The Little Vampire (2000)
A lovely movie for children
I loved this movie. I'm a sucker for movies that remind me of my younger years, and this is definitely one of them (well, seeing as it's made for kids, that's hardly surprising). The plot was good, the bad guy wasn't scary enough to give younger kids nightmares, but unlikable enough for the slightly older children not the care that he ISN'T too frightening. Wonderful costumes too.
Did anyone notice the last name of the Vampires? Sackville-Bagg? It's freakishly close to that of the Sackville-Bagginses from Lord of the Rings...
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
An excellent adaptation
Being an avid Tolkien fan despite my young age (15), I had some forebodings previous to the movie's release. I was excited, but since previous attempts at Lord of the Rings failed so badly, I still had doubts in my mind that this was the one. Also, before to the movie, I decided to separate the movie from the book in my mind so I wouldn't hate the movie if it wasn't EXACTLY like the book (it would be terribly long if it was...) After I saw the movie, I have to say I was glad I wasn't terribly disappointed. The movie was AMAZING. It will never be as good as the book (movies of books never are) but it was just fantastic. I noted the parts that were cut out, or changed (i.e. Tom Bombadil, the reasons Legolas, Gimli and Boromir came to Rivendell, Arwen taking over Glorfindel's part) and I quoted lines I remembered that weren't there (i.e. when they found Frodo was wearing mithril after being speared, this went through my head: "Here's a pretty hobbit skin to wrap an elven princeling in!") But, all in all, the movie was quite good...
