Brews Brothers (2020)
If you use Belgium references: be correct
Ok so the humor is what I would call a pipi-caca humor . It's not my thing but I still wanted to give the show a chance, but I'm just not into the juvenile humor that is used in this serie. So that was not a good start, but still would have given it a 5 or 6 as 'not-good-but-bearable'
When the Belgian Monks from Maasmechelen came,I was actually excited. Our proud beer culture would be shared with the broad audience.... and then they spoke German, honestly that was the limit for me.
We have indeed the east kantons where German is spoken and Maasmechelen dialect uses ich und mich... but it's in Limburg so in the Flemish part. They should have spoken DUTCH (of Flemish to be correct).
As proud belgian, I cannot let this error pass and grant them a score that would be average.
If you know Maasmechelen (which i already found surprising), why did you make it German? There are sufficient German speaking towns you could have used 🙈
Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker (2020)
enjoyed the series, but did not know the real story
In Europe the story of Madam C.J. Walker is not really known (or at least I never heard of her before watching the trailer for this new series).
So I looked at it as a person not familiar with real story of the life of Madam C.J. Walker.
Enjoyed the acting, enjoyed the story. I would probably have added one more episode for closure.
After watching I started reading up on the real life of Madam CJ Walker and found that there were some discrepancies and exaggerations in the story.
Ok title says 'inspired by' so they can be a bit 'creative', but that's a pity when it's more a biographical story.
Undercover (2019)
binge watch worthy story
Did not expect it, but I really loved this serie.
Seemed not able to stop as I was really pulled into the story.
Good acting, good story/scenario.
Personally would have changed a bit last episode, but I'll leave it up to you to find out if you agree with that ;-)
Modo Avião (2020)
as empty as an influencers real life
Cliché story, cliché acting, no imagination in the scenario (predictable from beginning to end).
This is an empty shell with a nice poster... a bit like a real life influencer ;-).
I'm sure I lost some braincells while watching.
If you are older than 12, just do not watch this ;-)
The Flash (2014)
Flash on point
I must be honest, I like the flash. I like all characters and the recurrent storyline (which you often have with hero series), does not bother me so much.
I'm not a big fan of the crossover episodes and they lost me a bit on the several earths, but still manage to enjoy watching the the show.
Arrow (2012)
Time to retire
Some series are just too long for their own good and Arrow is one of those.
It starts out good, but then you get tired of the lame one liners, the same plot over and over and over... come on the guy just has an arrow. Then I do not even mention the crossover episodes where you need to see flash, super girl and legends of tomorrow and arrow to have the full picture.
Let's be honest, just adding seasons cuts into the quality of the storyline and honestly i'm starting to rue for the bad guys, hoping one will kill Oliver soon.
Alexander (2004)
to much is 'trop', as the French would say
OK Alexander was gay... everybody was gay in these times... but he did much more than just fight and love boys (and some girls). Why didn't they mention his library, schools and so much more. The movie really left me unsatisfied! This might just be the kind of movies that will give todays youth a wrong idea of history.
OK there was much aspect for the psychology of Alexander and the reasons that have driven him to act in certain ways. But still, for a movie that long, they might have mentioned the other aspects of the 'heroes' life.
The acting wasn't bad. Even OK. But I must admit that i had expected more from the director. Oliver Stone brought us masterpieces, but Alexander is a mistake that we must forget and forgive. Maybe the cast, legend and director, raised the expectations so high that the movie can't realize. Anyway, making a movie about an historic figure that is so well known as Alexander is always a risky business. Better luck next time!
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Loved it, loved orlando bloom, can't wait for the next part
The release of the year!!! If you haven't seen it yet, hurry to your theatre!!! Peter Jackson did a wonderfull work by filming the Tolkien classic.
He didn't copy the whole book, but made a good version of it. Elijah Wood is great as frodo. But my heart was beating a bit more for Orlando Bloom. I just loved the guy. I can't wait for the second part. See ya Charlotte
