Amsterdam (2022)
BIZARRE, BUT ENTERTAINING
This movie was in my opinion was bizarre, but very entertaining. I enjoyed it. I originally went in thinking it was going to be kind of like "Clue", where you had to guess who the killer was. Like who, what, where, when and why, but I was wrong. While watching I did think certain characters could be suspicious. Still enjoying even thought it ended up not being the type of movie I thought it was. All the acting was phenomenal. Christian Bale's facial expressions throughout the movie was classic. I definitely laughed a few times at his facial expressions alone. I was pretty bummed Taylor Swift wasn't in the movie long. I definitely think her character needed more scenes to tie the story together a little bit better. The story did jump around a few times and I felt like there was missing pieces to tie the story together better. It's one of those movies where I will definitely watch it again so I can catch things I might of not noticed the first time around. I highly recommend giving this movie a try at least once. It is entertaining.
Mr. Malcolm's List (2022)
Delightful
Mr. Malcom's List was delightful. I read the book in one day and the movie met my expectations. It was as fabulous as the book. The plot draws you in and holds your attention throughout the film. The performances from the actors were spectacular. Actor Theo James definitely didn't disappoint in this film. Especially the scene where his character Captain Henry, met Miss Covington and breaks out laughing. That scene had me laughing out loud in the theater. The score done by Amelia Warner is brilliant. It's so breath taking and beautiful. The music tired the scenes together wonderfully and fit perfectly with the scenes. This film is put together really well and the score adds a beautiful touch. I highly recommend watching this movie, reading the book and listening to the movie score.
X (2022)
Different with a twist
I wouldn't call X a horror film because in my opinion it wasn't scary at all. To me it's more of a gory suspense film with nudity and ends with a twist. All the acting was superb especially by Martin Henderson and Brittany Snow. I highly recommend giving this film a try. It's very entertaining.
Brazen (2022)
Enjoyable
"Brazen" is based off a book by Nora Roberts titled "Brazen Virtue". I always recommend to people if they're going to watch a film based off a book to read the book first. So, if you haven't yet read "Brazen Virtue" I highly suggest you do so. Like any movie based off a book there was a few changes to fit a movie time frame. There were moments when I felt the film was being rushed, like they left out a few key points. However, that didn't effect the film at all. The acting by Alyssa Milano (Grace) and Samuel Page (Ed) was really good. I thought they portrayed their characters really well. I also thought Malachi Weir (Ben) did a fabulous job. The only part I thought was cringe worthy was Grace's outfit in the end. To me, it looked super tight and uncomfortable, like Grace (Alyssa) could barely move in it. I thought the movie was enjoyable and entertaining. The book is definitely better, but the movie wasn't bad.
The Nine Kittens of Christmas (2021)
Purrfect movie for any cat lover.
I was so ecstatic when I found out there was going to be a sequel to one of my all time favorite Hallmark movies "The Nine Lives Of Christmas". Let me tell you.. "The Nine Kittens Of Christmas" did not disappoint. First off, I'm so happy the original leading cast, Brandon Routh, Kimberley Sustad, and Gregory Harrison came back to reprise their roles as Zachary, Marilee and Chief Sam. Also Trace came back the cat who played Ambrose. This is a heartfelt movie that tugs at your heart especially if you're a cat lover. The nine kittens that were in this movie were all adopted into loving homes by the crew members. That alone is a good enough reason to watch this movie. I highly recommend it.
Nine Lives (2002)
Enjoyed this
I really enjoyed Nine Lives . It immediately captured my attention and held for the entire film . It wasn't what some people would call a slasher film which I appreciate. It's more of a suspenseful paranormal film. It's about a group of friends who meet up at their friend's family's remote mansion during a blizzard to celebrate their friend's birthday. As the night goes on things start to go amiss. The whole movie takes place in one night. You have to pay attention to understand what's going on. Eventually Laura played by Amelia Warner figures everything out. It's a breath of fresh air to finally have a film where a female solves the mystery and isn't portrayed as uneducated like they make females in other films. This movie is more on the low budget, but in my opinion that doesn't effect the enjoyment of this film. I'm not sure why no one else liked the film because I loved it and I highly recommend it.
Belfast (2021)
LOVE AT FIRST SCENE
There is not enough words I could say or use to describe how much I loved, Belfast. From the moment the movie starts it draws you in. It captures your heart and leaves you entranced. The plot, which is told through the eyes of a child plays with your emotions. Belfast will have you laughing one moment, to crying the next. Then having you feel empathy towards those who really experienced those issues during that time. The director's decision to show the film in black and white adds a nice aesthetic as the story is unfolding. It makes you feel like you went on a journey back in time, like you were right there experiencing it all with Pa, Ma, Will, Buddy, Granny and Pop. The music chosen for the soundtrack adds a nice tie in to the film. No doubt, the best was Everlasting Love which was performed by no other than Pa portrayed by the phenomenal actor Jamie Dornan. Jamie was outstanding and out of all the characters, his character Pa will tug at your heartstrings the most because the sacrifices he had to make for the welfare of his family. Jamie nailed the portrayal of an anguished man, missing and worrying about his family. Granny who was portrayed by Judi Dench will also tug at your heart with all she lost, yet she continued to put her head up and moved forward one step at a time like the brave women she was. Caitriona Balfe as Ma also had you feeling for her. You could feel her fears and hesitations come to life as you watched her struggle with situations unfolding around her all the while still trying to teach her children right from wrong. Buddy, played by Jude Hall who's eyes the story is told through does a fantastic job making the audience feel and see the events told through a child's eye. Ciaran Hinds as Pop was the glue that held them together. He made you wish you had a Pop like him. The lesson and beautiful meaning of the story was delivered by Pop (Ciaran Hinds) and Pa (Jamie Dornan). This movie is about a family who lived in anguish, went through struggles and loss, but was held together by love and kindness. Watching this movie with change you. It makes you have empathy especially for those of Northern Ireland and all they went through. I highly recommend this film.
