Rick and Morty: Final DeSmithation (2022)
Damn this is funny. Season 6 continues to excel.
This episode is the creative ideas I want from the show. A great play on the themes of "Final Destination" the teen horror series from the 2000's, also a classic Rick and Jerry episode, where the mishaps and strides of luck shape the story's humor. Twists of fate are blown to Hilarious proportion, with Rick once again sharing a slight bit of heart towards Jerry. It's an tricky balance to not have Rick care too much for Jerry, but strangely the writers find a way everytime to reset their dynamic, everytime an episode about them occurs. The concept of the episode plays around with prventing atrocitiesfrom happening, and controlling fate to your own benefits. A similar idea to "Final Destination" itself. However in those films Death was in control. With the humor intact, and Ricks sheer moments of heart. Rick not only smartly figures out a way to control Jerry and see if what happens to him happens, but also re-shapes the fabric of fate within the universe. All seen through fortune cookies of course. Which is the level of small stupidity I like from this show. Bring an mundane idea to its maximum scenario. The episode proves that Jerry and Rick lead to great ideas. Even if this episode is a little too crazy, and has a lot of action. It still maintains the quality of what the show is about, finding creative jokes to up the anty and character dynamics. If this is the future of Rick and Morty we need this. It's balsy and crude, and filled with tons of detail.
Rick and Morty: Night Family (2022)
A different change in pace for the series.
Season 6 is changing the formula for the series. Well atleast doing something different that we haven't seen in a while. It seems we are finally letting these characters sit with eachother, and deal with one another. Without the use of Portal Guns, everything seems grounded without loosing that Sci fi fantastical aspect of the show. Without the hienseight of the next episodes, I don't know what it's building too. But this episode throws back to earlier episodes in the series. Using the characters themselves to explore a different aspect of them. With a concept that utilizes the characters to a maximum effort. This episode primarily focusing on the family's laziness, and unwilling to communicate with one another. With the idea that only their built up emotions when manifested, allows them to actually be a functioning family. Is just the right kind of sitcom relatable science fiction, that made this show very funny and fitting within the sitcom formula. It might not be groundbreaking, but it's clear the creators are having more focus on the family this year. Unlike Season 5 kindove not contrasting its family dynamics with core ideas that well, this steady progression of episodes feels organic, and leaves room for bizarre creativity. When this show does it right, they knock it out of the park. Not to mention its style of progressing stakes. Well it keeps the characters contained in their environment, seeing all the different levels Rick's pettyness goes through to take control of the situation, was very funny and stays true to his character. All in the end yeilding to the night family, and once again proving to the audience he isn't the most dominant in the status quo. It might be a simple story that uses traditional narrative structures, it feels right at place in this new season for whatever also comes next.
Don't Hug Me I'm Scared (2022)
If you love the twilight Zone. This will be for you.
Much like entering another dimension. All your senses correlate to an abstract portrait, of unfathomable mystery. One of sight and sound. This show is as bizarre as it gets. Based off the YouTube web series. Don't Hug me im scared is a puzzle box that's almost impossible to portray as one thing. Entering this richly layered world, getting to know it's characters with distinctive chemistry, and it's trippy aray of colors. Seeing the Darkly complex themes that blur reality and dreams together. The experience is sure to be overwhelming, and will leave you wanting a re watch. It's a well thought out visual narrative, that doesn't lerk around for preaching, if not to challenge your mind. Who knows what you will think of it, so much happens within so much time. But you won't forget your viewing of this show anytime soon. Much like what the characters experience, it's all so sweet and candy colored with just a touch of bleakness. So suspicious and off-putting. You will be questioning everything you watch, or see within your reality. The hype is real for this. All fans of the original show are in for an treat. While there are some similar themes at work here, even if some are hard to grasp. It's clear the creators need to reflourish their core concepts for Television broadcasting. Bring in new ideas and pay homage to its original source material. Never loosing touch of that crazy, ear peiricng bass drop in every episode. If you seen it all. You know what I'm talking about. It's impressive to see a show about puppets build tension so expertly, that even if it feels choreographed. Nothing can prepare you for its shocking spurts of disturbing imagery. It's that rare time when u laugh at something so scary, due to nervousness. Or maybe you are scared cus all the nervous laughing stops. Now we have a show that relishes itself, and takes its time to tell a story. Yes one with puppets. But prepare yourself for entering a dimension of
expressive Madness and giddy laughs.
Rick and Morty: Bethic Twinstinct (2022)
This Episode is Crazy. And beyond strange in the shows cannon.
Rick and Morty is letting its characters simmer this season. For once everyone has to deal with eachother, without walking out on their differences. This episode is taking that concept too far. But it works very well. Beth, for the most part feels very 3 dimensional. As very few characters are there to reflect off of her. Or for simpler purposes influence her character, to contradict her decisions. Apparently only another Beth is able to do that. Clone Beth. What proceeds in this episode, while everyone is preoccupied is quite shocking. It's a Romantic episode, that's on a human level. Something the show hasn't quite gone into before. Mostly the tenderness between two people. Beth is facing something new and deep that's inside her. And it takes her own self to realize it. The episode plays it also for comedic effect. While it is a drastic change for her character. For the next episodes its possible it will have no bearing on her as a character. But with Season 6 taking its time to sit on the Family more than it ever has, anything is possible. It's a simple little Beth story that's part sexual awakening, exploitave kinkiness with just the right amount of tongue and cheek. But in reality maybe it's not meant to mean anything big, but just an inside joke to the Smith family. Whatever the case it's cannon.
Better Call Saul: Plan and Execution (2022)
Season 6: Episodes 1-7.
The Deliberately stretched pace, is clearly Vince Gilligan's creative choice. By Episode 7, I felt exactly what he wanted me to feel. We are supposed to feel the maticulated plotting, and calculated schemes from Jimmy and Kim. As if overtime we too ask "Why?", was it worth it?. Its expert practice in manipulation, never fails. All the emotion building up, quite possibly leads to the biggest bait and switch of the series. Where we finally question our main protagonists, bringing the right amount of guilt and shame that has been lingering throughout the series. Maybe Gilligan is forcing us to ask, if we play a part in Jimmy Mcgill becoming "Saul Goodman. Are we just as twisted in the head as him?, or do we entertain so easily Watching someone rise to such..infamy. All I can say is "I never felt so icky rooting for Jimmy and Kim" till now.
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009)
It almost works as a dumb Guilty Pleasure.
This Film's problem is, the dumb action scenes are filled with boring characters, almost annoying actually. Also the villain is ass. I expect it to be cheesy, but if I'm annoyed throughout it doesn't get a pass.
The Fourth Kind (2009)
Alien Horror is a dying Genre. Here is why.
The Films Novelty is confusing. Both Segments aren't real, but one is creepier than the other. What is the point of the Hollywoodized Casting for one of them. It's like the film wants to show off its gimmick twice to the audience. Lol.
