Way off the target
17 July 2022
Poor story line, Weak in the sense that it feels that it has no bearing in Ip man story line whatso ever. There are Way Toooooo many historic inaccuracies in this film. Way tooo many film cuts during the fights scenes as well. Some of the acting was horrible, especially from the so called "Foreigners". This film is only good if you need to put something up on the TV to get some sleep.

just Horrible.....

Obvious Unrealistic fighting, poor acting, bad script writing. Confusing at times. No real plot line. Thailand's attempt to brag that their martial art is better than Japan's. First time director???

Cheesy

A reminder of how the early Chinese films were back in the 60's and 70's. I wasn't expecting to come from a movie made in 1996 though.... I guess every actor has their fair share of BAD movies..

Straight on action without any simple explanation as to who the characters are. Its as if your expected to know who they are already and know their backstory. No connection between scenes. Utter non sense. Good actors, HORRIBLE Writing and Direction.

Toooo close of the same scenario.

Does "Olympus Has Fallen" sound familiar? I don't know who was trying to copy whom? but having the two released so close together was pretty damn idiotic! example of the executives at Columbia Pictures of not caring and just trying to make money without truly thinking!! did they even try this on a test group? I know they knew when "Olympus has Fallen" was coming out. Was it even a possibility of even trying to have it out next year? Both movies are just for sheer action and it doesn't make you forget that you live in the real world. After watching the History Channel, the Discovery Channel and other documentaries on the White House, the Secret Service, the NSA, 9/11, Post 9/11 and the fact that I have been to Washington D.C. and have visited the White House and seen ALL the security that was visible to the public. According to all documentaries there are a lot of hidden securities as well. Making their movie implausible if not improbable. I actually had a better time watching "Independence Day". I guess the executives at Columbia Pictures view the majority of the public as ignorant and stupid. I think they were aiming at the "Jerry Springer" population. I truly think this was a waste of money. Did Jamie Fox and Tatum Chaning know of "Olympus has Fallen"? do you think they would have did the movie had they had known of the other? If they did know of the other movie then thats a bad mark for their film career. I hope they don't keep making bad movie decisions like that or else they'll fall into the M. Night Shyamalan category.

Times change & sometimes, change is for the better.
10 December 2003
I was 11 yld when the original series came out. I thought it was a cool Sci-fi show. When I saw the previews for Battlestar Galactica (mini 2003) I was rather anxious to see it. When I saw it , liked it & enjoyed it. Most TV shows and movies, no mater what the genre represents the thinking, ideas, humor & sociology of the time the show or shows are made. "Starbuck","Boomer" & the President of the 12 colonies-Females?Thats seems to be the norm nowadays, does'nt it? I remember one episode on the original series about male pilots having concerns about female fighter pilots on the Glactica. at the same time in 1978, females were fighting to become real fighter pilots. During the 80s, does anyone remember the "TAIL HOOK SCANDAL" in Las Vegas?

And now especially since we consider our selfs to be in the 21st century there are quite a few female flying sorties over Kosovo, Korea and especially in Iraq & Afganistan. I have a hint for you hardcore "original" Battlestar Galactica fans. YOUR GETTING OLD!! your sounding like a bunch of old farts saying like; "When I was your age..." never open minded, unwilling to accept change & always living in the past and never looking to what the possibilities of the future might be. In regards to remakes, BG is not the only TV show or movie to be redone. here are a few examples: Ben Hur-1907,1925,1959; Beau Gest-1926,1939,1966,1977,1983; Four Feathers-1915,1921,1929,1939,1977,2002; Buck Rogers(movie)-1939,1977; Buck Rogers(TV)-1950,1979; SWAT-1975,2003; Leave it to Beaver-1957,1997; Dune-198?, 2002; Romeo & Juliet (and all its incarnations)I can go on but think you get the gist. Like Ben Hur, a vast majority of people enjoy watching the 1959 version while only a small minority would actually like the 1907 version. The 1959 version would be more up to date until some movie exec decides to redo that movie. to the hard core fans; why don't you take two groups of people. In the first group the ages should be between 10 and 25. In the second group the ages should be 26 to say 45. have both groups watch both shows and get a poll. I'm pretty sure that the younger group will go for the new show as opposed the older group which might be split as to which they like. overall its a great show and I hope to see more of it.

So get over it and move on. Don't worry Bell bottoms and high platform shoes should making their way back!

Door to Door (2002 TV Movie)
what a Disappointment!!!!
15 July 2002
What a disappointment!!!! This movie should have NEVER been shown on TV whatso ever! SHAME ON YOU!!

The producers, writers, director and anybody else involved with this TV movie should be punished!

This story should have been made into a full movie! That way William Macy would have been guaranteed an Oscar, along with everybody else involved with this film.

(...and you probably thought that I was going to say something bad about the movie! HAHA gotcha)

European Dislike
29 April 2002
I seem to notice that MOST of the bad comments made about this movie are from "Foreigners" who have no idea WHY this movie was made. WHY:The book was written in 1993 by Lt Gen. Hal Moore & Joe Galloway. to describe the events on what happened in forgotten battlefield in Vietnam, which lasted three days. It book tells about the men of the 1st air cavalry and their first encounter with the North Vietnamese Army both historicaly and personally. It had nothing to do with "whys" and the "hows" of why the Vietnam war started just the men of of both sides of that particular battle and the effects of what happened on the home front. The movie just depicts what was written. To the Europeans who think this nothing but flag waving; "Rourke's Drift","Battle of Dunkirk","Battle of Britain","Waterloo","Bridge on the river Kwai","Sergent X","A bridge too far","Tumbledown moutain" and more recently "Braveheart","Horatio Horn Blower"(this I know is largely fictitious but does refer to many actual battles between England,France & Spain) and "Bravo Two Zero" and many more to mention. All these depicts battles involving countries other than the "AMERICANS". All these started out as either footnotes in history, which would have been forgotten, or somebody decided to write a book about it. When someone read the book,or the history note he/she/they decided to make a movie of it. When someone in your country decides to make a war movie. let me know so I can comment on it. And I will be fair. If it was from a book of an actual battle then I'll take that into consideration. FACT: WAR movies involve death ,dying, decapitation, dismemberment, dispair, killing, rape, murder and all the other "CLICHES" you all hate (that actual goes on in a war,see "SAVIOR" with Dennis Quad or "Nanking"). If you hate war movies and you know its a war movie then DON'T SEE IT! that goes for everybody who thought this movie sucked!

as faithful as it can get!
14 January 2002
This was one of the most intense war movies to date. Having read the book and then seeing the movie you find that Jerry Bruckhiemer has done alot with this this movie. Considering that the movie is 148 minutes long, its relativly short from the book point of view. Yes there were scenes that were'nt filmed or shown, probaly due to length but for those of you who have never read the book. The movie gives you a short detailed account of what happened on Oct. 3 & 4, 1993 in Mogadishu, Somalia.

Knowing that all the actors had to go through actual RANGER training and DELTA training gives this movie alot more realism to it. All the hand gestures, uniforms & equipment used were also standard military issue and directly from the Army training manuals. Attention to detail is what makes this movie rocks!

When this movie comes out on DVD, after the smoke clears, GET IT! I'm sure they'll put alot of extras, hopefully with a directors cut edition.

STOP READING BETWEEN THE LINES!
8 January 2002
To those of you who gave a bad review to the Film. I have one question to you. DID YOU READ THE BOOK?!(Especially "HEADLANDS") Because apparently you did not. This is strictly a story. I don't know if you remember or ever saw the dead bodies of 4 U.S. servicemen being dragged around the streets of Mogadishu, nude, being spit on, being knifed and beaten. This was shown on all TV news stations around the world at that time in October of 1993. All the Somalies rejoicing and "praising Allah". If you don't remember this then you need to get out from under the rock you live under and watch the news more often. As a member of the military myself I was outraged and angered of what they (the Somalies) were doing to the bodies of these fallen soldiers. Then I began to ask "what happened?".

When The book came out It answered alot of questions and the movie depicts that. It shows how a simple mission got totally screwed up and cost the lives of 19 American soldiers.

The U.S. Government in a rare form of cooperation with the film makers agreed to work with them. Especially in a movie where a debacle and US defeat is shown. Past requests for Govenment cooperation was rejected due to any negative depiction of the military. In an unusual move the government did participate and placed all the actors through actual intense RANGER and DELTA training at Fort Benning, Georga. The thought being, if you're going to do it then do it RIGHT.

Don't look for a message. Stop reading between the lines. This is a movie,a story of the events of what happened on October 3rd & 4th and how they died and survived. This is thier story. Period. If your looking for a movie with a meaning behind it I suggest that you watch "Monsters Inc."
