Assy McGee (2006)
Hilariously Stupid
I will start this review by saying that Assy McGee, at it's core, is a very stupid show. While there is some clever parody of cop drama shows at some points, it doesn't change the fact that the premise of the show is just completely stupid. As others have mentioned, you may need to be a certain age or have watched older shows to totally appreciate the humor, but as a younger viewer my lack of knowledge on films like Cobra doesn't get in the way of my enjoyment of this show.
But that's what the beauty of this show is. It doesn't need intelligent comedy or good writing to be funny. After all, this is a show about a cop that is just an ass and legs, so what do you expect? Watching Assy's over-the-top trigger happiness and unhinged one-liners is enough to do what the show aims to do.
Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe (2022)
Beavis and Butthead Withstand the Test of Time
The movie's got a few slow moments, but if you're a fan of the stupidity that is Beavis and Butthead, you're gonna have a good time watching this movie.
There were a few characters I would have liked to see who didn't end up showing up, but overall I was pleased with the new world for Beavis and Butthead to interact with, and it makes for some hilarious moments. Of course, everyone in the movie is at least a little stupid, for Beavis and Butthead's hijinks rely partially on the naïvity of others.
What I loved most about this movie is how well the attitudes and tropes of B&B fit into their modern setting. At some points, they seem just marginally smarter than they have been shown to be in the past, but don't worry, it's nothing that prevents them from getting into the situations we know and love them for. Their social ineptitude, tone-deafness, and general idiotic behavior are in no way impeded by the 21st century's world. It only offers them more opportunities to cause meyhem, on perhaps an even greater scale than ever before.
For those who have seen Beavis and Butthead do America, they may find the plot reminiscent of it. While I can't say I enjoyed this movie more than the former, I would absolutely say that this movie is worth any Beavis and Butthead fan's time.
