From Scratch (2022)
Not what I was expecting, but beautifully done
I don't want to post any spoilers, but I wonder what's with all the people giving it poor ratings for only bother to watch one or two episodes.
Like I said, it wasn't what I expected, but it was really beautifully done. It had me crying my way through it.
Beautifully done I suggest watching it for yourself and bring a box of Kleenex with you when you do. The only spoiler I can provide is that if you're expecting Emily in Paris, this is not it. And yes, there is a noticeable age difference between the two lead characters, but doesn't really matter in the stage? Would anybody say anything if it were an older man and a younger woman?
Senior Year (2022)
Lots of fun
Is it the best movie you'll ever see? Well no of course not. Is there an awesome plot? Nope. But is it lots of fun and does it make you smile at the end? Yup. Definitely. Rebel Wilson is a hoot and light up the screen. And sometimes that's all you can really ask for!
Virgin River (2019)
A gentle drama in a time when we need it
I've really enjoyed watching this series. So often I had it in my head that I knew it was going to happen but that was based on what I had seen in other shows where people just live to gossip and hurt each other. But for the most part that's not what the series is about, it's about healing and people actually speaking to each other about how they feel instead of causing unnecessary drama. I really like most of the characters. Except for Charmaine. She is the worst. So freaking annoying.
Don't Make Me Go (2022)
Beautiful movie with unnecessary full frontal nudity
Don't get me wrong, I have no issues with nudity or sex in movies. It's much better than the violence we see in most movies. But it's preventing me from recommending it to a young person that I think would really appreciate it.
I watched mostiy because of John Cho and I'm glad I did.
The Chef Show (2019)
So much fun, and informative as well!
As a home chef, I always appreciate a cooking show that is not only informative, but also a lot of fun. Every episode I take away something that I could use in my home kitchen, whether it's better understanding the cuts of beef or how to make juicy fried chicken.
Jon Favreau maybe a movie star and producer but no doubt about it, Roy is the boss in the kitchen!
H2O: The Molecule That Made Us (2020)
Interesting topic but the narrator is terrible
This was hard to listen to with such a terrible narrator. Luckily it's an important topic and an important topic.
Water is such an important topic and this series shows this from many angles.
Still - I wish they'd chosen a narrator that was less grating to listen to.
NCIS: Hawai'i (2021)
Vanessa Lachey shines in this role
I was genuinely surprised to read the bad reviews of this show! It's the only NCIS we actually watch! So what if it smacks of Hawaii 5Oh? It's still great fun!
I think Vanessa Lachey was really well cast for this role. The folks complaining that she's not even Hawaiian are missing the point.
The Dropout (2022)
Amanda Seyfried killed it in this role
Watching a documentary on it and I can see just how good Amanda Seyfried was in that role. The voice, the mannerisms everything.
I wish there was more of what happened after the fact but the series was really well done.
Our Great National Parks (2022)
Deceptive tutor
Although I found Mr Obama's voice relaxing and calm, I felt a bit cheated because this show was less about the parks and more about the critters there in.
We've all seen the shows about all the critters so it would have been nice to see more of the parks themselves.
Still, it was enjoyable enough.
Sweet Magnolias (2020)
A enjoyable watch!
I loved season 1 and season 2 was even better. My only gripe would be WHY IS DANA SUE so crabby all the time! But other than that I love the characters and the relationships between the characters. Like I said Season 2 has even better and there better be a Season 3!!
