It's either you like it or hate it.
16 January 2023
Despite its flaws, I'm still enjoyed Tokyo Drift to this day and it is still one of my personal favourites from this franchise. This movie felt like it rather take it easy and simple, but sometimes, simplicity worked better than being convoluted most of the time. The action sequences are a lot better than before, especially the last race segment. There's fair share amount of hot babes, if that's one of the the things you expect from this movie, and the score are probably the best in the franchise, in my opinion. Some of the characters are one-dimensional and stereotypical though, especially the MC, the script is predictable and felt familiar at times, and the fact that this sequel is almost completely different from the other entries might throw people off.

Furious 7 (2015)
6/10
Solid sequel and an improvement overall.
16 January 2023
More cheesier, more over-the-top, and a lot more illogical than before, that should've convinced you to turned off your brain before watching this one. Now that being said, Furious 7 is a slight improvement towards the previous one. It's cool to see Statham's doing some cool action as the villain, he's real badass in this one. The direction from James Wan also gave a breath of fresh air for this movie. The action, while breaking all sense of logic, it's still great nonetheless, and its heartwarming that they gave Paul a really well-fitting closure for the character and an emotional send-off as a whole.

Up (2009)
7/10
Decent movie carried by its well-crafted opening.
18 December 2022
Even with its brilliant opening sequence, Up is kind of whatever. It has potential to be amazing, but the final product turned out to be a decent adventure movie, and I'm okay with that but, it could've been better. Script's fine, but it has some glimmers of really good writing. The character development with the main character is great and touching, especially that scene when Fredricksen opens the book near the end, finally being able to move on from the burden grief of his wife's death. The chemistry between the unlikely duo Russell and Fredricksen along with the funny sidekicks are wholesome to watch, visuals and score are amazing as always, one of the Giacchino's best for sure. The villain is just fine though, he's good enough but a forgettable one, and I'm on second viewing right now, but I still didn't get why this movie ranked among the best Pixar movie in the catalog.

Finding Nemo (2003)
8/10
Still a great classic.
20 October 2022
If you've saw Monster Inc., or any Pixar's works that came before this, you got everything you did expect from those in this one. It is not as deep or incredibly thought-provoking, but it is still an entertaining addition to Pixar catalogue. The plot is good, the characters are charming, and it has fair amount of emotional moments that hits you in the feels. The chemistry between Marlin and Dory is fun to watch. However, the animation and the score are obviously the biggest point overall, especially in the underwater segment where the score slaps HARD and it gives that euphoric feel. Overall, there is nothing to nitpick here, it just has almost everything you want in a Pixar movie. Well, maybe aside from the sideplot that kinda felt weaker than the main one, or that just me.

Back to simpler times.
20 October 2022
Really brings back to the time when the franchise was not as exaggerated. Despite being cheesy and cliche at times, this movie holds as one of my personal favourites. The plot is simple yet efficiently works. However, the ending felt rushed and anticlimatic to be fair, even with its intense build up. The perfomances are, god moly. Surprised when Vin Diesel went all out in this one, and the rest of the casts perfomances especially Paul Walker, are actually pretty decent and their chemistry makes this movie really fun to watch. It also has cool cars, great action scenes, probably one of the best scores in the franchise, and a lot of hot babes too, I mean I don't know what else to say anymore, so yeah, go for it.

John Wick (2014)
7/10
Don't mess with John Wick.
12 June 2022
John Wick is basically every revenge action movie that you've saw many times before. The difference is, this is, pretty much, not your standard action flick. This movie is, while simple and straightforward, can be described as really good. A relatable hero, great set of characters especially the villain, couple of notable perfomances, and good script makes up for it. The cherry on the top is, obviously, the action sequences which indeed well-choreographed and pure brilliance, added that most of it are practical and not full of CGI.

Sword Art Online (2012– )
6/10
Not bad.
7 June 2022
Sword Art Online is literally one of the most polarizing anime I've ever watched so far, as some despised and others really like it. Well, I'm one of the guy who consider this as a guilty pleasure and enjoyed it as that. It is undeniably trash from a script perspective though, with inconsistent pacing, some of the characters that being flat and thinly-written, particularly the main character who basically can do anything and it kinda reduced the stakes. It also has unnecessary fanservices and harem, which does brought down the show a lot. But to be honest, it is still an enjoyable show. The visuals and sound design are quite impressive, the action are great at times, and there are some arcs that are actually good especially the ones like Alicization and Aincrad.

Pretty good.
7 June 2022
This anime is basically Sword Art Online, but with a better director and writer. While it definitely felt different compared to SAO as it kinda throws away the vibe that the original had estabilished to focus on the slice-of-life side, it still does a good job for being what it is. The characters are relatable and likable especially the main character, the script is actually good, and the visuals have more variety added to it thanks to Studio 3Hz who, by the way, did a really great job at it and deserves credit. That being said, I'm not a fan of the plot twist towards the end, but that was just me being nitpicky. Overall, not really that impressive all-round, but it's a good anime that are worth checking out especially if you watched SAO before.

Toy Story 2 (1999)
10/10
Huge improvement in every way possible.
31 March 2022
Toy Story 2 improves upon everything that makes the first one great. The plot and script are better in this one. It takes place on a bigger scale which makes this movie atleast different and way more fun to watch. The characters are great, and even Woody is given major character development and is surprisingly better. The new characters are splendidly well-written, and makes you hook for them. The villain is million times better, the visuals are gorgeous, the scores are better, the emotional moments hits you way more, and it has iconic moments aswell. The fact that there had been quite a trouble during development, yet somehow still manages to turn this movie to be better than the original, is honestly mindblowing. Overall, Pixar are really at top of their game for this, and Toy Story 2 is easily one of their best works, so far.

A Bug's Life (1998)

Forgettable, yet a good Pixar classic.
29 March 2022
I have never heard anything about this movie, and actually surprised it's in fact a Pixar movie. Really showed how underrated and forgettable it is. Yes, forgettable. I mean, this movie is released between the first and second Toy Story which is far better honestly. But much to it's own, I think it is a good and enjoyable addition to Pixar's catalogue. The plot is decent, the visuals seems to be better in this one aswell, and the third act was fun and exciting. I like the bloopers at the end credits. The best part in this movie is obviously it's iconic villain. Hopper is, surprisingly, one of the best Pixar villain, period.

Crank (2006)

Pure entertainment.
11 March 2022
At the beginning of the movie, you're already know that you'll have a wild ride. The directors knows what to do with this premise and decided not to take it seriously, and it works tremendously well. The plot is basically Jason Statham doing crazy stuffs or simply, Grand Theft Auto-esque, and it was a lot of blast until the end. The jokes are laughable and it's the one that makes this movie iconic. The ending is questionable but I'll take it. All in all, a fun time.

Toy Story (1995)
8/10
Pixar really did came in with a bang.
26 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As the first CGI animated movie ever made, it really shows its age with it's dated visuals and such. But you can't deny that Toy Story is still, a really great movie, considering it is Pixar's first work ever. It has a wonderfully written plot about toys and teaches us about loyalty. It has many jokes that kept me laughed. It has some emotional and touching moments, especially when Buzz slowly realizes he's a toy, accompanied with it's wonderful score. The voice acting are amazing, all the actors fits in their respective roles. However, this movie has it's negatives. The conflict between Woody and Buzz gets dragged on a little too much based on my taste, Woody might became unlikable for some, and to be honest, the villain is so unpleaseant.

Solid tokusatsu show.
10 October 2021
So, all I can say is, the 1965 Ultraman is indeed worth watching and in my opinion, it's really great and solid. It is silly and goofy as hell at the beginning of the show, and while the execution might get to be a little bit sloppy in few of the episodes, this is still enjoyable to watch. There are also plenty of interesting fights, and if that's what you did want to expect from this kind of show, then this is pretty much for you.

Ultraseven (1967–1968)
8/10
Simply monumental.
9 October 2021
As the third entry to this huge franchise, it turns out to be much better than I expected. While it's still has the same formula as before, "huge bad guys versus good guys" or "monster of the week" formula to be exact, Ultraseven tries to be different from it's previous entries as the tone for this one are much darker and the mood also seems to became more serious than before. The gore also appears pretty frequently too.

Although the beginning of the show seems to be really weak and lazy in it's first 3 episodes, it starts to became progressively better as soon as the show goes on. Each of the episodes has it's unique plot, another reason why I like early Showa Ultraman era so much. Some of the episodes has different filmmaking style that feels like you're watching a different show (ex. Episode: The Untargeted Town). Anyways, I like that Tsuburaya spices something new and unique, and it works magically.

Talking about the conclusion to the show. The finale is simply monumental and incredible, not only because it is better than that 1965 Ultraman ending, it's because you can feel what happen to the characters and Ultraseven. You can feel the threat given by the monsters. The score in the finale, even though the composer did not made it due to ran out of time, adds that feeling that you'll never get it again in any of Ultraman shows.

Overall, this is one of the best Showa Ultraman shows out there. Go watch it, it will subvert your expectations.

Chappie (2015)
7/10
Surprisingly better than I expected.
9 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So basically, I've nothing interesting to watch with, so I decided to watch Chappie instead since it came on cable TV. Well, looks like I got another surprisingly fun and amazing movie, again.

First of all, this movie was not perfect, that's for sure. There are still a lot of things that can be improved, and some things that are just that bad. The ending gets me mixed response. For me, the ending for this movie feels so weird, even though it is the most happy and beautiful ending imaginable this movie ever got. But still, it's just, doesn't fit for some reason. There are many huge plot holes throughout the whole movie that while not very noticeable, but it will be very obvious if you know and think about it. The execution as a whole are pretty sloppy to be honest. It's like they rushed and the writers tries to fit a massive plot into 1 and a half hour movie, and it's a little bit noticeable that they rushed it pretty much. Pretty much the same case as "perfect on paper, but not as expected on screen". This movie needs atleast one sequel so that all the questions can be answered and many things can be explained slowly, but I guess it won't happened any time soon due to it's box office failure.

However, there are still good things that needs to be note here. The plot, while it's not phenomenal, it's still great on it's own. A robot that can feel anything raised by the gangsters instead of the maker himself? Well, still makes sense to me. The main characters are pretty good, especially Chappie. Hugh Jackman did a great work portraying the bad guy that I forgot the name about. He is a bad guy, so bad that I really satisfied when he got killed by Chappie. Well he is not that dead actually. Few of the characters that is one-dimensional and pretty mediocre are valid for me. The VFX are wonderful to see. The movie has it's funny moments too. The moment when Chappie tries to steal "daddy" cars, yeah that's seriously hillarious.

About the undeserved brutal reviews this movie got. I don't get why many people hate this movie so much, especially those brainless critics. Well, this movie is not like 'the best movie of the year' type, it's still not perfect like most of the blockbusters are. But it is a great movie and entertaining in my opinion, and I have fun watching it, which is a good sign. So, to conclude, if you want to watch this, go ahead. Atleast try to watch this for once.

It's still an incredible movie until now.
14 August 2021
I haven't watched this before so I decided to give it a shot for once since this movie came out on cable TV.

It's pretty easy to say that this movie, without doubt, is a masterpiece for it's time. It's still a masterpiece until now, if you ask me. This is when James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzeneggeer reach their peak. Arnold did an amazing job as terrifying Terminator. The rest of the cast did an amazing job, especially Michael Biehn and Linda Hamilton. This movie has a lot of it's memorable great and intense moments as well.

The visual effects are not that good, but for it's time, it's an incredible feat. I have nothing to say anymore. This movie was so good that it makes me speechless. I recommend you to watch this movie, and the movie will speak for itself.

Rush Hour 2 (2001)

Makes me laugh the whole time.
14 August 2021
Rush Hour 2 is funny as you want it to be. Man, even right at the beginning, I'm laughed so hard. The chemistry between Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan are pure gold, and so are the jokes. The plot is pretty much okay, but who cares about that anyway? Overall, I had fun watching it, and if you did watch this movie before, I recommend you to watch it again. It's still funny as it is before.

Gonna say, the perfomances saved this movie.
10 August 2021
Not gonna lie, the perfomances were impressive, so impressive that it's literally save this movie from it's disastrous plot holes, 'almost' predictable script and it's just same slices all over again.

But I had a little bit of fun watching it and literaly bitting my nail due to how suspense and intense it is at some parts, so 6 stars are enough for this movie. A good movie for first watch.

Why is this so underrated?
7 August 2021
Gonna be honest, I did watch this because there is Tom Cruise in it. As its turns out, this movie is surprisingly better than I thought it to be. I had fun experience watching it.

It's not an Oscar worthy movie, or even an impressive movie, since this movie has so many noticeable flaws. But seriously, this movie screams 'pure entertainment' and it does that. This is another movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. Even I'm pleasantly surprised that this movie is so underrated.

Maybe if this movie pops on a cable TV for the second time around, I will watch it again.

Surprisingly fun to watch.
5 August 2021
As usual, this movie came across on a cable TV so I decided to watch it with no expectations. At first, I thought it would be another bad movie. Here is the thing, this movie is meh as a whole. The CGI looks weird and pretty bad, the plot was predictable, and all of the perfomances were not really that impressive at all. Even this movie copies half of the MIB somehow, with Will Smith and his partner being replaced with Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges, and the aliens got replaced with bunch of Deados, I guess. But much to my surprise, I had fun watching it. I even watch it couple times. It is that fun.

I recommend you to not expect anything brilliant from this movie. If you are one of those guys who expecting something incredible, you would be dissapointed. This is one of those movies that didn't take itself too seriously, and it works.

Not really a brilliant movie, although still entertaining.
31 July 2021
Clearly not a masterpiece for 'giant robots vs. Monsters' genre, but it is surely an entertaining movie and fun to watch if you dont have anything to do. There are some nonsensical and cliche things but honestly I don't care that much.

But here is the thing, if you are someone who likes to see huge robots and monsters fighting each other or basically Mecha, Godzilla fans, this is definitely for you and you will love this movie as soon as you watch it.

RoboCop (2014)
7/10
An underrated movie that in my opinion, should get more recognitions.
26 July 2021
(I'm gonna note here that I haven't watch all of the Robocops originals yet so I will not gonna compare it to the originals because, you know)

First of all, I'm totally surprised when watching this movie on cable TV. I thought it would be a bad reboot and very medicore action movie, but no. I'm proved wrong. Actually, its an underated and unexpectedly decent action movie that I enjoyed. It has an interesting and great plot with some morals about advanced technology that I like. The perfomances were stellar with Joel Kinnaman did a brilliant work as Robocop. All cast did a pretty great job too. Gonna note that some of the soundtracks were bangin.

I have nothing to say anymore so as a whole, an underrated, yet entertaining action movie. I like it and you probably should too.
