Justice League Dark: Apokolips War (2020)
This sucks
I don't know where to even start. This film just is bad. Animation is just not good for anything in 2020 and many of the big scenes just looked stupid. Most of the prior dcau movies looked much better. Also what even was the plot. Batman the man who always has plans and never does anything stupid agrees to do one of the dumbest plans I have seen to take down someone who can conquer Earth. The main characters have a ton of plot armor while every other dc character just gets killed because why not. Let's make everyone die. That's just great. It's a shame because they only appear for 5 seconds too. Man what a great way to end their character. The plot is filled with holes and this film is simply awful. There is 0 reason to watch this since it's own film retconned it.
American Psycho (2000)
I do not know how to feel about this film
American Psycho is a film that I believe everyone has at least heard of. With its cast full of well known actors and its countless memes, this film has definitely remained popular 21 years later. As I watched it, I realized it was not at all what I expected. I expected a funny horror slasher that had some good moments in it. It turned out to be a film going into a mind of someone who is a psychopath trying to live in a normal higher-up society. I found Patrick Bateman to be a weird but interesting main character. The way he imagined his killing to make it so he thought he did what he imagined was very compelling. The world around him was good and it drew me into the world. I found that the acting was all around good and the shots of him in many scenes were always unique. Though as much as I enjoy this film, it had plenty of flaws. There were moments were it came off as just gross and I feel as the ending was a let down for me. I would have preferred a more set explanation then a up to your interpterion ending. Some scenes I felt had lackluster acting and camera shots.
I think this film is a flawed masterpiece and would recommend this film to someone looking for a more thought provoking movie. Definitely worth the watch. 8/10.
Batman: Under the Red Hood (2010)
Nothing gets better than Red Hood.
Red Hood has always been one of my favorite villains since he appeared in this movie. He is electric with great writing to back him up. I loved how as a character he became one of the highlights of Gotham. He is the perfect counter to how Batman handles the city around him and I adore that. He is the spotlight of this film but past that it's just average? Night wing was fun to have but ultimately felt pointless in the grand scheme of things. Especially since he defintely should have played a much bigger role in this. The animation is solid for its time and the soundtrack was alright. I had always heard this film was amazing and the best but it turned out to just be a good one. I would recommend this to any super hero fan just because of Red Hood but I don't feel like this movie did much more than that. I know it's the main focus point of the film but I like to have a bit more substance than just one character being all that made it good. Would have liked to see Nightwing actually talk to him or even Alfred. 7.5/10.
The Truman Show (1998)
Wow
I have always heard of this film. People always said it was good or they weren't a big fan of it. It seemed just to be a good film at the most. But man was I wrong. This film was wonderful. The two most important things for me in movies is being good at what your trying to be and having a fantastic ending. I think this movie is exactly how I would imagine a story about this taking place. The cinematography and how some of the interviews take place made it very interesting and added more depth to the the world beyond Truman. And with endings, I need a good one. It's the last thing you have so I feel as though it's one of the most important things for a movie. A bad ending can spoil a good film. But this ending didn't disappoint. It was exactly what I wanted and his final line was fantastic. There are a few small niche flaws I have but I don't mind them. This film was fantastic and everyone needs to see it at least once. 10/10.
Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
A fun time that is a step down
The recent Spider-man trilogy in my eyes is the best one. This movie is just fun. Actors do a good job and the story is full of fun moments. CGI at times looked mediocre but ultimately was very good. I love to see more of the MJ and Peter connection and them together. Sad to see less Ned in this film. The jokes were often on point and It made me laugh more often then most Marvel films. There is one big problem with this film though. The biggest problem of the first was him staying in Iron Man's shadow and it being a duo movie. The end of homecoming and Iron Man's death gave him the opportunity to grow and be his own. This doesn't change at all in this film. We see a villain who is a villain only because of Tony Stark and is not correlated to spider-man. Mysterio just does not feel like he is Spider-man's villain. The movie mentions Iron Man consistently and focuses on him a ton. Except for the relationship with MJ, nothing seems to move forwards. The movie is fun no doubt and definitely a enjoyable time but do not go into this movie expecting a step forward in the spider man saga like spider-man 2 was. 7/10.
Doragon Bôru Sûpâ Burorî (2018)
Man does it look cool.
When I think about Dragon Ball, I think of the amazing fights and action throughout the story. Man does this film deliver. The film looks incredible and the bright colors pop a ton. Broly is a cool villain and Its a fresh take on the character. I love how this is the first cannon movie and we will see more on Broly in the future. Unfortunately though, the movie has some pacing issues and the story is very lackluster. Definitely a fun experience and a must watch for Dragon Ball fans.
Doragon Bôru Zetto Zetsubô e no Hankô!! Nokosareta Chô-Senshi Gohan to Torankusu (1993)
A great OVA to explain Future Trunks
The ova while nothing crazy but helped explain who future trunks was. I enjoyed seeing how characters like Gohan and Bulma would have reacted in this situation. The ova helps create future trunks into a well though-out and likable character. I enjoyed the animation while it was nothing spectacular, for a 1993 episode it still holds up quite well. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys dragon ball or even if you have only seen some. This definitely a good Ova that explains everything 40 minutes. Also Future Gohan is the coolest mf there is. 7.5/10.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
A Pleasant Suprise.
D. C. has been struggling with live action films for a while now. But its starting to seem like they are getting their stuff together. The first suicide squad was poor and struggled to be a good film. Characters were boring or lacked any good moments. The second one is the first one done right. They take it far less serious which helps a ton.
Characters were a big step up from the last movie. I adored Bloodsport, Ratcatcher, Harley Quinn, Peacemaker and so many others. The cast was fun and a good time. The villain was a weird one and not particular great but it was fun enough to not hurt the movie much. The plot was fun and I enjoyed how it set up some future story lines such as the Peacemaker. The stakes were always high which always kept you paying attention. The movie is fast and uses that to its complete advantage. The humor was good and the visuals were stellar as always from a D. C. film. I would recommend this film to anyone who enjoys a fun, blood filled experience that is definitely something you should not miss out on. A Solid 8.3/10.
The Batman (2022)
A Perfect Batman Movie
The Batman is the ideal Batman movie that no other has been able to do quite as well. The movie takes itself very seriously and does it very well. Incredible casting with each person bringing their character to life. Pattinson killed it as batman and really made the character shine. I definitely think he will be the best batman if they give him another movie or two. I am definitely excited to see what they will do with his character during the next movie. The Riddler is a great change of pace from recent super villains and movie adaptations of the Riddler. He is sick, demented person with good motivation behind him. He is the perfect villain for the story and the fact his plan won was a great moment for the story. Gordon, Penquin and Catwoman were all fantastic as well. My favorite aspect of the film definitely had to be the detective stuff in the film. The movie focused more on the characters solving the puzzle and I enjoyed that the most. Instead of having a super strong super villain at the end, it was a genius who succeeded. This film has some minor issues though. It seems to end then doesn't mutiple times in the end and I wished we saw a bit more Alfred. Defintely a must watch and the best Batman Movie. 9.6/10.
