The Thundermans Return (2024)
Honestly Really Good!!
Color me suprised cause I legit liked this way more than I thought I would. My only real gripes are with the pacing meaning it should've been longer to let some story beats breathe a little. Aside from that, this was a great revival movie. The cast hasn't missed a beat and it feels like the original show in every way. The jokes are perfectly hit and miss as usual which has always been part of its charm. The story is very interesting and picks up right after the events of the finale, the action scenes and some of the effects are a step up from the original. I'm glad they improved on how Billy looks when he super speeds. A Godsend if you ask me. And it expands the lore of the show in a really compelling way.
The emotional beats are really good. I'm glad they let this film be a means to reinvent Chloe since she wasn't much of a character in the original?? Not like it was a bad thing but she did feel like the sassy youngest sibling of a lot of family shows?? I'm happy they did this arc of her coming into her own as a character and barb and hank letting go. One thing I really loved about this and the original show is that even though they're heroes, phoebe and max aren't devoid of making mistakes. They clearly thought about themselves when wanting their jobs back and saw their family as colleagues rather than...well family. This lesson is something I'm glad they did once more since it again harkens back to the series finale of the show.
Overall, the thundermans return is the revival NONE of us wanted and surprisingly enough it lived up to my expectations. Not the best revival I've seen but props to the crew for really capturing the magic of the original show to a T. And if this is a backdoor pilot to a revival series, then I can say without a shred of sarcasm, I'm here for it. There's alot they can do with what they set up so please nickelodeon, bring this show back. 8.5/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Pretty Freekin Scary (2023)
Surprisingly good!
Pretty freekin scary is way better than I initially thought. While not the best disney channel show points were made in another categories. The show feels very visually creative, the music gives the show an Erie vibe that fits the premise, the characters are pretty well developed in the first season, and the pacing surprisingly tight.
I was not expecting to like this at all so color me suprised. This is the first disney channel original series in a while that's felt creative. The way the session ends REALLY makes me want disney to renew for a 2nd season.
It maybe an 8/10 but it's really an 8.5/10.
Ultra Violet & Black Scorpion (2022)
Underrated Disney Channel Show
Honestly, this show is well worth a watch. The characters and overall writing are great and while not funny, it's the character dynamics that make up for most of the comedic moments which does not go unappreciated by me. I've watched all 10 episodes and I enjoy where they're going with this show. This is kme of the best shows I've seen on disney in years.
