The Count of Monte Cristo (2002)
Psychologically poor adaptation of the book
The problem with the movie is not just the changes in relation to the book. But also to the psychologically poor and superficial development in the film. We don't have psychologically well-developed characters, intelligent dialogues.
Read not only the book The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, but also The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky, war and peace by Tolstoy and you will see a stark difference in the complexity and development of the characters, the social interactions with this superficial film. As the entire film development is superficial.
The Count of Monte Cristo (1934)
Shallow version
It's peculiar to Hollywood to remove any tragedy and melancholy to offer a more superficial film for the audience. The book lacks an atmosphere of tragedy, fatality and suffering, something like what happens in real life with Anna Timiryova and Alexander Kolchak. Their lives were a succession of loss and suffering. But the film is too light to offer anything tragic.
Anything more tragic and melancholy, the film removes to offer a superficial film.
Love (1927)
worst adaptation
Horrible and simplistic movie from Tolstoy's classic.
A banal and shallow film compared to the book and in real life in the relationship between Anna Timiryova and Admirla Kolchak.
If you really want a story with a strong passion, but sme the simplism and banality like this film, look for Real History and the strong passion between Anna Timiryova and Admiral Kolchak.
Watch the movie/series Admiral (2008).
The film does not focus on the life of Anna Timiryova after Kolchak's death - she has been arrested six times and spent long years in the Gulag. But she always remembered the two tragic years when she was able to be with her lover.
The lyrics of the theme song are one of Anna Timiryova's poems. Unfortunately a film cannot focus on poetry, but it should be remembered that the Timiryova's poems have been compared to the poetry of Boris Pasternak.
Troy (2004)
Hollywood doesn't know how to adapt classics
The other is mediocre. It shows the ancient society, its customs, how social relationships were efficiently and more to offer realism and psychological depth to the characters.
Hollywood wanted to remove the gods and offer a more realistic story. But it forgot to develop and offer depth. Tolstoy in war and peace, he portrays Napoleon's wars efficiently, realistically and with psychological depth. This movie looks like a parody.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)
Improving the original
Original He-Man lacked character depth and development, world construction was nil, showing how weak the script was. There was no chronological order in the episodes and story evolution was stagnant. They were random episodes.
They try to develop the story and characters.
