I'm truly glad this didn't win Best Picture. I mean the cinemotograhy of the structure and Adrien are wonderful, but it seems to not know how to end, and just culminates into 'Americans are horrible people', though many they met were not actually American born and were immigrants like his friend that took him in. I'm just not sure the purpose of the film other than to highlight the struggle of post - WW2 immigrants and the beauty of minimalism archietecture. This movie is just filled with horrible people outside his wife and Gordon. I mean Laszlo is awful as well considering he's into hookers, drugs, temper tantrums and an overinflated ego. Again, I just ask, what was the message of this movie? Lol.
I dream of more shows like this about artists from the past! The mix of acting and "Discovery style" Professors chiming in with bits of knowledge is such a fun process and makes learning so entertaining! I actually didn't know that DaVinci and Michaelangelo knew each other, let alone were rivals. As, well seeing Charles Dance involved in such a real world history project like this just adds more validity to it all. But also the other actors were excellent, especially the younger Michaelangelo too. I also didn't realize that Florence and Italy itself had such divided states and how art helped influence the public on their control and power. We need more of this type of enterainment. Please watch and support people!
The best thing to ever happen to Jim Carrey was not getting on SNL and instead In Living Color where he was simply unleashed. I'm not sure he would have been allowed to the absolutely insane, zany, maniacal character on SNL that he did on In Living Color. And without Fire Marshall Bill, Bob Jackson, and Vanilla Ice first I don't think we get birthed Ace Ventura. And thank the world of comedy we did. I realize that style of comedy isn't for everybody, but it sure is for me and 25 years later still makes me laugh uncontrollably. I see that Jim gets his highest ratings from his drama pieces, but not me.
