Black Girl Missing (2023)
Great Idea, Poorly Executed.
Lifetime really talked this one up, so of course I saved it to watch. I tried to watch it today, and sadly didn't even finish it. This topic is something that NEEDS to have a light shone on it, but this movie did not help the cause. I really can't even put my finger on it, but it didn't hold my attention so I was lost a lot. Some of the scenes where the actors were trying to be pensive about something, I was like, "What are we supposed to be thinking they are thinking?" Again, lost. Finally I just gave up. The missing girl should have maybe had more scenes because as a viewer, I had no attachment to the character. The other characters seemed so shallow and boring, I didn't have any attachment to them either.
Christina in the Country (2023)
Stop Giving This Woman Shows
I have been around since the early Flip Or Flop days. And, I'm sorry, but Christina is not it. All her designs look the same! And the amount of money she spends is insane. Normal people don't have budgets like that. Christina obviously thinks high end is what people want to see. But, it's not. It's the designs we want to see. Designs that say something about the homeowners or the homes themselves, not Christina. I would guess inside her home looks just like these homes she "designs."
Also, how many new men is she going to go through? This is the 3rd just since she and Tarik split up...I guess Tarik got me in the divorce, because I think he's a better person with more talent. Stop giving Christina so many opportunities, when Tarik is much more likeable and interesting.
Amish Witches: The True Story of Holmes County (2016)
Awful and Not True
I started this in Discovery+ thinking it was actually true. About 12 seconds in, I realized it wasn't actually a documentary. The actors aren't even remotely decent. Lifetime has better actors. Lmao So a quick Google and about 6 seconds, I found that this is not actually a true story and is a scripted show. Not reality at all. Why this is advertised as true is beyond me, I'm really disappointed, and somewhat offended that anyone would try to pass this off as a documentary. Such crap. I turned it off after 3 minutes. And that was about 2 minutes and 48 seconds (see above) too long.
The Hater (2022)
This Was Awful
I hardly ever do movie reviews but this one was so bad, I feel compelled. It was advertised on Hulu as a comedy, and the movie "poster" looked silly. Husband and I were just hoping for something light hearted but this was not it. Unfortunately, my husband has a problem leaving any movie unfinished, so it played through. Honestly, I would have turned it off if I was watching it alone. I couldn't tell (still don't know) if it was supposed to be sarcasm, a spoof, or a true depiction of how individuals within the party system behave. There's plenty of other things out there on Hulu to spend your time on, so I recommend passing over this one.
A Christmas Crush (2019)
Over The Top
Two of us tried to watch this movie and both agreed not to finish it. It was almost Disney or Nick level acting and storyline. I've seen Robin Dunne before and love him, but he couldn't save this one. Cindy Sampson has messed up her face trying not to age, and looks awful. Her makeup was terrible too. The Pete character was a stalker which we didn't find funny or cute. Overall Christmas Crush was terrible and I hope no one is proud of themselves for making this movie.
Naked and Afraid of Love (2021)
This Is Not NAA
It's just singles without clothes on in the woods. Nothing like the real NAA and if I were a real NAA cast member, I'd probably be offended.
