Private Number (2014)
Annoying and aggravating
It's honestly almost impossible to follow the story once you realize that the director has chosen to have a sort of "stopwatch" sound ticking in the background of almost every single scene.
I've never been more annoyed in my life. I wanted to watch the thing to see how it ended, but that tick tick tick sound was driving me out of my mind.
I'm not even sure it was intentional--might have been a bad video camera--but since it doesn't show up all the time, I'm pretty sure it was there as some kind of "Ooooo look how cool this is" thing but it failed, miserably.
Wish I'd never wasted my time on this.
Spooks: The Greater Good (2015)
A real dog
I don't know if it was the horrible story line, the lack of continuity, the fact that none of the characters exhibited any qualities that would make me care about them, or the fact that Kit Harrington looked like a 12 year old boy with facial hair, but this was absolutely horrible.
I expected a lot more but didn't get it.
I confused this with the "Kingsman" series and was thnking I'd get something along those lines, but not only was it nowhere near as good as that franchise, it was pretty much laughable.
Bad acting, bad plot, bad camera work, bad script, and an overall bad movie. Never again. Ever.
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004)
Normally a big fan of all of them, but...
This bored me to death.
It wasn't funny, wasn't interesting, wasn't engaging, and wasn't ever strange which is what Wes Anderson is pretty much known for.
Pretty much 2 hours I'll never get back.
It was so bad, in fact, that I kept pausing it and going on the other monitor to check social media, email, or anything that might hold my interest for more than a few minutes.
I honestly don't understand the accolades. I'd love somebody to explain to me why this was such a monumentally good film.
Luckily, I didn't watch it until 2024. If I'd watched it when it came out, I'd never have watched another Wes Anderson film again.
Circle of Bones (2020)
Not bad but not great
First of all, the one thing that really threw me off was the dubbed English voice for one of the actresses {Jana Victoria) who was clearly speaking English from her lip movements but who must have had a really thick accent so some genius decided to dub in a voice with an American accent. Check out the 9:00 to 11:00 minute mark and see if I'm crazy or not.
Other than this little annoyance, the film wasn't bad at all. And short, too, coming in at around 1:20. Some websites list it as a series, but it's not - it's a stand alone movie.
It gets a little cock-eyes with the introduction of this sort of off-the-wall child trafficking cult but is good enough to keep your attention.
