Warning: Spoilers
There is one scene is this movie that has forever altered my brain chemistry, be for-warned the special effects aren't good, which makes it funnier but there is one scene where the super ex girlfriend throws a shark through the protagonist's window. And for that reason alone. You should watch the movie.

The rest of it is pretty good too but mostly watch it for the shark. The shark deserves more credit than it gets. Like bro didn't get a credit or anything. They should have paid him more, for real. 🦈 Also the romance and stuff is cute I guess. Love a good love story featuring super hero's and villain subplots.

Season 2 was better but overall it's pretty crazy that it's a show
18 March 2024
So basically you have couples in each couple one person is ready for marriage and the other isn't so the one ready gives their partner an ultimatum they split up then have to choose a new partner from one of the other couples.

Once they're paired up they move in together and do a trial marriage then after the trial marriage they do that again but with the partner they came into the show with then at the end decide whether to get married, leave with the other person they chose or leave alone.

This is from the Love Is Blind creators, they use the exact same soundtrack. You see a lot of fights and in the end you see how they learn from the other partner and bring something new in the relationship.

In the first season it felt like no one knew the experiment bc some couples decided to leave together before they did the process.

In season 2, it felt like everyone was there to work on themselves to an extent.

I feel like it's a bit of a weird premise but if you like reality tv involving jealousy, miscommunication but like no friends bc it's like your friends are also dating your ex who wants you to propose for them, then this is the Netflix binge for you.

Killing Eve (2018–2022)

10 stars for season 1, loses a bit because of later seasons
31 January 2024
Season 1 of Killing Eve was the best show ever. It was a cinematic masterpiece. Jodie Comer is amazing in it, she is an English actress, but she can master any accent or language with amazing intonation. Perfect Villanelle.

Then we have Sandra Oh playing the agent who is tracking down Villanelle, the serial murderer who is a master of disguise.

The show is super thrilling, you're watching both of them obsess over the other. They are all that the other person thinks about. I feel like season 1 was amazing, but it lost some of its thrill in season 2. The characters had changed so much that it was almost a different show. Some people loved it, I personally found season 1 better and think it ran out of steam. I didn't watch season 3, so it may have gotten better, but I think everyone should treat themselves to season 1 of killing eve.

Great story teller, can make anything funny
27 January 2024
This was my second time seeing Ms. Pat on Netflix. I saw her on the degenerates, noticed the name and decided to check her out.

Her life story is so fascinating, she had her first kid at age 12, got shot, is a convicted felon, but she's out here making us all laugh. I threw my back out I was laughing so hard.

Also after seeing the special I watched her podcast and saw her at JFL in Montreal. I was worried sh would run out of material, because she tells her life story here, but her life keeps going and she has so much more to tell. After seeing her I'm convinced that she will never out of funny stories, and she will never lose that gift she has to make the saddest things ever into the funniest thing ever.

She also has such a different experience from typical comedians so she is very surprising to listen to, you think you know what's coming, but never do.

Check her out, in all of her projects, this special is a great introduction to this phenomenal comedian.

Devious Maids (2013–2016)

A good soap
27 January 2024
If you like soap operas or never saw a soap opera this is a good show to watch. I don't think the title is fitting it says devious maids, but they mostly have good intentions and try to do the right thing at the end of the day.

All the characters develop and change. At the beginning they look a bit one dimensional but they all have rich backstories that are revealed as the story progresses, as many soap operas do.

Another big part of the show is the people that the maids work for. They are the most elite of Beverly Hills, and they are very eccentric people, played by some very talented actors. I really love how weird the Powell's are.

It's a good show about murder, family, love, and most of all friendship. Very similar tone to desperate housewives.

CRAZILY CAPTIVATING
27 January 2024
This show is crazy and never stops being crazy, the characters are super interesting, they have such a cool dynamic and friendship, and you're rooting for them, even though they almost always make the wrong decision.

The show is funny, fast paced and action packed. It's emotional at times, too. I don't know how I'd classify the genre. It's definitely crime, but the main characters are the criminals caught up with some illegal stuff, it's also a drama, but I would argue I feel comedy a lot too. It's super over the top, the actors have great timing, delivery, costumes and of course great claws(nails).

Every episode they have different over the top nails, and the nails match the characters. The nail department deserves an Emmy.

I think this show had a big influence on the nails today, or at least made me notice these extreme nail styles more.

But nails is definitely not all they do, it's in the background of all the illegal stuff they get into. Definitely worth a watch. Very different, and captivating television.

Most unexpected jokes
25 January 2024
I think one of the most important parts about comedy is the surprise. This show is constantly surprising me. When characters are talking they go in the unexpected direction, while still staying true to their character.

The plot lines are so outrageous and improbable which makes them super fun to watch because I don't see any other sitcom coming up with these bits.

There is also the fact that these characters are so extreme that nobody would fully identify with one of the characters, which makes the show more interesting.

There are so many bits and jokes that you might miss them on your first watch. I rewatch the show often and it's like when I see it I get to unlock a detail, line or joke I missed from my last watch.

One of the best sitcoms ever written.

Griselda (2024)

Griselda
25 January 2024
Sofia Vergara did an amazing job portraying Griselda through her different stages of life. Even though Griselda did so many things and hurt so many people, Sofia was able to give the character some heart. She loved her children and even when her actions were putting them in danger there was the feeling that it would never be enough to make everything stop, because then you also have the business and a bunch of people counting on this cartel for money.

The overall ambiance was very dark throughout the movie which gave it older 70s,80s vibes. But it was slight enough that a modern audience wouldn't find it jarring.

There are a lot of subtitles, but it's worth reading them. It was amazing to see Sofia as a serious dramatic actress. She nailed it.

AMAZING SPECIAL
25 January 2024
I always liked his late night show, but I didn't realize how tight his writing was, this special was him and it was just a great story, spot on delivery. I was super engaged and captivated by his stand up.

This was not political it was literally just about him and his family.

It was very focused on him which was a nice contrast to what I usually see. It brought a lot more humanity to him and it made me like his late night show even more than I did before which I didn't think was possible.

Ever since the special I feel like his late night show has grown so much with segments like corrections, that gave more humanity to him. I look forward to seeing him do more comedy for himself.

Great show until revival
25 January 2024
I will say Netflix producing the last season was the main reason I heard about this show so I'm grateful to an extent, but that last season was not good.

But basically from the pilot you get a great comedy setup with some really funny characters, all of whom are barely functioning members of society. And you see them barely develop.

I because this show is basically a group of children that have to deal with adult situations involving money, family, prison, etc, you get a great comedy.

There is some amazing writing in the show and amazing acting especially Buster, I can barely recognize him in other works because of how well he plays buster.

Intense
25 January 2024
This is not a light hearted show. It has moments but at its core it is a drama. With a lot of romance mixed into it. It is super fast paced, lots of action, twists and turns.

It is one of those shows where there are a lot of underlying story lines that develop and get more interesting over time. I watched until the end, but I would say the very last season is kind of hard to watch as Olivia Pope becomes so different from the gladiator we met in the first episode.

I will say that her heart is usually in the right place, or she can at least justify her stance throughout the show even though right and wrong are so hard to decipher, and she is not always right, but she can always spin it to look right.

I want to allow you to enjoy the show without having to deal with spoilers, so I will tell you, this show is amazing. It will allow you to escape into a hectic world and make your life seem a bit less hectic.

Craziest intro to a TV show
25 January 2024
Ok so the show starts with Kimmy Schmidt being evacuated from a bunker where she was in a cult, since she was in middle school.

Her spirit makes her a very loveable character she is an infectious optimist, who sees her escape as an opportunity to get to live her happiest life.

So after doing the today show in NYC she fell in love with the city and decides to stay where she moves in with her Aspiring Broadway roommate Titus, who is the most extra and dramatic character you can imagine. He will over react to anything. In a building owned by Lillian the crazy landlady.

She gets a job working for Jaqueline, as a nanny. And starts out her new life. But being trapped underground for 15 years really arrests one's development, and watching her deal with it and watching all of her support system deal with her dealing with it.

And I'm going to say that the entire show is great. It had a very satisfying ending and is consistently a great watch. The show has several gems in the form of songs, bits, animated dream sequences, and Tina fey guest appearances that give the audience even more of a treat.

Bad Moms (2016)

Perfect comedy
25 January 2024
I think this movie is the epitome of a perfect movie. They have some relatable characters, with some funny characters and some mean characters that all come together and deliver unexpected yet expected lines that make the movie entertaining.

I love the movie itself as well as the end credits where the actresses interview their real moms.

The movie is about a mom who is already overworked finding out her husband is cheating and having to find herself as an individual and a mom in order to balance the responsibilities of being a mom and a working women without completely exploding. And she finds that through friendship.

This is a movie where a lot of times people see the title and are like meh, but the movie 100% of the times hits, if you like comedy that has a bit of heart but is mostly just silly.

Comforting
25 January 2024
It's a comedy about average parents who have 4 kids 3 of whom are crazy gifted and the dynamic is basically the opposite of what you'd expect. The parent's jobs instead of teaching them how to be adults is to teach them how to be kids in order to make them better emotionally equipped individuals.

I find the episodes to have funny storylines, they may have been done before but I find the two adult leads to be very good at delivering lines even though they may be predictable, they are saying everything we as an audience would say when in some of these ridiculous situations.

I think most people would say it to themselves but these characters say what they think out loud which also makes for good tv.

I think this show had a spot on air and should have kept going, for at least another season there was potential for a lot more development especially with the cliff hanger. They also could have come up with more silly situations for the kids and parents. I feel like the show came out at an unfortunate time.

I think it's not a waste of time to watch a good family sitcom like this one. With kids, alone or with friends it's a nice thing to turn on.

Great RomCom
25 January 2024
I really loved this movie because of the comedic chemistry between Regina Hall and Kevin Hart. They are the funniest, most dysfunctional, yet functional characters ever. They are balanced out by Micheal Ealy and Joy Bryant who also have a romantic arc throughout the movie. They are more "boring" than Kevin and Regina, but that's ok. Kevin and Regina are the perfect amount of funny for the movie. There is at its core a very big heart and sense of love and wanting to be loved. There is also some well developed friendships shown between Joy and Regina and Micheal and Kevin. So it has the perfect ratio of funny, and romance. And a good contrast in characters. It's a fun movie. And it also from a directorial standpoint was put together in a cool way. I enjoyed how they showed the parallelism between men and women at different stages of a relationship. Overall good writing, directing, and acting.

Funny silly movie
25 January 2024
I love Amy and Tina. They are so iconic and funny. They also in contrast with baby mama switched roles. Amy is the out together character, while Tina is the more unhinged one. And the chemistry is infectious. There are so many great scenes.

I also really enjoyed Ike Barinholtz as the love interest, it showed him as the love interest, which is funny in itself and there is a great scene involving a music box. I will say no more, you should check out that scene.

It also has a few touching moments with Tina and Amy as sisters. And Tina as a mom. Overall friendship, as well. There is definitely some heart to this movie as well as joke, joke, joke. It also features some objectively funny people, who have some super silly goofy moments. Great Saturday movie night watch with good company.

Funny and Entertaining
25 January 2024
I loved this adaption. People are complaining about the songs being less intense but I would argue that most of the songs still hit, and I think they were sung in a way that was true to the characters.

There are a lot of fun little Easter eggs for both people who saw the movie and for those who saw or listened to the musical. The songs were recognizable, a lot of the story was kept, and they came up with new ways to make the movie funnier.

I think the music made the movie funnier it broke the tension, and allowed the audience to get into the heads of the characters. It was a perfect balance between movie and musical. I had a really good time.

Good cast; bad characters
6 December 2023
This was really hard to enjoy. I really wanted to love it because I grew up watching this cast I. Other shows and movies. I saw comedy and the cast and was expecting a feel good comedy with great laughs and great moments of friendship. I don't feel like I fully got this Upon reflection here are my problems with this movie: 1. All the characters were horrible and they didn't get better 2. Characters were not funny enough to justify how unlikable they were One thing that kind of worked amazingly was the chaos. It would have been exponentially better for the viewer if they cared about the character experiencing this chaos.

Humour and Heart
6 December 2023
If you want tv that can make you laugh and cry. This is the show to watch. I can overlook most of the issues in terms of execution, especially in season 1, with some production quality problems. This is because Tasha Smith carries with the dramatic and comedic acting and the storylines are interesting. Every character is multidimensional. They have growth and development in ways that make sense to the storyline.

Some plot holes are present in the show especially concerning the children, they seem to be there one episode then disappear when they don't fit the plot, I would have enjoyed to see how they'd act in more of a bystander role, or see what their lives would be like after the dramatic or funny storyline played out.

This show ran for a long time with good reason.

I wish the episodes were listed in a consistent way across platforms.

It was fine(good slapstick comedy)
6 December 2023
If you like laughing at people falling or laughing at just kind of obvious jokes this is the movie for you. I would call it a slapstick comedy.

The writing is not the best, also the male lead is not funny in this movie at all he's a straight man who doesn't give a moment of good reaction to the craziness that the female lead is doing.

Overall the chemistry was not the best, the humour was very predictable, but there were a few good moments.

There's some physical comedy and talent show number that were well done. The rest of the movie was very standard, not a lot going on. And they missed the mark on the crazy person and a normal person hanging out, it could have been a lot funnier.

If you just want a decent afternoon, this may be something to watch, in the background while you fold your laundry.

For some people, unsatisfying ending
1 December 2023
Ends on a cliffhanger. But the acting was good, story had potential, cast had good chemistry.

Problem was the production quality, but otherwise this show had everything that it needed to be successful.

But for some reason it was not what people wanted at the time. If you want a complete story watching this show is not going to give you that. If you want a light hearted relatable show that you can watch for the characters and the story that has been developed, it's a fun watch.

You really have to live in the moment and enjoy the stories we as an audience were given with respect to the show.

There are a lot of cute and funny moments in the show as well so if you want b it, I hope you enjoy. Also the tone throughout the show is very consistent episode to episode so watching the pilot would be a good litmus test on whether or not you would like enjoy it.

Non-stop tears (beautiful film)
1 December 2023
This film is the biggest emotional release one can feel. Imagine living your entire life in Room, thinking the outside world is not real (it's just TV and magic), then at age 5 you break out and are overwhelmed with what the world really is.

The acting on the child and the mother's part was very good. I saw Captain Marvel first, and was pleasantly surprised at how great of a dramatic actress Brie Larson is.

If you watch this movie you're gonna need some tissues, because 30 minutes in you will begin to cry and then keep crying until about 30 minutes after the movie or longer. It's exactly what one needs to watch when they need a good cry and a chance to see that the outside world is beautiful and there are a lot of things we don't notice.

Also the chemistry between the son and mother is beautiful and believable. Which is very important for films of this nature. They help each other get through the experience of escaping room the place they were held captive for several years, the place the boy was born.

I would recommend watching this as I said alone with a lot of Kleenex.

Best show released in 2021
30 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This show was a blessing to TV during and post pandemic. It's so silly. There is a girl group of 5 singers (Girls 5 Eva) who had a hit in the late 90s but their album tanked in 2001 because they released a song about "flying planes in our hearts" on September 10th. Now 4 of them are in their 40s and one of them died (or did she find out in season 2) and is now a bench, but is still very present in the group. Their hit from 1999 got sampled by lil stinker and they took this as a sign to reunite and be a girl group again.

This is a Tina Fey comedy, so if you love joke joke joke, this is the show for you. Creator Meredith Scardino is also super funny.

The cast features many accomplished Broadway performers: Ashley Park, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Sara Bareilles, Erika Henningsen, and Andrew Rannells. So sufficed to say the songs are amazing they are composed by Richard Simmons with lyrics by some of the funniest writers in the business.

They also write full length songs using the end credits so be sure to watch the end credits of the show to hear even longer versions of the funniest songs to make tv. They also release an album. The one thing I'm mad about is Season 1 episode 3 had 3 potentially album worthy songs, even though the instrumentals are played in the background at times, I would like to hear Alf Musik's full songs. New York Lonely Boy resonates with New Yorkers but I also loved the invisible woman song and the sidepeices song. Mostly the invisible visible woman song.

Jane the Virgin (2014–2019)

Top Tier Writing
30 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The premise is enough to be like this is special. Accidental artificial insemination is a great mouthful, but add in all the murder, attempted murder, disguises, and all the other craziness, you get Jane the Virgin.

It's generally hard for me to sit through a full 42 minutes worth of content, but it's engaging, has great narration, transitions and an awesome ensemble cast.

I would like to say Yael did a fantastic job showing the character development for Petra. As well as playing her own twin later in the show. Her ability to capture 2 polarizing opposites was incredible.

I would say I love the overall serendipity in the show, and I'd say I was happy with the ending. I also like how bumpy and curvy the road to get to that ending was.

COMEDY GOLD🏅
30 November 2023
This show is so good. Dreama Walker plays the brightest embodiment of joy and sunshine, (June) while Krysten Ritter (Chloe) plays the most chaotic roommate one can have who happens to be best friends with James Van Der Beek played by himself.

The show is about those two roommates getting into all sorts of funny nonsense that you would never imagine. It is one of those sitcoms where you can watch it, turn your brain off and laugh for 21 minutes.

It ended for no reason, I feel as someone who watched it way after it aired, the show had potential to go longer, but the final episode was not the worst finale, it was a finale that ends the story.

The other beautiful thing about the show is that I can't tell you a single favorite episode they all have a super crazy plot, some of which I've yet to see on television, they bring multiple crazy unpredictable ideas together to make the funniest possible episode.

Not only is the writing in terms of storyline good, the acting and delivery is really good, even though this was early in a lot of their careers, the show was very nicely produced the delivery was great it was standard television practice.

I loved Krysten Ritters delivery of her lines and how Dreama Walker would always act super shocked as if she was still surprised after the hundredth time Chloe did something crazy. Because Chloe just gets wilder and wilder. The show never goes downhill, every episode is well done.

Finally this show is not only about being funny it's at its core about friendship between all the characters. Even though Chloe and June are polar opposites they need each other, compliment each other and look out for each other. Whether or not their actions are those of the best people, both characters deep down have great hearts, which is something I always appreciate. It makes the characters more relatable to the audience.
