If You Only Knew (1999)
A Wonderful Romantic Comedy!!
I loved this film! It works equally well as a romance and a comedy. Sam (Alison Eastwood) lives in her own apartment and is looking for a room mate. Parker Concorde (Johnathan Schaech), who falls in love with Sam from afar, would do anything to get closer to her and win her love. An opportunity arises, for Parker, when he finds out that Sam is looking for a new room mate. The only problem is that Sam only rents her spare room to gay men! Parker then leads Sam to believe that he is actually gay!! He then ends up becoming her new "gay" room mate.
The words "low budget" are written all over this film. This, however, actually works to an advantage for the film as a whole. Too many "high budget" films end up focusing too much on the visual and too little on the plot. What ends up happening is that audiences are left with a pretty package that is empty inside. Where this film is concerned, this is not the case at all. In this case, the audience is given a film with plenty of plot, humor, and romance.
Johnathan Schaech plays the role of Parker Concorde perfectly! This particular role, for him, is a bit of a balancing act; however, he pulls it off quite well. Parker is rather naive and nerdy, but he's also caring, considerate, and sensitive; still, he lacks the confidence to just "be himself". On the other hand, he's got the face and body of a Greek God!! Normally, these conflicting traits are not found all in one man. Johnathan Schaech is absolutely gorgeous!!! He manages to create the "perfect man" in the character of Parker Concorde. A man who is not only beautiful on the outside, but on the inside as well. With his glasses on, he is obviously meant to look a bit like a nerd; nevertheless, he is still quite handsome. Without his glasses, he looks like a fashion model (There are actually some scenes where, when caught at the right moment, Jonathan Schaech looks ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!! He has, by far, the most gorgeous face and body ever caught on film!!!)!!! Are we to believe that he would ever have trouble attracting women? He would have a lot more trouble keeping them away!! Nevertheless, Parker is unaware of what a good catch he really is. Is this unrealistic? Of course not! Many beautiful men and women are actually in this same boat. This aspect of Parker's character is what sets the plot in motion, and makes it believable as well.
Alison Eastwood gives a solid, yet subtle performance as the likeable, "gay friendly" Sam. Her character is a bit more worldly than Parker; she is nonetheless, a perfect match for him. The good chemistry, between both Alison Eastwood and Johnathan Schaech, makes it seem all the more clear that these two are meant to be together.
Along for the ride is a strong and very funny supporting cast!! Watch for the scenes that include Parker's gay coworkers, his female militant boss, and his oversexed "straight" best friend. They're hysterical!! There are numerous scenes that I rewind and watch over and over and over!!!
This is a definite must see!!! Don't miss this one!!!
54 (1998)
SEXY Ryan Phillippe titillates his audience with his beautiful body. In the process, he lights up the screen!!!!
This movie is a must see!! I just watched it again, for about the tenth time! Fine performances were truly given by all. Many have said that this movie needed to be longer; others, as well, have said that there needed to be more plot detail. I disagree!! I left the theatre feeling that plenty of 54 history was shown; I, unlike others, did not feel cheated. Still, everyone sees things differently and has a right to their own opinions. I for one, respect that. So what did I love about the movie? RYAN PHILLIPPE, of course!!!! What a body!!!!!!!! Before the movie came out, I saw the trailer. The famous scene where Ryan pulls off his shirt in order to get into the club got my full attention!! I new I had to see this movie, if only to see Ryan. He actually "is" a VERY GOOD actor; unfortunately, like Brad Pitt, his talent too often ends up taking a back seat to his pretty face. Nevertheless, see this one. It's good fun. If for no other reason, go see Ryan!!!!!!!!!!
The Blue Lagoon (1980)
Christopher Atkins launches a career by exploiting his body
I have seen this film so many times, but love it now as much as the first time. Why did people originally pay money to see this movie? Let's be honest here; two beautiful, half naked, teens are stranded on an island together!! That was more than enough for me!! This movie may have beautiful scenery & music, but that was not my reason to watch it!! The film, in reality, is visually breathtaking. The island, the mountains and the ocean are all very beautiful. Even the plot ends up serving an interesting character study. In reality, however, this film is best remembered because of it's scantily clad stars. Brooke Shields is quite beautiful, but it is Christopher Atkins that clearly gets the most "exposure"!! It's quite obvious that he has a VERY BEAUTIFUL BODY!! Throughout this movie, his body is exposed as much as possible; he actually has bare minimum coverage and maximum exposure!!! Go Chris!!! Is the most important part of his job to give a good performance or just look good for the cameras?! He actually does turn in a good performance, but it's his body that gets more recognition than his acting. Many have said that his career crashed and burned only a few years after this film. This isn't true. If you look at his film history, he actually has stayed quite busy since day one. Not only that, today he looks just as good as he did in this film!! If your looking for a movie with plenty of male nudity (Partial, if not full), then rent this one. You won't be disappointed! Brooke Shields looks really good too; she too provides plenty of partial/full nude scenes as well.
About Last Night... (1986)
A very HOT "Rob Lowe" flick
I first saw this movie when it originally came out 15 years ago. At the time, I was barely out of high school. Rob Lowe was DEFINATELY the "Freddie Prinze Jr/Ryan Phillipe" stud of the eighties; and I was totally HOT HOT HOT for him. When you watch this film, you can see why!! It's also nice to see that he still looks this good today!! "About Last Night" attempts to be a love story and an erotic film both at the same time. It works as both, however, it works much better as an erotic film. How often do we see this kind of love story played out?! If you watch closely, it is clear that the "visual" is the most important aspect of this movie(Predominantly for women); More attention is given to Rob Lowe's body than to Demi Moore's. Rob Lowe clearly has a very beautiful body; the producers and directors utilized it quite well in a number of different scenes. The scene where Demi Moore walks by a "naked" Rob Lowe sleeping on the floor is clearly meant to show off Rob's body. Though he is supposed to be "just sleeping", you see that when he sleeps, he is clearly positioned to show off his body in the most "erotic" way possible. There are also plenty of other "Rob" nude scenes that are equally as sexy. This film is enjoyable all the way around; fine performances are given by both the actors and supporting actors. It works well as a romance and a comedy, but clearly it works best as an erotic film. I saw it again, on video tape, for about the tenth time!! I think I could watch it again and again and again. Go Rob!!!!!!!
