Absolutely astonishing
21 May 2016
It starts off sedately enough, seems as if whatever will happen will be as ordinary and normal as a day at the office, then WHAM. The juxtaposition of incongruous sounds, broken, altered dialogue, and images that are both discomfiting yet highly erotic and sensual combine to assault all five senses. Then there's Peter Capaldi, giving it everything he has and more. This is a man who knows how to use his entire body to convey thought and emotion...rapturous one moment, his mouth open wide in pure euphoria and wonderment. The next moment, despotic and domineering, every muscle in his neck and torso stretched taut, as if he himself will break while trying to break others.

A dark, utterly visceral experience that will stay with you. My only lament is that it's not longer.

Oh Joe, Joe, where did your brain go?

This movie was HORRIBLE! I went into it with mixed expectations, mainly stemming from my feelings that without the character of Marcus Cole, a movie about the Rangers wouldn't be too much worth watching. However, seeing as how wonderful Babylon 5 was, I gave JMS the benefit of the doubt.....and paid this price with this two-hour mishmash!

I'll start with the good stuff first-Andreas Katsulas could read the directions off the back of a shampoo bottle and we could still be mesmerized, the man is brilliant. He had all the best lines in the movie, and as always was superb.

As for the rest of the movie, nay, nay, again I say NAY! The plot was dumb, the cast wasn't exactly very good, and even the CGI was a disappointment. Given that the show was about Rangers, you'd think they would've been shown flying the White Stars. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the capital ship of the Ranger fleet? And what is with that stupid weapons system aboard the Liandra?

I think a better premise for this movie would've have come from the book "To Dream In the City of Sorrows", in which Sinclair first becomes the head of the Rangers. Then we at least would've been familiar with the characters.

I was disappointed with almost every aspect of this movie. Joe had been a fantastic writer during the 5-year run of B5, but I've read fanfiction that shows better plot and coherence than this mess.

I give this one a 3/10, the 3 only coming from Andreas appearing in it.

Great movie w/great actors
26 October 2002
I saw this movie when it first appeared in theaters and I have been mesmerised by it since then. Ralph Fiennes is such a versatile actor, and what he brought to the role of Lenny Nero probably couldn't have been done better by anyone else. The storyline is a bit frightening when you think about it...how far off are we from actually gaining this sort of technology? The only sore point was Juliette Lewis, who I definitely would not have thrown into the mix with such an impressive cast.

Fantastic in every aspect

Wow....that about sums it up. Is there anything wrong with this film at all? Everything just falls into place so perfectly, and the casting could not have been more inspired. Of course, I do wish there was a spot in there for the completely underused yet wonderfully talented British actor Jason Carter, who would've made a stunning Aragorn, but Viggo Mortensen is great in the role too. Elijah Wood has grown tremendously as an actor over the years, and I can't wait to see what else is on store for us as the story continues on the big screen.

Forget sci-fi, this was the best show ever!
11 January 2002
I would go to say that this show was almost flawless in every detail, from the writing to the acting to the execution and characterizations. I loved the fact that there was no "alien of the week"-type scenario that seems to mess up all other sci-fi shows. To me, it was more a drama, because even though it was set in space in the future, the show was about people interacting with other people (or aliens!) I would have loved to have seen the show continue after it's final season, but as it is, it is the closest thing to perfection ever broadcast.
