Shaitaan (2024)
Maddie is a Powerhouse!⚡
Happened to watch this movie just yesterday, and it was one of the best movies I've watched so far! Although the plot was predictable enough and I could envisage the ending, I enjoyed watching it.
The opening scene, although not something people would look forward to seeing, was of a dead mouse amidst some trash in a forest. And then same the title song 'Shaitaan', with the doll-making scene. It sent chills down my spine! They say first impression is the last impression, and my first impression of this movie was amazing, considering the song. They've crafted this thing so well, making that doll-making scene look as realistic as possible.
Next up, we're shown family time, and the overall background of Kabir(Ajay Devgn)'s family consisting of him, his wife Jyoti(Jyothika), daughter Janvi, and son Dhruv. What happens ahead, if I were to reveal it, the movie would be spoilt here, and I'm not intended on doing that.
Summing the whole thing up, according to me, this movie is absolutely worth the watch! From the cinematography to the music, story, acting, everything is just perfect. Although Ajay Devgn's character Kabir is the protagonist in this film, Maddie's character Vanraj overshadows and dominates him the whole time with his aura, and ofcourse because of Maddie's acting.
R. Madhavan, AKA Maddie, gave his best performance as always! He's just incredible. I love this whatsoever and I never believed I would hate him even if he were to play the antagonist someday, but little did I know the day has come. I hated Vanraj like anything. I believe in a saying, that when your hate for the villian starts to peak, know that the actor's performance is peaking too! That's exactly what happened here.
The actress who played Janvi, I don't know her name, but her talent can be judged from the fact that she was chosen to play the same character in both Shaitaan and Vash, the Gujrati movie whose remake this one is. Needless to say, she did a remarkable job! You could see through her eyes and her face the fright, of what was happening, and madness, that the hypnotism had shoved in her. There were instances when the line between her real self and the hypnotized Janvi blurred, but that was where she aced the role. With a sudden change in her expressions, she made it clear about who she was at any given time- the real Janvi, or Vanraj's mere puppet.
Jyothika, who played Kabir(Ajay Devgn)'s wife Jyoti, did a commendable job too! In all of the emotional scenes, her eyes spoke volumes. Even though she was silent most of the time during those scenes, her expressions conveyed what Jyoti was feeling- fright, fury, agony, helplessness, and despair. She was better than Ajay, I'd say!
The child actor who played Dhruv, Janvi's 8-year-old brother, did a commendable job, too! Being a mere 8 y/o kid, he did absolute justice to his role. Boy showed emotions of happiness, fear, fright, confusion, and more throughout the movie, and did a great job at dialogue delivery as well!
Lastly, Ajay Devgn, who played Kabir, was as always amazing at what he does. But this time, although his role was similar to that he got in Drishyam, a cool yet protective father who'd go to any extent for his children, he couldn't stand out due to Maddie's praiseworthy performance.
The conclusion is, even though this movie is a remake, it's by far one of the best of its kind. Totally a watch-worthy movie, you should absolutely go for this without a second thought!
Ankahi Ansuni (2021)
A must watch!
I just found out this show a day back and started watching, couldn't relent but watching all the episodes in a day! They were short, entertaining, the environment of the rural areas in the country and superstitions people actually beleive in have been showcased in the series. The main characters- Umesh(Paresh Pahuja), Madhuri, Pyaare and Balram gave it their best and their acting and expressions were so on point throughout the season; that's just commendable🙌🏻 There were just 20 episodes of maximum 15-20 mins each which didn't feel like really long even after I completed watching the whole season. Would've given it a 10-star rating only if the show contained more episodes because have loved the show so much, I feel really sad at moment that it has no more episodes :(
Hoping to get more seasons soon. I'll recommend to definitely watch it and I'm sure you're gonna love it only if you're not some really criticising personality who always looks forward for mistakes and not for the efforts :)
Honest Review: Just loved it.
