plan Z (2016)
Not bad
As other reviewers have noted this film was done on a low budget but they made the most of it. It's a decent character study. It certainly deserves more than a 4.8.
