Sanctified (2022)
A really good Western!
This western is actually much better than its below-average rating makes it seem at first glance. It's not your typical western with cowboys, Indians, soldiers, bandits and sheriffs. But it is a western that has enough action, even if it develops slowly. But the special thing about this western is that it carries a good message. Because it shows that through the good example of a nun, even a selfish bandit can change into a good person. Because this nun doesn't talk empty religious stuff, she lives her faith and is prepared to sacrifice herself for it. And that makes the bandit become altruistic and do good things too.
Based on the previous reviews, I wasn't expecting such a good film. But I watched the whole film with joy and great interest.
Will Trent (2023)
It's a sham
The first episode of the series starts out reasonably interesting. It doesn't seem to be the usual police series, but somehow different because of the quirks of the main character. But with every further episode it goes downhill and ends up in the well-known mainstream of these crime series. Instead of making the slight madness of the main actor the trademark of the series, it's almost exclusively about typical criminal cases like in other series, relationship problems and political correctness, also in the casting of the other roles. The series is not worth watching. It's a sham! There are other comparable series that offer more variety.
Joe Pickett (2021)
Excellent!
"Joe Pickett" is an excellent series! Very good script, very good acting, believable performance without too much artificial drama, very good directing and a very nice scenery. Some might criticize that the pace at which the story develops is slow. But this criticism is unfounded. The story takes place in a small town surrounded by nature. Life runs more smoothly there, everything develops more slowly. It's very pleasant that the series doesn't follow the political correctness that has unfortunately become common in the meantime and, contrary to the actual composition of the rural population, forces racial quotas into the series that have nothing to do with reality. I hope there is a second season and I'm looking forward to it.
The Tourist (2022)
Great miniseries!
A very good series! An exciting and well constructed story, well drawn characters, good actors, good directing and an intriguing landscape. It's a shame it's just a miniseries with no sequel.
Queens of Mystery (2019)
Entertaining!
It's a lovable British crime series. The actors are good, as is the direction. The individual crime stories are well written so that you have enough to puzzle over. But the best part is that the series also has its funny moments, quintessentially English humor, and doesn't take itself too seriously. That makes them much more entertaining than all the crime series that take themselves extremely seriously and see - contrary to reality - personal and social problems everywhere.
Crime (2021)
Misleading!
The title "Crime" suggests that this is about crime solving. But that is not true. Solving the crimes in this series has only marginal significance. In reality, it's about the main character's psychological struggle with a traumatic experience in his childhood. And to be honest, that's not interesting, even if the acting is good to very good. And why does almost every inspector in this type of series have more problems with himself than with the criminal cases he is supposed to solve. In the long run, this seems tiring and boring and has little to do with reality. There are far better series with similar topics.
The Witcher (2019)
Very good!
A great, imaginative story. Good acting, good direction, gripping narration. Not only is an impressive landscape built into the story, the buildings and settlements are also designed with a lot of creative imagination. It is a pleasure to follow this series and see the creative efforts that have gone into it.
To Catch a Spy (2021)
Awful!
A really bad film, bad acting, bad directing, a story so simple and primitive that it was written for children up to 5 years of age. The only interesting thing about the film is Malta.
