Love Life (2020)
Mid-twenties divorcee
It's very rare to find representation in television for divorced twenty somethings. I am pretty blown away that I saw the best representation of my first marriage in her relationship with Magnus and the subsequent adventure of getting back out there after an arguably embarrassing endeavor like that. The show is definitely not the greatest piece of work I've ever seen but it helped me feel like I'm not completely alone in that aspect so overall it's a win. It brings out all the feels.
A.P. Bio (2018)
Refreshingly Funny
As a former die hard Sirika Sircar in high school this show is amazingly relatable while still being hysterical. I will admit that not every episode is amazing but the storyline is great and the growing relationship between Jack and his students and fellow teachers is endearing. At the close of season one I wasn't sure how they'd keep the show going but now after season 4 I'm pretty impressed with the continuation of the story. My only big complaint is that many of the kids in the class change from season to season so some of my favorites have left the class but I understand the logistics of having 20 something year olds continue to play high schoolers over the course of a single year (shot over 4+ years). Overall a pretty funny watch and cute premise.
Space Force (2020)
John Malkovich is Everything
The show is funny, the themes are relevant, and the push and pull of military vs discovery is hilarious. I originally watched it because I love Steve Carrell, but John Malkovich steals the show. I know a lot of people are angry about the stereotyping of Carrell's role, but it's absolutely spot on from what I experienced as a military spouse. Side characters are great - F. Tony, Angela Ali, Chan. The unexpected interactions are witty and realistic even though some of the situations are completely unrealistic. It's not at all what I expected from the show but I watch it almost daily and appreciate it for what it is (which is not The Office!)
