A One-Time Special (2020 TV Special)
10/10
Judging by the reviews I would say that the joke went over a lot of people's heads
31 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this special and thought it was a pretty brilliant use of the show and its characters to promote the new season and a really creative approach given the current constraints imposed by covid-19 guidelines.

I am glad someone at NBCU has enough of sense of humor to have done this, so whoever your are, well done.

And to the shows cast and the guest celebrities, thank you very much for participating. I truly enjoyed it and hope you all had fun.

I had seen many of the promos for the new shows so did fast forward through those, but at the end saw a promo for the new show Debris which I had not previously seen and am very interested in watching.

Disappointed with the direction this episode went
9 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Really disappointed with the direction that Michael Emerson's character went on this show and found encouraging a mass shooting tasteless. It makes me wonder if there was an Emerson equivalent in the writer's room of this episode influencing the direction that it went.

The Oscars (2016 TV Special)

Poorly executed show
29 February 2016
Considering this is Hollywood's big night of the year, I found the show sorely lacking in execution.

1) wasting time with run-on and overly staged presentations; 2) lost time for honorees to speak due to length of time it took them to get to the stage; 3) disrespect to the honorees with attempts to play them off with the music.

2) At some point someone...hello director... should have decided to simply have the presenters already on stage ready to go and allocated the saved time to the people who actually got awards.

3) Also, if truly necessary to have music as a cue to get ready to end...again hello director... how about softly introducing it and gradually building up as time went on rather than just starting to play while honorees were mid sentence.

4)And finally, how about those last two songs getting some airtime.

Louis CK gets a shout out for helping to make sense of a part of the Awards, but here again, he got more respect than the Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy got because she was interrupted by the music.
